The CW has picked up Sky Italia original Devils, starring Patrick Dempsey, as it continues its acquisition of international shows for its fall schedule.
The move means a slight schedule change to accommodate the hour-long drama with Two Sentence Horror Stories and Dead Pixels moving from their previously announced slots.
The broadcaster acquired the financial thriller from NBCUniversal Global Distribution and will air it on Wednesdays at 8 Pm on its fall schedule ahead of Canadian import Coroner. It replaces Two Sentence Horror Stories and Dead Pixels in this slot for the fourth quarter with the British comedy now airing over the summer and the horror anthology series moving to Sunday nights.

Paul Chowdhry is someone I’ve been familiar with for a while, from his previous comedy specials (What’s Happening White People? and PC’s World) as well as some of his film roles. He’s a funny comedian and I’ve enjoyed his previous work on stage, so I was down to check out his new special on Amazon Prime entitled Live Innit.
Now, he isn’t a comedian shy to be blunt and full-on with both his jokes and his crowd interactions. There’a a lot of jokes about terrorism and the generalisation of how racist folk see Asian folks. The stereotyping of race is his bread and butter and a large amount of his comedy shows, including this one, surrounds that. Sometimes it’s funny, other times it gets a bit tired, a little typical, but also quite alarming in the sense that as a world things...

Due out in January next year, The Adventurer: The Curse of the Midas Box boasts a stellar cast led by Aneurin Barnard, Michael Sheen, and Lena Headey.
The film was originally titled Mariah Mundi and the Curse of the Midas Box, and the new title and its colon would suggest that Image Entertainment could well be hoping for a franchise here.
With just a few more months to go before it hits cinemas, Yahoo Movies has launched the new poster, along with a handful of images.
17-year-old Mariah Mundi’s life is turned upside down when his parents vanish and his younger brother is kidnapped. Following a trail of clues to the darkly majestic Prince Regent Hotel, Mariah discovers a hidden realm of child-stealing monsters, deadly secrets and a long-lost artifact that grants limitless wealth – but also devastating supernatural power. With the fate of his world, and his family at stake,...

Actress Amanda Abbington has been confirmed as appearing in the new run of Sherlock episodes...
A flurry of (well-labelled, at least) Sherlock spoilers have been doing the online rounds since filming began on the third series last week, the majority centring around an exterior scene filmed in Portland Square, Bristol. Said shoot revealed what we imagine to be some fairly spoiler-y things to the fans-turned-extras in attendance, things we won't repeat here. If you want to go looking for it, it's out there. We'll leave it at that.
Officially confirmed by the BBC today though, is the involvement of a co-star spotted filming scenes with Martin Freeman and Benedict Cumberbatch in Bristol: Amanda Abbington (Mr Selfridge, Being Human, Case Histories and much more). Abbington is a familiar face on UK television, with roles in dramas, soaps, geek fare, and, according to her IMDb page,...

Melissa George is fortunate to like Europe and physical activity, given the demands of her latest part.
She also doesn't mind getting "shot," which happens to her not once, but twice in the opening moments of "Hunted." The action series premieres Friday (Oct. 19) on Cinemax, which is aiming for a successor to its successful "Strike Back," recently renewed for Season 4. The new show's elements were big lures for Australia-born model turned actress George, who co-starred on "Alias" for a time and also did stints on "Grey's Anatomy" and "In Treatment."
Arguably, though, her biggest calling has been the running-jumping-punching-kicking movie genre ... confirmed lately by such pay-cable staples as "Triangle" and "A Lonely Place to Die." They've proven to be good warm-ups for her new role as Sam Hunter, a covert espionage agent seeking those who tried to kill her before they can succeed.

