"Freche Mädchen 2" or "Cheeky Girls 2" is a German 90-minute movie from 2010 and as the title already suggests the second about Mila and the others from the Bianka-Minte König books. This is film/literature aimed particularly at girls and I also think that they are the only ones who may enjoy this sequel here because the content is so specific, but also because the quality is relatively low at times where I would say it is simply unappealing for all other target groups. The cast includes names like Niewöhner, Rohde, Brandt, Brückner, Schöneberger and Tom Gerhardt plays a goofy music teacher who may have the best moments of the film I guess, even if this is also not because they are great, but because everything else is just so forgettable. Story-wise, it is exactly what you would think. Lots of focus on amorous relationships, but also on the friendship between the girls. Music plays a major component here as well, but what we get to hear is admittedly embarrassingly bad at times. It's certainly a bit on the embarrassing side how the film, especially Hanna's character, try to convince the audience that the music is ungeneric and special and not mainstream in here while that is exactly what it is. Admittedly, you have to say that Selina Shirin Müller is not as bad as in the first film.

Emilia Schüle plays her part while looking as nice as always and without really making any negative or positive scenes. Not enough though either for a quality lead performance. The romance with Markus (I somehow found him really unlikable, maybe because I kinda like Niewöhner as an actor) did very little to me and honestly the way she realizes he is her true love eventually is schmaltzy and cringeworthy to say the least, especially with the singing blending in the very moment afterward. Feels all stages and never touching or authentic. On a more positive note, the comedy in here was at times pretty good, the little jokes they included, so it is a bit of a shame they messed up so much in other fields as from the comedic perspective, there was some potential in here for sure and I was sometimes pretty positively surprised. So I would say that I already wasn't a huge fan of the first film and I am also not a fan of this one, but the reasons are different. You can check out my reasons on the title page of the original film if you care. Overall, this one here gets a thumbs-down and it's fine to see they did not make a third film because the quality just never was there in these first two. Schüle is enjoying a great career anyway without these films. Finally, it needs to be said that some of the people working on this one here also worked on "Mädchen Mädchen" earlier and it needs to be said that with all the weak one can say about "Freche Mädchen", it is never on a horrific level like "Mädchen Mädchen", but also not good enough to check it out. Watch something else instead.
