  • Hats off to chiranjevi for giving major screen space to Ravi Teja who's entry in 2nd half lifts the whole film undoubtedly a sankranti winner , also one can witness vintage chiru's 90's swag simple yet charming dance moves & style also his performance in 2nd half was top notch in emotional quotient too... Mass Maharaj's entry is defined the movie with success badge and his performance was simply superb without whom this achievement was impossible..... Despite DSP's repeated tunes couple of foot tapping numbers is a feast for every mega star fans.... The poor VFX is a major drawback of the film to the given budget... Overall it's just a timepass flick to passout with nothing new to offer and director just intended to play a safe game.
  • While the Sankranthi festival plays a crucial role in the Telugu calanders, so does the movies released in this duration. As everyone's set free and each want themselves to get entertained so, these film enthusiasts prefer watching films in theatre. And the films released are mostly made for the masses so, one cant expect a film with good content. You either have to enjoy the film with the fans or prefer to watch it in the ott.

Now coming to this year's release, waltair veerayya starring, Chiranjeevi, Shruthi hassan, rajendra prasad, Bobby simha and others, is a highly recommend movie for the fans and can assure that it'll definitely be an action ride to them. Director K. S Ravindra aka Bobby directed this movie with his own style. Such fanboy movies doesn't only attract the Audience, it remains in their mind for a long time. Same happened with waltair veerayya. The high rise scenes of Chiranjeevi, his comedy timing will definitely gets registered. Also the attempt to bring the vintage chiru back, can be seen. Genuinely saying, the people from the late 80s will like this movie more Than the gen z. Because of bringing back the vintage chiru, as I earlier said.

    Coming to the story

Veerayya a person who runs an ice factory, gets into trouble with ACP Vikram Sagar. What actually led to the confrontations, and to know who the antagonist is, needs to be watched.

Performance by the cast was good, moreover it being a mega star's movie leads to his domination. The wishes of many people to see the vintage chiru has been fulfilled by Bobby. The first half was filled with some gags and some unintended puns. While, some people may not find these sequences joyous. Shruthi Hassan did well and the role actually suited her. And entering into the interval sequence, to my utter surprise, it was an ecstatic experience. The mass fight scene and the fiery bgm by Rockstar DSP need to be appreciated. Kudos to them. Overall the first half ends with a good bang.

Second half picks the pace with mass Maharaja Ravi Teja entrance.

The song 'poonakalu loading' is a feast to the fans. To watch their heroes dancing, the audience may start skaking their legs. And nothing keeps the audience engaging, except the fights and confrontations between the protagonist and the antagonist.

The dialogues and the punch lines were very well written and aptly suits to the role of chiru.

The VFX was not at all tolerable and entirely dirturbs the mood. I felt it could've been improved. Another point to be added , is the weak climax, It felt as if I'm watching baaghi 3 .

To be very honest, there's nothing else to be pointed out, except this.

    Coming to the conclusion

Waltair Veerayya is a perfect Sankranti film. Don't keep your expectations high, just watch it with the masses . You will enjoy the film for sure.
  • Waltair Veerayya review:

The latest Chiranjeevi masala entertainer brought back fond memories of his two successful Hindi ventures - Pratibandh (1990) and Aaj Ka Goonda Raaj (1992). The claps and whistles in the single screen I visited were still intact for the ageless megastar who shines in the titular role of a dubious fisherman with a tragic past..

Indeed, at sixty seven years, Chiru still looks convincing beating his brawny opponents to pulp as well as romancing a girl half his age (Shruti Haasan). The megastar pulls it off and how!!

Admittedly, the plot and execution is rooted in the '90s and might feel largely over the top for 2023. But its still fun to watch and most importantly, packs in all the ingredients you crave for in a commercial movie. There is action, there is emotion, there is bromance, there is a love angle and there is an item song. Yup, Urvashi Rautela pops up to shake a hip with megastar Chiru while Shruti Haasan gets some high octane action sequences apart from the routine song and dance.

The icing on the cake comes immediately post interval when the title reads Mass Maharaja Ravi Teja and the star makes a spectacular entry carrying a small goat. By the way, that goat shows more emotions than what our very own Arjun Kapoor displayed in his latest flop called Kuttey!!

Ravi and Chiru's scenes are the movie's highlight and the penultimate one will give goosebumps to their fans. Special mention of the action scene just before the interval with the megastar atop an elephant. That was truly a 'taalimaar' moment!!

