Imma not write an essay, but lemme justify the 8/10... This movie would definitely make your boring repetitive life quite enjoyable for the entire runtime except for a few mins of lame jokes in between.... That said, this one makes you laugh like anything... Plus the plot, though bit cliché, does succeed to entertain you.
  • RATED 8/10 Language: Malayalam Source: Hotstar RECOMMENDED

Superb family entertainer with filled with comedy sequences....the ultimate cast makes this movie so rich... Mohanlal is top notch in comedies and his body language is so great...Perfect movie to watch with family in weekend.... The second half has bit lengthy sequences and bit dragged, other wise its full and full fun ride.

    Dont miss it.

Bro Daddy is a simple story narrated well with a mild humour in it. It is definitely not an out and out comedy entertainer, but a fun film.

The film is not a one man show but relies itself on shoulders of each cast member involved. Mohanlal, Lalu Alex, Prithvi, Kalyani, Meena and Kaniha has done their own roles really well.

What makes it a better treat is the return of Mohanlal the actor and his facial expressions. Post "Odiyan".. films like Ittymani, Big brother, Marakkar were complete disappointments when it comes to acting for Mohanlal. This film however shows the better parts of him. The energetic mohanlal that entertained the industry for decades can be seen here.

Prithvi , however still limps in his comic acting- he was never a natural in comedy, and still struggles- although much better than his previous roles. However, none of these minor issues seems to have a problem on movie narration. Thanks to a well planned plot line.

Whats Bad- Prithvi the actor, a few comic scenes.

Whats good- Prithvi the director, rich frames, Mohanlal, Lalu Alex, Kalyani Priyadarshan, Mallika.

Prithviraj as an actor may have his ups and downs but for sure, Prithviraj as a director is climbing up- steadily. Not a bit felt forced or boring.

Hoping to see more and looking forward for Empuraan.
  • For a candy floss lighthearted family comedy genre, this movie does all justice. It has the right ingredients from all departments of the movie. Mohanlal and Lalu Alex is a delight to watch and Pritviraj's directorial experiments are commendable. The movie is not supposed to be complex or realistic to meet the genre's audience- and BroDaddy does that with elan.
  • " Bro Daddy" starring Mohanlal & Prithviraj in lead roles released on Disney Hotstar on 26th January 2022....

After the blockbuster movie " Lucifer" and before it's sequel " Empuran", Prthviraj came up with his 2nd directoral movie..

A complete entertainer movie.... A fun movie with absolute no boredom...A perfect holiday movie

Prithviraj Sukumaran as a director proved that he is capable to make such fun entertainer movies too...

After a long time we got our Mohanlal sir in his usual humorous character.... His naughy looks, his smile, his romance makes us to love this man again and again & hence he is called the complete actor

Prithviraj my favourite, ur a gem. Needless to say of his performance. Wanna appreciate him especially as he able to blend the role of director and as an actor very well....

Above that , Mohanlal- Prthviraj dad- son combination was superb.... More than a dad- son relationship, it was their friendship which the script able to portrayed and when we see this dad-son we will remember our best daddies as we know that whenever we are in trouble one best friend will always come and that is our Dad

Lalu Alex, Soubin Shahir added the fun element to the movie

Kalyani Priyadarshan, Kanija were done their roles well...

Mohanlal- Meena combination, this jodi is the most acceptable combo after Mohanlal- Shobana combination in Malayalam film

Music was pleasing while cinematography was good....

Overall a fun entertainer movie...." Bro Daddy"
  • A clean cut comedy entertainer.

Prithviraj once again proved that he could fit well in comical roles.

Mohanlal s expressions were far good Lalu Alex rocked.

Just an entertainer, one time watchable, no major story base, well acted, casting was excellent.

    Family drama...

Casting: Mohanlal, Meena, Prithviraj, kalyani Priyadarshan ,lalu Alex,
  • As a director, Prithviraj has showed his brilliance once again. The scripting is quite okay, but that's fine. I loved how Soubin's portions were executed, it was just perfect for the comical merits. Overall casting was fine and the way each characters evolved and exposed were really admirable.
  • Warning: Spoilers
A living together couple get pregnated accidentally and try to sortout their problem and get married with their parents permission. Unfortunately that guys mother also get pregnant then starts with interesting and humour.. never get boring at any of the scene and some place really make us to laugh out loud... must watch movie..!
  • Bland writing with almost every secondary character being a caricature. The script is extremely predictable. The movie is an absolute drag and seems like it'll never end.

