  • Telugu mass cinema has never been one for logic and realism, but certain films insult the intelligence of audiences so much that they become unwatchable after a certain point. "Ghost" from Nagarjuna is one such barrage of endless cliches stuffed between some well-choreographed action sequences, that tests your patience while giving you a massive headache from the mayhem going on pointlessly on screen.

Superstar Nagarjuna stars as "Vikram" an ex-Interpol agent who is forced to come out of retirement after some business rivals threaten his sister (Gul Panag) and her family. Aided by his ex-flame "Priya" (Sonal Chauhan), how he turns the tables on the people out to harm them form the rest of this super-cliched, oft-repeated storyline.

Director Praveen Sattaru who had previously delivered the National Award-winning romance anthology "Chandamama Kathalu" in 2014, is clearly out of sorts in this film and was unable to leverage the talented cast he had at his disposal. Nagarjuna's trademark style and panache is utilized only in the action sequences, with the dialogue and confrontations with the antagonists lacking any real tension, suspense or mass elevation.

The stunt choreography from Dinesh Subbarayan and Kecha are the lone saving grace of the film, although why an ex-Interpol supercop has to resort to katana swords to tackle gun-wielding gangsters is beyond me. It also doesn't help matters that these stylish fight sequences are interspersed between large, boring sections of plot points and contrived twists that you can see coming from a mile away.

Nagarjuna, Sonal Chauhan and Anikha Surendran turn in the best possible performances given the laughably inept scripts they were given to work with, but cannot save this film from being anything but an eyesore and an earsore. "Ghost" will be a difficult watch for even the most hardcore of Nagarjuna fans and is definitely not recommended! Avoid at all costs!

I was browsing Netflix just as this movie was released decided to settle for it as I love south indian movies.

Nagarjuna is known for style and action but he couldnt save this weak script. The movie had taken bits from John Wick, Taken and some other Liam Neeson movies.

At times you can tell Nagarjuna is standing in front of a green screen.

Overall production value was good but the plot was full of loopholes, the whole underworld is afraid of one man is rather far fetched, but then again you gotta turn off logic to enjoy the movie.

The premise was really good but very weak delivery.

I have given up on bollywood a long time ago, I hope south cinema doesnt start going in same direction with such movies.
  • Good byt could have been better. They tried but still falls short. Nagarjuna was good and most of the cast were given decent performance. Some of the scenes were real good but some felt cringe and overdone. Could have left the family drama out of the movie and we would have gotten a shorter runtime and basically a better picture. Sword fights which I looked forward to was a letdown other than at some instances. They were not using the proper stance which anyone in this day and age can know with the help of Internet. Small things like that could have elvated the movie more , overall its just a one time watch decent movie with some lag and the bgm gets old too soon as it is played most if the runtime.
  • The Only Good thing about this movie is Sonal Chauhan, someone after so many years realised that she can be a better action star. Rest everything is waste of money, time and stamina. I wonder how come this people are wasting so much money for cringy stuff like this. Nagarjuna should take a retirement now, his age was visible in every scene. Gul Panag was wasted like never before. Other actors are also almost wasted. The major disappointment of this one is the story. It starts with a bang and ends up with nothing. All Said And Done simply give it a pass unless you are a diehard fan of Sonal chauhan.

Couldn't understand a single logical making of this movie. It seems movie was made after signing of the movie and story was changed multiple times while making it.

Nagarjuna Akkineni, is not an ordinary actor, having some very famous movies under his belt, but this one was perhaps the poorest of all. The first half of the movie is complete stupid, with utmost horrible action scene. Since when terrorist are trading in the middle of a desert with no cover around and having tents. Any one with a BB gun could have simply a duck hunt.

Then there is another part of the movie and then merging it to the first.

    All the above sounds ridiculous?

Imagine how the movie would be.

    Ignore it.

One of the worst and senseless movie, they don't even know spy means nd ghost meaning, don't waste your time. Everything about this movie is bad, story telling, writing, direction, action , acting , dubbing. Bhai jisne bhi hindi dubbed kiya hai Salaam hai usko, koi emotions nahi hai awaz mein, nd this movie is joke on spy movies.