All in all, Waltair Veerayya is worth your ticket price. Provided you have an appetite for the masala entertainers of yore. Mega and Mass fans obviously cannot miss it!!

    Regards, Sumeet Nadkarni.
  • The movie has all the commercial elements but in abnormal and uneven concentrations. I mean comedy, style , swag , entertainment quotient all are present but in very odd and unconvincing manner.

Director:- K. S. Raveendra aka Bobby presented in very odd manner . It could have been lot better.

Acting:-Chiranjeevi did decent performance, Shruti Hassan is Just a glamour coefficient.

An actor like Bobby simha and his potential is completely wasted. I was just irritated the way director handled Bobby simha.

Music:- DSP music is good . It is catchy . But bgm is loud . It could have been better.

So finally movie is good . But it could have been better.
  • The first half was great from title of Chiru to the interval the interval sence is the best interval sence i ever watched. The chiru dialogue were awesome 👍 the second half was ok the climax was not much great but RaviTeja character was great the comedy timing between chiru and RaviTeja was great.

Overall the moive is commercial entertainment moive for chiru fans it is come back and for other it is a comedy, drama, entertainment moive.

Postive points :- 1) songs 2) interval sence and fight sences 3)chiru and RaviTeja enter sences Negative points :- 1) the second half can be more better 2) the bgm of second half can be more nice.
  • Positives.

    1. Chiru sir and Ravanna.

Chiru sir was great as Veerayya. It almost felt like I was vintage Chiru be honest. He was very lively, likable, and after a point, sympathetic and gets us to emotionally connect with his character. Along with Chiru sir, Ravanna was also great and got us to connect with him in the minimal time he had. The scenes between them weren't written well, but it was still engaging due to their performances. The only bad thing in their performances though is their slang. Veerayya's Vizag slang and Vikram's Telengana slang were unnecessary and the director shouldn't have added it into the movie.

    2. DSP BGM.

Though the songs were forgettable, I have to go it to DSP anna. Even though some BGMs were mediocre. Without his BGM, some scenes wouldn't have been that memorable. Especially the pre-climax scene.

    3. Interval Bang.

For people who haven't seen it, see the movie at least for that scene. It's the peak of the movie, and everything was great in that scene be it the direction, cinematography, especially DSP anna's BGM.

    4. Basic Story.

The basic story of the character Veerayya was good albeit it's routine. It had the potential to become a classic commercial movie. It had space for good comedy, good action scenes, good emotional scenes, good scenes with Sruthi Hassan, etc. Etc., but unfortunately the reason with movie ends up being only decent and not great is only because of one person and that person is...

    Negatives

    1. Bobby.

Yes, Bobby himself. Note that I said Bobby and not story, screenplay, dialogues, direction. It's all because he was the one who did everything with everything to make a great movie and handled it like an amateur. Even though I liked the basic story, he could've done many things to make it less predictable and more entertaining. Even though he didn't write the screenplay by himself (he had help from Kona Venkat and K. Chakravathy Reddy), he had a hand in it and could've somehow convinced his aides and vice versa to make the screenplay way better. Seriously, there too many unneccessary points in the script of the movie which should've been removed such as some side characters like poor Vennela Kishore, Pradeep Rawat and Anish Kuruvilla and some unnecessary reactions and songs and replaced them with more scenes that try to get us to emotionally connect with the gang and Shruti Hassan. It would've made things more fun. Along with that, even though I liked how he introduced some more emotional depth and flaws to Veerayya in the second half, it was completely predictable and would've been better if he took care of it. Along with that, he should've written the pre-climax and climax scene of the movie way better. The only reason why the pre-climax is better than the climax is the BGM and the climax is too 80s-level melodramatic and the screenplay could've been way better in this parts. It was so mediocre that Neekemo and the scene before it comes out of nowhere and should've been edited out. Coming to the direction, he should've used many things in this movie way better. For example, DSP. The songs are mediocre and as a Chiru fan, he should've at least made DSP give a good album--especially since Chiru-DSP is a famous combo known for great albums like Shankar Dada MBBS, Shankar Dada Zindabad, and Andarivaadu--,but what we got was completely mediocre, except the title track which I loved. But nevertheless, along with DSP, he should've used his other technicians to make the movie look better from a CGI and cinematography POV, and along with that, he should've directed the movie how the scenes demanded. It would've made the movie an actual good movie.

