LIKE A MOTH TO A FLAME is a dreadful gay-themed thriller that tries very hard to be dark, shocking, and controversial, but is instead simply ridiculous. It's a thriller that fails due to the very poor direction, which makes it near-unwatchable at times, and the general lack of narrative coherence. I appreciate that this is an anthology of sorts, charting the misadventures of no less than three protagonists, but that's no excuse for it being incoherent.

This film is marketed as erotic but that couldn't be further from the truth, even though it does contain nudity and sexual situations. The theme is about guys discovering something hitherto unknown about themselves - yeah, I know - but the generally stilted acting negates any effort towards psychological depth. The whole thing seems to take place at night, too, giving it a dismal visual sense.