I hope they work hard before making movies how spy works nd process and steps , but for now don't waste your time watching this movie , Nagarjuna acting is as bad as it could be , if this movie gets 5 star then any movie can get 5 stars, you just gets bored after 30 mins this movie doest make sense at all.
  • I always look for these kind of genres which are rare. Praveen tried to make a slick action thriller, he wants to do something like Hollywood movies like John wick, man on fire.

    Background score is okay.

Nag is terrific and so doesn't other actors.

Only problem is that Praveen couldn't make a proper script. Action is good but Nag never had problem. He killed everyone with ease, never got connected to emotions. A good opportunity goes wasted. Praveen sattaru can definitely make a better movie, his approach towards story is not good but we can laud his idea of filmmakingz

We can appreciate the attempt but fall short A glossy costly flop but a part of me appreciates the attempt.
  • Warning: Spoilers
The gun used in last fight is what arnold used in terminator 3, atleast arnold took some damage from police firing but nag didn't even take single bullet from nearly 20+ peoples shooting him in close range. In remaining fights villans have a great sympathy, while nag was killing them brutally they just put gun at nag head and wait until nag cut their hands in many scenes. Nag kills nearly 150-200 peoples without taking single scratch. Better introduce his character as super hero so that might be convincing and this illogical scenes have some meaning. Last villan is a god level camper with a gun, he is infront of nag and he can take a shot while nag is killing more than 50+ enemies but instead he just watch and giveup to this nonsense.
  • I would rather watch Monsters Inc or Addams Family than watch this trash.

    1. The heights of hypocrisy Nagarjuna holds is commendable: His ex-DIL wasn't supposed to act in "mediocre" clothing and intimate scenes, but he being a father of 2 can do an extremely sensual sing with heroine younger than his sons.

    2. It would be delightful to know the no of more films we have to wait to actually see Nagarjuna Acting.

    3. I get the PAN india hype, but common I can barely see any "Telugu" actors. I watch Tamil or Malayalam films and I get the nativity vibe. But Telugu movies have lost their roots these days! If the role needed someone then bring them in. But having just non-Telugu as a trend makes no sense. Every voice sounds dubbed and its irritating. Its like watching a K-drama in Hindi (all voices dubbed).

    4. Please go back to remaking korean (or some other) movies, those were at least better with story lines. I will rewatch even the remake of Great Indian Kitchen. Please, don't get creative.

Movie is good as the fans want Nagarjuna to see director had shown the Hero in that way. Nagarjuna is stylish ever Macho Man nice taking wonderful fights.overall worth watching in Nagarjuna is directors hero as they show him he appears in that way it is upto Directors to show him on screen. In that sense Director Praveen had shown Nagarjuna very well he succeeded.story line is simple but showing on the screen is good Heroine has done nice job both glamour wise and action wise she is stunning.overall action packed stylish nice worth watch movie. Nagarjuna sir must do this type of movies now and then because once upon a time he became star by doing this type of Mach Man movies.
  • Cheap imitation of kamala hasan vikram movie

Headache and waste of time and money btter go watch vikram once agin.

Some scenes flicked from jhon wick and taken too

Story is similar to erstwhile nagarjunas movie killer.

    Time pass one time watch

Watch if u have nothing else to see

Else better watch RRR or Vikram once again.

  • Do not waste your time unless you are a diehard and unapologetic fan of Nagarjun.

He burst on the scene in the early 90s with the mega hit action movie Shiva that forced all of India to take notice (and oh btw that had the awesome Raghuvaran who "appears" in this as well... a nice touch!) Sadly he is forced to continue that role in 2022 as well and it rings nothing but hollow now.

Unless you leave all expectations, common sense, your brains everything left behind when you watch this movie and agree to be insulted with the lowest intellectual expectations possible of the audience, this movie is unwatchable.

It borrows freely from John Wick (itself based on a comics character and meant only for Keanu fans) and ratchets up the outrageousness by several factors.

The production tries to paper it all over with some superficial gloss, editing, camera work, color palettes, what have you all of which only end up with egg on everyone's face including the hapless and trapped audience.

Neither Nagarjun, nor Gul Panag nor a Sonal Chauhan trying to be Lara Croft, can save this embarrassment and assault on common sense and basic expectations.

Do not watch, run in the opposite direction!!!