It is a nice feel good family movie,

    every scene is colorful.

    Mohanlal, Prithviraj combo is excellent.

A complete entertainer movie.... A fun movie with absolute no boredom...A perfect holiday movie.
  • Last time Mohanlal featured in a light hearted comedy was in 2019; in which he played a half-Chinese character (need I say more?) and a year prior it was Drama. Well, Bro Daddy is sort of reminiscent of Mohanlal from the good old days.

Directed by Prithviraj Sukumaran, Bro Daddy is the story of the Kattadi & Kurien family. The families are eager to get their kids married but the kids (Eesho & Anna) have a secret that make things really complicated for the two families.

Starring Mohanlal & Prithviraj as the father-son duo of John & Eesho Kattadi, Bro Daddy is a light-hearted take on familial issues. Though there are some Badhaai Ho vibes but that isn't a matter of concern in the film. Prithviraj's sophomore directorial venture is a far cry from his debut, Lucifer and it is brilliant the way he switches between genres. Mohanlal is brilliant & so is his reel son. Kalyani Priyadarshan is as always bubbling with energy, Meena plays Mohanlal's wife for the upmteenth time, Lalu Alex gets a meaty role, Kaniha returns and Soubin Shahir is miscast. Jagadish, Unni Mukundan, Mallika Sukumaran & Antony Perumbavoor co-star.

Bro Daddy suffers from the curse of the 159 minute long runtime. It is extremely long for a comedy and that is why the second part of the second half seems to drag a lot. But if you are willing to overlook that and forgive the makers for Soubin's overenthusiastic & absurd character; then Bro Daddy makes for a decent family friendly watch. It's been a while since Mohanlal did something that his fans would actually appreciate. Well, I guess this one is it.
  • An average one time watch film :-

After the astounding success of Mohanlal - Prithvi's Lucifer , Bro Daddy is far from being Exuberant!

The storyline was supposedly a to-be hilarious , but lacked the punch and "Class" ! Felt that Soubins character was totally unnecessary and completely missed the essence . Lalu Alex's performance was par excellent whether it's the comedy or the emotional scene .

Felt that Kalyani Priyadarshan needs a long way to go before she act alongside seasoned and celebrated stars . On a lighter note , I feel that she needs some serious training from "Pachaalam Bhaasi" 😁. Mallika Sukumaran as usual was Perfect. Nikhila Vimal was totally under utilised ! A guest appearance with just a one liner !! Similarly Unni Mukundan , Jaffer Idukki's screen presence were too limited ! Sad to see these potential actors being wasted in the movie who all had the potential to add a lot of Meat to the storyline ... The songs were pleasing and some were apt to the scenes . The background scores at certain scenes were very apt which fuelled the humor for that particular scenes . Special mention to the costume selections which glorified the visual impact . The first half was much better than the second half . The second half was more of a stretch ! The script was just average . Overall an average film , a one time watch and nothing much to rave about .
  • Brodaddy is a fully family entertainment flim. Good casting to choose the characters in the film. All songs in the film are also good. Overall such a good family entertainment From lalettan and prithiraj😍
  • Bro Daddy's initial teasers and trailers had hinted at a possible return to the exuberant, fun and energetic 'vintage' Mohanlal we all had loved and cherished when he gave us era-defining comedies in Minnaram (1994) and Chandralekha (1997). Unfortunately, despite the legendary actor putting in an earnest performance, the writing does not match up and the comedy bits fall flat in several places.

The story follows John (Mohanlal) and Eesho (Prithviraj) Kattadi, a bickering father-son duo and the mayhem that ensues following their attempts to get the latter married. With most of the handful of comedy elements that do work revealed in the trailers, teasers and promotional videos, the final movie might not generate enough LOL moments but is rendered watchable by Mohanlal and an immensely endearing Lalu Alex. It was particularly pleasing to see the man who pulled at our heartstrings in Niram (1999) and Kalyanaraman (2002), back to a full-fledged role after long and then going on to deliver a compelling performance.

The movie's music album, from Deepak Dev had already introduced us to chartbusters like "Parayathe Vannen" and "Vannu Pokum" before the film's release but he clearly hid away his best piece for last. Watch out for the soulful "Kaana Kuyile" which will have you humming along in minutes.

Both Prithviraj and Kalyani Priyadarshan understand that comedy is not their strong suit and are understandably, not given much heavy lifting to do here. The best parts of the movie are predictably, the interactions between Mohanlal-Prithviraj, who make a terrific father-son duo, as well as Lalu Alex and Mohanlal playing off each other, to entertaining effect.

