Mrs Romano

Much loved author, foody and restauranteur Robyn Romano vanishes, blood is left at the scene, leaving Detectives and her wife fearing the worst.

I've really taken to this show, and this second Elsie is another very enjoyable, intriguing mystery, a step up from the very good opener.

I'm still a little surprised by the lack of humour, I thought there would have been a few jokes thrown in, particularly when you take Scarborough's comedy pedigree into account, but it's fairly dry.

It's well acted, the performances of Joseph Milson and Pooky Quesnel stood out for me, both very natural, but again it's Adrian Scarborough who stood out, I'm keen to see how the relationship with his wife progresses.

They make the most of the location, Chelsea of course looks terrific.

Maybe ...... Nah!

Episode one delivered disappointment, but the outside possibility that there was potential for improvement, and so we gave episode two a go. Should have followed our instincts.

A ramshackle plot populated by cardboard cut-out characters, with a little ginger bloke on a bike trying to piece it all together. We enjoy slow paced mysteries, but sometimes the slow pace has to be a bit above that of a push-bike and, the mystery has to actually be mysterious.

Commissario Montalbano would have been far more the man for sorting out a high-end Italian restaurant, but he didn't get the gig, more's the pity.
