OK, there is just a lot to talk about in this film. First of all, the subject, the Screen Gems LOGO, not the series, or the company itself, A LOGO. it looked like Highland was too cheap to film actual footage, so they stole it. Almost all of the film is stolen from random movies, like for example, a scene from Halloween 3, one of the old Doctor Who intros, and a BBC4 documentary, with the BBC4 logo intact. Also there's a scene where this girl is being chased by the Screen Gems logo, but it's blue, this might be confusion from the 1999 Screen Gems logo, or the Viacom V of Doom. A logo that is more scarier than the SG logo. But you know what is even more scarier than the V or S? The BND/VID Masks. Why didn't they make a documentary out of that?!? Anyways that is all!
  • Why would someone think about making a short film, about a logo, "A LOGO". It makes no sense at all, and the Screen Gems logo, is not that scary at all.

Rodney Ascher's "The S from Hell" refers to the first letter from "Screen Gems". So were they evil or what is this about? Apparently yes to the people interviewed in this 8-minute short film. However, to me it felt as if substance was missing here really. It felt like a collection of scenes that were never really scary or scared me even if there was some gore and violence. Also the aspect of the unknown danger and presence of the letter S did not really work. I guess most people will see this fake documentary as a comedy, but sadly it was never really funny. 4 out of 10 is even generous as this one is really not worth a watch. Not even for fans of the horror genre.