Another star casted boring film with no substance! Too many cliche portrayal of scenes and characters you see in many movies. It seems the storyline have borrowed heavily on previous actions scenes and themes. Lead actor Nagarjuna can't able to save this film though he done his job well. What seems to very tough is the narrative and poor storyline. The characters are very easily predictable and presented in poorly manner. I really wondering what qualification requires to be scrip writer and director who oversees the end result of their product? Action sequences are poorly made and badly executed.

Vikram (Nagarjuna) is an interpol agent who after a failed rescue mission, quits his job & becomes a freelancer. When his estranged sister Anu (Gul Panag) reaches out to him to protect her daughter Aditi & herself from the multiple death threats they have been recieving, he flies all the way to India to protect his only family. How he protects them while unearthing the bad men behind the death threat forms rest of the story.

It is a simple done to death story narrated stylishly. The first act is an outright downer with the songs not being good & mainly the narration entirely faltering in creating any emotional connect between the characters. They turned out as superficial as they can. It is once the action begins, the film softens up. The predictable scenes don't allow the story to rise above the shallow the narrative. In the end it's just part Taken part John Wick, without having any originality. The lack of a strong villain also undermines the whole third act.

In short, just an easy peasy mission for the hero. The lenient rating is for the action scenes only. Make it through the first act, the film gets far more bearable.
  • Nagarjuna's The Ghost movie is just ok with too much buildup for nothing and little bit John Wick Vibes with Man of Fire template.

BGM 🔥 with unnecessary songs & Nag looks could have been far better, No complaints but looks weak and disinterested

Actress part was limited to certain section but still better than many films, Nag was not so good im not sure he was settling with easy scenes and execution. I see the scale imagined was really great, shooting across 5 countries one would imagine high stakes and scenes but all scenes are just ordinary.

Director/Writer should have worked together to bring some freshness in script and scenes. This movie lacks wow moment for such a Badass Title.

    🎦 Ratings - 5/10 #Netflix #theghostreview #nagarjuna #nagarjunaakkineni.
  • Nagarjuna is a really talented veteran in the field of tollywood cinema. Somehow I am surprised to see him falter in this movie. It felt as if Nagarjuna was forced to spell out the dialogues much against his wishes. There's no feeling, there is no belongingness when it comes to the dialogue delivery. Forced chemistry is what we see between the actor and the actress. Sonal Chauhan has no idea why she is acting, unaware of the chemistry, a role requires. She's just happy that she got a role, that too with The Legend- Nagarjuna. Both the actor and actress appear waiting for the director to say CUT for each scene. I always enjoyed watching Nagarjuna movies but this one I had to just quit after watching for 20 MINUTES... It is damn slow, atleast if they had created a web series out of this. Then it would not become yet another GHOST in the coffins of tollywood flops!
  • Just watched The Ghost on Netflix and I must tell that it is not-so-bad but decent action-packed entertainer for action movie lovers with power-packed action sequences and performances being the highlight of the film.

After a decent family outing 'Bangarraju' and fantasy film 'Brahmastra', Nagarjuna is back in his beast mode like the actor's previous movie 'Shiva' and Keanu Reeves's 'John Wick' and has brought out acting chops well. His fans would really like his intense mode in the film. Sonal Chauhan's role is not typical and is superb in action sequences. Watch her killing mode in the climax sword fight. Gul Palang did her best in her role as a businesswoman-cum-caring mother and 'Yennai Arindhaal' Anikha Surendran also did well in her role. Other actors like Ravi Varma, Srikanth Iyengar and Manish Chaudhari also did well in their roles.

The film's action sequences are the plus points of the film as they are well choreographed by Dilip Subbarayan and Kecha Khampadkee, and provides thrills. Music by Bharatt-Saurabh is forgettable snd unnecessary for a violent action film, but the background score by Mark. K. Robin is superb. Cinematography and editing helps the film and is good. Now Coming to director Praveen Sattaru, he has done a superb job by showcasing Nagarjuna in a stylish way and deserves mention for the action sequences. However, the antagonist characterization is weak and emotional weight is not effective. If the director would have taken care of these things, then it would have been converted into a franchise like John Wick.

Barring all these things, The Ghost can be enjoyed with its cast performances, action sequences and background score, but the antagonist characterization, emotional weight has spoilt it. Overall, this is a review from a normal-audience movie junk and watch this action packed-entertainer on Netflix with decent expectations for action film lovers.
  • This movie misses heroism, still can't digest such movies where the actor without muscle still shows the power which is not even convincible to the audience. Secondly, kiss scenes from Nagarjuna is not expected, this is unnecessary, and unwanted. He looks real old for the girl. The direction is boring, there are gaps in between the sequences, and it made it look more boring than appealing.