Overall, I think that this movie had the potential to become a classic in Chiru sir's career, but was spoiled due to Bobby.
  • Please grow up tollywood if not we will end up like Bollywood. Chiru not expected from you.. kala kabali vikram guru these are kind of movies expected from veterans not like this please stop making movies ..don't loose your respect. So much money wasted ...this is not 80's or 90's. This is outrageous unacceptable .. Chiru is being fooled..young age directors are doing wonders and this fellow with so much resources stellar cast just wasted the opportunity. Karnan ...Asuran..drishyam kantara tumbad ..when can we expect movies like that from tollywood. Maa oori polimera was a gem but failed due low production values if this trend goes on another Bollywood situation will repeat..please wake up ...Chiru pls stop making movies.
  • Watched the premium show in Dallas. Had fun watching it, no dull movements though some flaws here and there. Raviteja role is good, he justified his role well.

There are few jokes but expected more. But over all much better movie than his last two movies Acharya and Godfather. Pretty decent job by the director.

Though heroine choice not apt, ( they would have chosen bit older lady), she tried to act well in her limits.

Rajendra Prasad did his role well unlike few other movies where he over does.

Two songs and sequences were good but other songs were mediocre. Overall I am satisfied with the content, if not the greatest movie. Chiranjeevi being old generation actor having his own flaws, he did lead the movie very well, carried movie effortlessly.
  • Director Bobby Brilliant work. Thanks for being a true fan and quenching thirst of millions of diehard mega fans! Mad ensure every character is justified. Awesome awesome way of showing Megastar Chiranjeevi Megastar at his vintage best. Raviteja at his versatile best. Bobby at his direction best. DSP music at his BGM best! Should appreciate Director #BobbyKolli garu for never failing the logic in the screenplay even for a moment. Tight screenplay. The way he made Megastar utter the trending memes/jokes is howlarious. Inka Megastar Araachakam Aarambham! Team's confidence justified WaltairVeerayya. Few words about my Boss, Megastar Chiranjeevi is truly back, he makes you laugh with his antics 80% of the movie and in one scene he makes you cry with his innocence.

I do not know why Chiranjeevi chooses this kind of story. Absolute BS movie. I do not know do they people are fools?

Storyline is BS and the dialogues are chiranjeevi is that great and this great these kind of trips are cheap.

  • I tempted to the brotherhood sentiment of Mega chiru and Mass raviteja 😄 I hope 2023 sankranti fest is celebrated in the theatres! Sruthi Hasan again looking in the fighter look, Catherine Tresais also done herself best character. And the main thing is Chiranjivi is not compromised in her character, maintained well! Raviteja give the best action of a police,I think everyone felt very happy at the theatres and chiranjivi again looking like adarivaadu movie style, some dialogues are also beautiful so I hope movie is going to a biggest hit and all the best to babi the director of Waltair Veerayya for the further movies.
  • Good : Good graphics maintained well shown scenes , great bgm and music and second hero introduction.

Bad : Common story plot , Over fight scenes, bad characterization.

    View Content : Overall watchable.

    Ratings : 3/5.

Story : A revange story, which is between a back family and a factionist who is having a big connections among Country selling drugs. Good graphics scenes maintained, set of good location for story scenes, hero introduction was great with bgm by DSP. Cool dress designs for characters, some scenes needs to be shown needs to complete the story, some scenes make unending story for them.
  • Used to watch and like Chiru's movies a lot, but this one predictably disappointed. It is definitely a Chiru's desperate attempt to come back to silver screen (God Father is far better than this, if you compare). With Sruthi hassan, Chiru is looking so pale acting hero with no-chemistry and silly forceful unnecessary scenes.

And movie story line is really silly and sometimes boring and funny dialogues (with reminding you of dialogues and scenes from Kodanda Rami reddy, Dasari narayana rao movies, very predictable sometime silly scenes and dialogues sometimes).

And Ravi Teja's dialogues in Telangana accent really makes worse. He should have practiced the accent better and more, but his forceful (sometimes mixed with his regular style) is funny and not appealing.

Another time-waste attempt like Bheemli Nayak.

    Typical Tollywood's mass masala entertainer

Pros - Movie actually delivers full meals satisfaction . Action , Comedy , Sentiment , Dance and Mass were very well balanced and worked in most of the places . Chiranjeevi delivered an energetic performance . Ravi Teja's extended cameo in second half was another highlight to the movie . Technical wise , cinematography was good .

