Old-school U.S. Marshal Raylan Givens is reassigned from Miami to his childhood home in the poor, rural coal mining towns in eastern Kentucky.
In Pronto (1997) James Le Gros played Deputy U.S. Marshal Raylan Givens, also wearing a bright-colored Stetson hat. The Pronto hat has a wider, more dramatically curved brim, and is quite a bit brighter in color than the Justified hat. It also doesn't feature the hand-tooled leather band that the Justified hat does, instead opting for a band made of the same colored material, from which the hat is made. The hat used in this show is now called the "Stetson Marshall". It sports a four and one-fourth inch cattleman crown, a much less dramatic brim, and comes in a subtle "Ranch tan" colored wool. Leonard Elmore expressed some trepidation with the hat this show used, describing the hat he wrote as "the Dallas Businessman Special, a felt city cowboy hat called the Stetson Open Road, accept no substitutions."
You're tarnished with the dark stain of D-I-V-O-R-C-E.
Raylan Givens: My marriage ended a little bit more amicably than yours.
Ava Crowder: Funny, why did your marriage end?
Raylan Givens: It seemed like a good idea at the time.
It is clear from the surrounding countryside in more than a few episodes that while the series is set in SE Kentucky, it isn't filmed there. This includes scenes with treeless mountains in the background and semi-arid landscapes.