It's a pretty sparse week for DVD and Blu-ray releases thanks in large part to the holiday weekend, but if you dig a little bit, you just mind find something worth watching. The biggest releases of the week are a pair of indie flicks: Bobcat Goldthwait's dark comedy God Bless America and the Willem Dafoe thriller The Hunter. Some other small but noteworthy films out this week include Jesus Henry Christ starring Toni Collette and Michael Sheen, the Martin Freeman / Mandy Moore comedy Swinging with the Finkels, and the genre festival hit Some Guy Who Kills People. Yesterday I got to meet ad interview new upcoming talent, Aneurin Banard for his new movie, Elfie Hopkins where he plays a geek opposite non-geek Jamie Winstone (it’ll go live next week). I then get home only to find that the man who I tipped for great things has been cast in this brand new movie opposite the likes of Michael Sheen, Lena Headey, Sam Neill, Ioan Gruffudd and Keeley Hawes. We certainly never saw it coming back when he was turning in small but hilarious performances in Edgar Wright's "Shaun of the Dead" and "Hot Fuzz," but in 2012 Rafe Spall is set to become a leading man in a Working Title rom-com. Neither did we imagine that any offspring of Timothy Spall (as much as we love him) would ever be a romantic lead. But after significant roles in "Anonymous" and "One Day" Spall the younger looks set to be a star, and now we know who his other half will be in his first big rom-com. And lucky, lucky him, because it's only the stunning and ridiculously talented Rose Byrne.
"I Give It A Year" will be written and directed by Dan Mazer ("Borat") and follows a mismatched couple (that's Spall and Byrne) as they struggle to survive their first year of marriage. It sounds a little like...

Across the pond the Ya adaption craze continues with London's Entertainment Motion Pictures' plan to produce a teen thriller based on G.P. Taylor's Victorian-set fantasy-thriller Mariah Mundi and The Midas Box. Jonathan Newman, who wrote and directed the Mandy Moore/Martin Freeman rom-com Swinging with the Finkels will helm the adventure, which follows the journey of a teen boy who discovers a mysterious box in the basement of the opulent Prince Regent, where he's employed. Writing team Rob Sprackling and John Smith (Gnomeo & Juliet) and Gavin Scott (Small Soldiers) have been tasked with translating the first book in Taylor's optioned trilogy into a family-friendly romp, which Newman's described as a mix of Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, Sherlock Holmes and Harry Potter. While that is a preposterous amount of hype to level on Mariah Mundi and The Midas Box, the project is at least...

The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey
Directed by: Peter Jackson
Starring: Martin Freeman, Ian McKellen, Richard Armitage
Rating: Not Yet Rated
Release Date: December 14, 2012
Trailer Score: 9/10
Thoughts by Tsr: “Magical” isn’t a word I like to throw around, but in this case it feels entirely appropriate. I’ll admit I had my doubts whether Peter Jackson and everyone involved would be able to recapture the magic. Now that I’ve seen this hugely successful trailer, I’m thrilled that it looks like they may have succeeded.
The trailer has a lot going for it, but perhaps the most impressive thing is that it’s out a whole year before the film’s release date. I was expecting 90 seconds of voiceover with a bit of new footage sprinkled throughout, so I was taken aback when I was instead wholly returned to Middle-Earth. The dwarf makeup is a bit questionable, but other than that it’s stunning.

Title: Swinging With the Finkels Director: Jonathan Newman Starring: Mandy Moore, Martin Freeman, Jonathan Silverman, Melissa George, Daisy Beaumount, Angus Deayton, Jerry Stiller The idea of sexual swinging, or committed couples swapping partners, opens up all sorts of rich avenues for exploration of feeling, but the London-set comedy “Swinging With the Finkels” does so little of substance or sincerity with the subject that one starts to yearn for the comparative honesty of a lonely hearts drama with a forlorn guy swigging a beer and staring at a computer screen. In fact, the movie evinces no particular reason for existing other than to seemingly provide its pleasant but half-heartedly invested cast with paychecks, and perhaps...