Unfortunately, the secondary characters are reduced to caricatures. Unni Mukundan and Jagadeesh make no impact in blink and miss roles while Meena and Kaniha are reduced to stereotypical 'achayathi' wives who do nothing but cook, plead with their husbands and wear pretty sarees. Mallika Sukumaran is excellent in the handful of scenes she appears in and while Soubin Shahir does generate a few laughs in the initial scenes, the character becomes repetitive by the end.

What Prithviraj lacks in comic acting ability, he makes up for in astute direction that will perhaps appeal more to our parents' generation than to someone like me, a millennial viewer. The predictable familiar, feel-good elements are deftly presented alongside several taboo subjects by Prithviraj, making the film a watchable experience especially if you are looking for a brainless stressbuster that you can watch without exercising your grey cells.

We have to resign ourselves to the fact that the writers of today are not good enough to deliver characters and superior comedy scripts in order to see the return of 'vintage Mohanlal' and that it has nothing to do with the actor himself. As Alfred Hitchcock famously once said, "The three most vital elements of a film are 'the script, the script, the script."

Prithviraj had downplayed the picture before its release, referring to it as a "small, feel-good film" and that is exactly what it is. Bro Daddy is a fairly entertaining, time-pass family watch. The film works more as a family feel-good experience than as a comedy. Set your expectations right and you won't be disappointed!
  • Bro daddy -A fun family Entertainer😍😄😆Mohanlal and prithviraj combo👌👌👌Comedy Entertainer. Lalu Alex superb in his role. Very good entertainer.. Meena role superb and kalyani priyadarshan role superb in this film. It is pakka family Entertainer.
  • I definitely enjoyed the first hour with the 2 revelations, and it made me laugh here and there but afterwards it became more plot focused than comedy and also the joke were so predictable and even cringy at times. Cliche and Predictable rhymes with this movie very much.

The acting from Prithviraj was poor but the rest of the cast were good enough.

A decent, no risk taking and satisfying ending tooo.

First I wanna say never compare this movie with Lucifer. It's a family based movie. And movie was quite funny and lengthier. Director should've trimmed out some clips of this movie. And this movie is a one-time-watchable category. Negative of this movie is (for me) Jokes weren't quite nice and I didn't like how Prithviraj called his father by his name (might be showed some rich kiddos attitudes). Postive is it' was nice to old actors on this movie. And it's a enjoyable movie.
  • Prithi failed in his attempt to make a movie in another turf. Lucifer was a fine movie. In this movie he has miserably failed as a Director as well as an actor. As usual Mohan Lal done his job satisfactorily. But no glimpses of old Mohan Lal . Bro Daddy has no storyline. Script is very weak. Lucky that it is released in OTT platform.

Great movie to watch with family. Chemistry between all the actors are really good. All actors did a wonderful job. This kind of fun movies are missing now a days from malayalam industry. The story was predictable but making of the film and the colourful theme covers that. Story doesn't have much important but fun. Lalu alex was the best and of course lalettan and prithvi. Kalyani also did a great job. Soubin was funny but still some comics were old. Overall a very good film which make you laugh all round and feel good. Awesome direction all the best prithviraj.
  • It is a mind freshing so i like give 10/6😇 starring mohanlal, prithviraj, kalyani priyadarshan, meena are good at all acting its ok film. Climax of the movie is not at all perfect but its good.
  • MatthewKay00726 January 2022
Few laughs here and there but overall it was cringe. Soubins worst performance ever. Full of Ammaavan WhatsApp/Instagram jokes.

If you skip this one, you won't be missing out on anything. Save 2hrs of your life.
  • This is the kind of movie that Prithviraj had promised during conception......small film with big names.

The performances were adequate........Mohanlal showing flashes of his legendary comic skills....but it was Lalu Alex who had the meatiest part.

The only portion off was Soubin Shahir's track as the event manager (not for any fault of his) but due to uninspired writing.

    Overall, a good fun watch!
  • A very light hearted simple movie made in a grand scale. BRO Daddy is impressive mainly because of its stellar cast. The story is simple and kind of predictable as we have already seen similar plots a lot nowadays. Still because of its grandness and style, the movie has scored well and is a thoroughly enjoyable outing for everyone. Happy to see Mohanlal in his once-lost charm and charisma, yes, the old Mohanlal is back. Prithviraj has done a neat job as director and actor. Overall, a very good light hearted enjoyable movie for everyone. Watch without any doubt, you will like it.