Cons - Editing was average and clumsy in few places . Few scenes were poorly staged with below par VFX , especially some of the action part . DSP music and songs were good in few places, especially interval sequence , but overall wasn't quite convincing .

Overall , a typical Tollywood's mass masala family entertainer to watch . Give it a try , I hope you like it .

    • RAVI TEJA FAN.

Appreciated that Bobby was able to show us the old charismatic chiranjeevi with his dance, comedy timing, dialogues and personality. Raviteja and Chiru combo was well showcased and the movie was kept entertaining throughout. Emotional scenes were done pretty good. I found the initial intro scenes to be quite cringy and over inflated. Like I don't want to see the Indian navy and raw to be undermined as such. Also, the last song of the movie was completely out of context and really spoiled the emotions we carry towards the end. Like most directors, Bobby seemed to have rushed the ending, which was not at all matching the vibe of the whole 2hrs. But after watching the movie, I would definitely recommend people to watch it. Finally, it's a great movie for sankranthi and I hope vintage chiru is back!
  • Routine story, no good dance moves for boss, boss comedy is okay, first half is completely boring.item song is ok, ravi teja action is good and ravi teja attitude is good in the movie ,drugs plot has become routine in all movies , sruthi Hassan twist is good ,over all movie is boring.not sure why the hell this got 7.3 ratings.boss dance steps are literally week, look like they wanted to make money for this pongal, the movie is very dull first half and second Half is okay , i am giving two rating for item song and ravi teja action , coming to director bobby kolli , i liked his old movie jai lava kusa directed by him , action and sentimental plots of jr ntr was very nice ,dialogues are good, but not sure what happened to him for this movie waltheir veerayy 👎🏻👎🏻👎🏻👎🏻👎🏻
  • The film is packed with all the mass and comedy elements expected from Megastar. This would be an enjoyable watch with family. Besides the predictable story, all the elements worked perfectly well in the film.

The action blocks worked good. The film has an excellent introduction, mega massive interval block. Superb start to the second half with the introduction of Mass Maharaj Raviteja. The emotion scenes between them worked very well. At this age Megastar's comic timing is unbelievable. It ends with a usual action climax and a high voltage scene. This movie is made for megastar fans to recollect and celebrate Megastar Chiranjeevi on the Silver screen.

Waltair Veerayya directed by Bobby Kolli is an average commercial entertainer that can be given a watch. Veerayya, a fisherman, tracks down a gangster called Micheal to take revenge. The writing is simply written, which can be a one-pager, and has the main commercial elements that any Indian movie would have and focuses on the characterizations of the leading actors. The screenplay was plain and mediocre, giving predictability to the story on screen. Not much weight was given to the story or the screenplay. The direction was also done in a regular manner, not giving any new nuances or surprise factors. The characterization of the lead actor's character was designed well, which is one of the biggest highlights of the movie. The action sequences have above average, and the interval sequence has stood out. The performances done by the principles cast were well done, especially Chiranjeevi's performance, which was outdone for his character and lifted up the film. Ravi Teja's presence stands out and so does his performance. The cinematography was well done, which was outstanding in some scenes. The music was averagely done and was placed in the wrong order. Overall, Waltair Veerayya is an average revenge drama that could be given a watch by the family audience.

Atypical Telugu mass masala entertainer, an atypical generic story backed by 2 mass actors who try their best to entertain us with a slightly touchy emotional drama sprinkled on top of it and slightly unexpected twists & turns also sprinkled over it.

It is a wondering thought how these people are still enjoying these kinda films and making it possible for these filmmakers to do more of these kinda films.

The only good thing about it is that so many technicians around making these films get a livelihood.

If the film didn't have both of these big actors, it is nothing but trash.

Overall, if you like watching Telugu films a lot, then the film might be for you otherwise it could be skipped.
  • It a treat to watch chiranjeevi in this kind of looks, Comedy timing is superb. Songs are good. Chiranjeevi' s dance is good at the age of 67.

1st half: Gives you high when you come out at intervel 2nd half: 2 scenes in last 20 Mins make you irritated 1. Chiranjeevi's introduction scene is too good, it's like never before in his movies 2. Comedy timing .