Summary: An outrageously foul relationship comedy that ranks among the worst movies I've ever seen.
If Swinging with the Finkels isn't the worst movie I've ever seen, it's certainly one of the five worst. Let's cover some basics. Mandy Moore and Martin Freeman play a married couple with problems of the bedroom variety. Not that we actually witness these problems, but we're told repeatedly that they exist. In an effort to spice things up (whatever that means), the Finkels take the Cosmo Tour of Moronic Sex Acts, which includes fireman costumes, masturbating with vegetables, and, as the film's title indicates, swinging. For better or worse, though it's nearly impossible to imagine worse, the actual swinging content amounts to no more than 15 minutes. A better title would have been Not Swinging with the Finkels. Here is a film that against all odds manages to be:

Swinging with the Finkels Review
Romantic comedies are often criticized for portraying that true love conquers all, and that relationships can last, as long as the two people love each other. But the new film Swinging with the Finkels strives to prove that no matter how much chemistry two people have together in the beginning of a relationship, they eventually lose the sparks they once had for each other, and no longer have intense chemistry. However, despite writer-director Jonathan Newman's good intentions, the film unfortunately fails to maintain any interest in the subject.

There’s no way around this, there’s no kind way to preface this, there’s no purpose to side-step it: “Swinging With The Finkels” is one of the worst, cheapest, dumbest and most dishonest films of the year. The film has the same tin-ear for its material that student films usually sport, often when they’re about retirement, hitmen, or a litany of subjects young people tackle despite clearly having no experience in the field. 'Swinging,' in theory, would be a film oblivious to the matters of sex and intimacy, but, in fact, it’s merely alien to any and all human behavior. The…...

Opening in limited release on August 26th is Swinging with the Finkels, this is a story of what happens after the honeymoon ends and couples get bored with married life. Having met at University, American born Ellie (Mandy Moore) and her husband Alvin (Martin Freeman) are several years into their marriage. The heady sparks of lust and fun have sadly faded and they’re left with the day to day normality of their everyday life.
Advised by best friends Peter (Jonathan Silverman) and Janet (Melissa George) who are having their own marital problems, Ellie and Alvin are desperate to ‘spice things up’.
Having explored various options, including an unfortunate incident with a cucumber as witnessed by Ellie’s Grandfather (played by comedy legend Jerry Stiller), Ellie hits upon the brilliant idea to mix things up with another couple – to have a ‘consensual affair’ within the confines of the marriage.

Here's the trailer for the indie comedy Swinging With The Finkels. It starts the adorable Martin Freeman and Mandy Moore. They play a married couple in the throws of the "blah-dom" of marriage. Of course, like any average couple, they equate the reason for their stale marriage ends up being sexual so they decide to swing. Personally, I think swing sets cure everything- wait, is that not the swinging they're talking about?

She's best known for her teen popstar days and sweet films such as "American Dreamz," "A Walk To Remember," and "The Princess Diaries." She's even voiced a Disney Princess, Rapunsel in "Tangled."
Now, Mandy Moore is growing up on the big screen -- by getting super raunchy.
The 27-year old singer/actress stars in the upcoming comedy, "Swinging With The Finkels," as one half of a sexually stagnant couple looking for answers to their relationship drag. Her solution? She proposes to husband Martin Freeman (of UK "The Office" and "The Hobbit fame) that the two become swingers -- or, a couple that has sex with another.
In this trailer for the flick -- which has already come out in the UK -- Moore shows her new side with an especially embarrassing vibrator scene that involves Jerry Stiller. Not that any vibrator scene with Jerry Stiller wouldn't be embarrassing, but this one is especially cringe-inducing.

Life In A Day (12A)
(Kevin Macdonald, 2011, Us)
Compiled from amateur submissions of what people all over the world did on 24 July 2010, this documentary sets itself an almighty challenge. It's fashioned into some sort of narrative order, with recurring themes and music, and moments of emotion and illumination, which saves it from becoming a random global channel-surf. But you could say the subjective "direction" and homogenising technical treatment are at odds with the democratic intentions.
The Beaver (12A)

Having crucified Jesus, Gibson now nails himself to the cross in a bizarre talk-to-the-hand family drama that feels more like the actor's own public therapy session.

