Nish Kumar in Late Night Mash (2021)

Trivia

Late Night Mash

Edit
On Friday, 20th May 2022, UKTV announced that they have commissioned a 9-episode second series of the topical comedy programme. Series will be filmed and air on UKTV's comedy-orientated channel Dave in Autumn 2022. Rachel Parris replaces the departing Nish Kumar as host.
At the end of the final edition of the first series, host Nish Kumar announced that he was stepping down from the role. UKTV's comedy orientated channel Dave will decide on the future of the show in due course. Late Night Mash has under-performed in overnight ratings after a good start to the first series. 301,000 viewers tuned in to the debut edition but this fell sharply to an average of around 150,000 for the series. However, episodes have consistently done well on Dave's time-shift channel Dave Ja Vu and on the UKTV Play video on demand service.
A number of The Mash Report regulars including Rachel Parris, Geoff Norcott and perhaps most noticeably Ellie Taylor were absent from editions of the first series due to recording dates clashing with stand-up tours and other commitments - many of which had had to be rearranged due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
On Friday, 10th March 2023, UKTV confirmed that the satirical, topical comedy will not be returning for a third series. A spokesperson for the broadcaster stated, "We are all immensely proud of the show and it has been a pleasure being able to bring it to the Dave audience, however, we can confirm that Late Night Mash will not return for another series. We are hugely grateful to Rachel Parris, who made history as the first solo female host of a satirical news programme and who masterfully captained the cast of outstanding comics through the most recent series. And a massive thanks to Zeppotron for bringing Mash to us, we'd like to thank everyone involved in the show and we look forward to finding new ways to work together again in the future."