    3. Songs are awesome to watch 4. Interval bang is outstanding.

    5. Raviteja and Chiranjeevi scenes feel good to watch 6. Chiranjeevi acting in sentiment secens.

    7. Very bad timing of Andamekkuva song which make irritated 8. Overall good movie.
  • I regret watching this movie. Poor story and screen play, too much violence, untimely songs and fights, barely sprinkled comedy bits hear and there. I wonder what are Rajendra Prasad, Pradeep Rawat, Shruti Hasan, Subbaraju, Srinivasa Reddy doing in this movie with so little to do. It's already established not to look for neither logic not sense in Telugu masala movies but this is a visual nightmare. I think Chiranjeevi can now take a leaf out of Ramcharan's movie selection. DSP outdid his worst with this music. All in all, Bobby deserves a standing ovation for producing this Razzie deserving movie.
  • Warning: Spoilers
If your not having high expectations on story then it is a fun entertainer. I had little hopes from the start, mainly due to none of Bobby's movies truly working for me. Yet I enjoyed it quite a bit and thought it showcased vintage chiru and his timing perfectly. The movie never got boring, but doesn't mean it's a great movie. Just a mindless fun mass entertainer which we expect for Sankranthi, where Chiru is entirely in his element.

Chiranjeevi looks are quite good especially considering his age, I liked his styling as well. And the timing was exactly what I have been waiting. Aa Chiranjeevi yedi anukuntu unnanu ayane vachesadu. Anavasaramga boss is back ani chala sarlu annaru, really he is back now. I didn't like Godfather, Acharya, KN 150, and thought Sye Raa was kinda good for context. Some scenes were hilarious, few cringe but worked in theaters. Some scenes truly showed vintage Chiru, and the call backs were largely fun. Honestly the purpose of watching this movie is to watch Chiru in his element and referring back to some of his blockbusters.

I though Sruthi Hassan would get no role but she had a decent role and was not the typical flowerpot role, only thing is she didn't have to be a heroine. The whole movie she felt like Chiru's daughter. In fact many actors with great comic timing are present yet they are not utilized which made me sad. But scenes looked colorful.

Basically, first half ends on a massive high and runs on Chiru's timing. Story is fine, it's quite reminiscent of Chiru's Jai Chiranjeeva. Some twists and turns are presented and are fun in theaters though if you think a lot are not too impressive to be honest. And interval bang high is insane, mainly due to DSP.

The second the second half begins anyone can guess the rest of the story. Ravi Teja - Chiru are really good but the writing for the scenes in between them could have been better to make the emotion flourish, the emotion was lacking in the writing there. I wish there was a better connect to their bonding, but I just felt like okay this will happen next. If it wasn't for their performances and the fun generated it would have entirely fallen flat.

Second half was not up to the mark of the first half in all honesty but Chiru energy and timing saved it along with Ravi Teja being a cracker, allowing it to work despite it being predictable. Never got bored and felt entertained throughout except few scenes here and there.

The downside of the movie is Bobby and his direction in my opinion. Chiru being in his element and the support Ravi Teja added saved the movie. The movie had a decent story and mediocre taking. Definitely the best movie Bobby had directed and he squeezed all the nostalgia possible from Chiru. But with the talent at hand and proper writing, a much better film could have been made. However, going in with low expectations I was entertained and after all the recent crap Chiru made I just wanted to see him being humorous and this movie gave me what I wanted.

I hated the songs before. Some songs feel fine now, but still not good. But the Neeku Thondareekuva song had the worst placement. At the same time Veerayya song was really good and BGM was awesome, manchi powerful BGM ichadu DSP.

Also if going with family beware there is a rly high dose of action and violence.

Overall fun Sankranthi entertainer. If you want solid action and a mass comedy look no further. Don't go in with high expectations you are bound to be disappointed. This was my first US premiere experience, so it was even more enjoyable and entertaining. Chiru in his element after long, and that is an event.
  • Movie is a festival feast. Ind blowing direction. It's a Tsunami. Megastar action, comedy, dance and fights OMG it's a amazing experience. Afetr a long time, felt that I watched a good movie. Watching 2 times already. It is wroth wathcing.

Bobby direction from the beginning, production values and sentiment everything is amazing. Comedy scenes from chiranjeevi are highlight. The interval fight and dialogues btween Ravi Teja nd MEgstart are relaly good. Ravi Teja energy is added value to the movie. But Megastar action simply amazing. What a movie. IT is a good lesson to people who are writing negative reviews. But no on ecan stop a good movie.