Kaboom (15)
(Gregg Araki, 2010, Us) Thomas Dekker, Haley Bennett, Juno Temple, Chris Zylka, Roxane Mesquida. 86 mins
This could be the best teen movie of the year, or at least the horniest, surely. Set on a sunny Californian college campus with a "beautiful people only" admissions policy, it's a poppy pick'n'mix of uninhibited bi-curious couplings (and triplings), hallucinogenic drug experiences and strange, supernatural events, but none of this is treated as in any way edgy or shocking. Instead, it's warm, witty and guilt-free, even as it gets increasingly, apocalyptically bonkers – prime cult material!
Kung Fu Panda 2 (PG)

Does the sequel do what you'd expect? Do pandas defecate in the bamboo forest? Actually they don't in this anthropomorphised action animation, but it's a fun and lively tribute to old-school martial arts movies with some darker shadings than its predecessor.

I guess Mandy Moore is trying real hard now to shed that goody-two-shoes image. Good luck to her. I guess Martin Freeman is trying to ruin The Hobbit for us, by making us think about what Bilbo rhymes with, and what one hobbit, one wizard, and a whole buncha manly dwarves can get up to on a road trip. I love that there are jokes about breast milk, sex toys, and intense mortification right in the trailer. This is gonna be so much fun. Swinging with the Finkels opens in the U.K. on June 17; no U.S. or Canadian release date has been announced.

He may currently be hanging out in Middle Earth filming The Hobbit but that doesn’t mean Martin Freeman hasn’t been busy making more comedy movies beforehand. Empire have debuted the first poster for Freeman’s new movie, Swinging With The Finkels which hits UK cinemas 17th June.
Swinging With The Finkels also stars Mandy Moore, Melissa George, Jonathan Silverman, Jerry Stiller, Angus Deatton and is directed by Jonathan Newman who Empire tell us originally wrote a short film named ‘Sex With The Finkels’ on which this feature length version is based.
Plot: Freeman & Moore play a London couple (Ellie and Alvin Finkel) whose relationship is fast disappearing down the gurgler, until the collapse of their friends’ marriage inspires them to… well, the title should explain the rest.

Movie marriages can be tough. When the sparks fades and all those moonlit visits to the Empire State Building are a distant memory, on-screen couples have to work hard to keep the magic alive. Masque orgies (Eyes Wide Shut) and car key parties (The Ice Storm) are extreme solutions, but, let's be honest, they somehow overlook the saucy charms a chubby man in a gimp collar. This new poster for Swinging With The Finkels is damned if it's going to make the same mistake. Plonked awkwardly in the middle of all this sexualness are Mandy Moore and Martin Freeman as the titular pair, Ellie and Alvin Finkel. License To Wed 2? Not gonna happen. Despite the success of her animated redux of Rapunzel, Tangled, Mandy Moore says she’s done with romantic comedies.”I’ve had fun doing romantic comedies but I just can’t anymore,” she told Digital Spy. “There’s nothing fulfilling creatively, there’s nowhere to grow, nothing to learn from it or for yourself. I’d rather just be home with my family or write music until that special project comes my way.”
It’s probably worth acknowledging that two recent romantic Moore vehicles, Love, Wedding, Marriage and Swinging With The Finkels are still without release dates—so it’s not like Hollywood’s beating down the door to give her Katherine Heigl‘s parts anyway. But now they’ll know not to bother.

Mandy Moore, currently lighting up a variety of Thameside locations filming upcoming rom-com Swinging With The Finkels, took time out to give Empire an update on progress with Disney's first 3D musical Rapunzel. The actress/singer/designer, whose already-crowded CV is about to be adorned with the job title 'Disney Princess', has begun work on her Rapunzel voicepart for the Mouse House's adaptation of the classic Brothers Grimm tale. "I've started it but I'll do the bulk of the work when I get home," she said. So what can we expect from the long-locked royal? "She's sort of the quintessential sassy, feisty Disney heroine. She's quite modern, quite a curious girl as well," says Moore of the once-entowered princess. "She's just coming into her own and is anxious to figure out a way to see the world around her that she's been kept away from for so many years."Rapunzel...