The girl was looking more old than charming, however she is generally fit for being lady cop, however that is not shown with a vibrant.

When it comes to alcohol, displaying alcohol brand is not expected by the movie too, when it comes to catering indian audience.

I had low expectation before i started watching it, but the movie is almost unwatchable containing mindless action and drama. First of all the cast is so weak, the hero role should have been given to some young actor, the actress although was still fitting better than the lead actor. The acting was very dull and full of cliche dialogues. Some shots don't even have any continuity and finally the vfx looks like done by some students for low budget, the blood splatter vfx was still ok but the rest of the work is just blah. It left me questioning why did i even attempt to watch this film. Please don't waste you time.

In Praveen Sattaru's film there's a 'Ghost,' as the underworld has dubbed him, whose real name is Vikram. He has to unleash a side to him he has kept hidden for a while now in order to protect his family. If the premise sounds familiar, that's where the similarities end. Because everything else Praveen pulls off in this film, while different, remain half-baked and on surface-level at best. Praveen tests out a lot of plot points with The Ghost, yet never gets deep enough to fully explore any of them. The ideas sound good on paper, even if cliché. Some of these plot points have massive chinks in logic though. We're told Vikram had a shaky childhood, he still has nightmares that sometimes keep him up, he has an issue with following orders, he's looking to fulfil a promise he made many years ago and his weapon of choice is a katana. And yet, the director never really delves deep into any of these, instead choosing to focus on corporate politics that are hardly anything unique.

Nag carries off the film on his shoulders. It is his show. He does the action scenes with ease. Sonal Chauhan as Preeti is alright despite limited on-screen presence. She is glamourous and also fights goons when the protagonist needed. But Vikram and Preeti's relationship look unconvincing where she disappeared initially and later lands up in the latter half.

The second half is a mess. The climax is excruciatingly bad. By adding "KGF"-like machine gun sequences and Kamal Haasan's Vikram-like fight scenes, Praveen Sattaru has spoiled it further. For a film that also talks about sister and niece, the sentiment scenes are superficial. On the whole, "The Ghost" is another senseless action drama with no effective storytelling.
  • This is an absolute pathetic work by Nagarjuna and Manish Shah. What a complete waste of time. They have not put even the slightest part of their brain while making this movie. Underworld Dons have asked for mercy from Ghost and the Ghost is more of a cartoon. Almost 90%, I was like, seriously!! How could Nagarjuna say Yes to this script and everytime I remembered his acting in Bramhastra, this is what he is. Pathetic actor. Why do people call him a great actor ? I couldn't find him acting at all. He can do anything and the villains are complete idiot but wait, that's what happens in most of the bollywood and a lot of south movies, isn't it ?

Warning - Please do not waste your time watching this.

The storyline, suspense and acting was good. The visuals and editing in some scenes really surpasses many Hollywood action scenes, especially the classic Scarface. The violence can be really extreme, although its very intense for those who don't like violence or films with too much bloodbath. But, the characters were very unique and different; and don't seem like a ordinary villians in many films. Though, watching the conflicting emotions of the main character, as he reflects in the past conflicts and civil unrest in the country with current crisis and retribution in his adult years, while he builds up this pent up anger that explodes at the end was powerful.
  • I don't what the other reviewers was expecting from this movie but I think they really missed the mark on this one. I don't understand why so many can't go in with an open mind. To enjoy the movie for what it is. Which is a fun movie with some great action scenes.

The script is great and the locations are Awesome. The views are so amazingly beautiful. I'd say the dialog was very good but as it is another language and has English subtitles it would be hard to say for sure. The action is well done with the fighting found in many movies from India. It is over the top as that can't happen in real life. But that is not just this movie as many action movies much of the fighting can't actually happen that way. Like in RED where one of the good guys shoots a round fired from a bazooka in mid flight with a pistol. I don't watch these movies cause they could be real but because they are fun to watch. I really liked Vikram Naidu aka The Ghost in how important family is to him. He would do anything to protect his family from anyone that threatens them. Although he does have a violent temper and flies off the handle at times. The character is very likable. If you just want to watch a movies that takes you mind off what is going on your life, this is a good one to see.
