  • No spoilers cause this just sets up the beginning of the next movie.

This short story sets up the heist that is at the beginning of Fast and Furious, the one where they hijack the fuel tankers in the Dominican Republic. Dom is working with his new partners Tego and Leo, you might remember them more from Fast5. First Dom calls upon the assistance of Han. Next they have to break Leo out of prison. There is a gas shortage in the Dominican Republic and they meet with a politician that is going to make it possible to obtain the gas the town needs. Then comes Letty, she finds Dom surrounded by "skanks", apparently this is the first time since episode 1, since at the end of 1 Dom is shown driving through Mexico alone. Dom leaves with Letty of course. The next day they take a romantic drive to the beach and re kindle their romance. You get to see a very tender part of Dom and Letty's relationship.

Very good setup, I always wondered what happened in the big gap between 1 and 4. Honestly after seeing 2fast and parts of Tokyo drift I was ready to call this franchise a dud, but Vin Diesels return resurrected it, Fast 5 being my favorite.

The second short film in the Fast & Furious franchise details the events prior to Fast & Furious (2009).

I don't know why they put Paul Walker and Jordana Brewster on this poster, coz they're not in the film.
  • It focuses on the pre-Fourth Fast and Furious movie. But it is released after the fourth movie. I wish it had been released in a chronological time like the first short film.

    Dom
Stupid they got got him basically cheating on Letty ...
  • I would say that the first half of this movie is boring but the second half where it shows how much letty and dom's relationship has grown and how much they mean to each other is amazing.

This One Was Absolutely Boring I Did Not Like It At All
  • It was hard after watching this 20-minute movie to rate it. I rated 4 out of 10, but I am really not sure about it. The whole 18 minutes the movie takes, I was wondering why a person should watch this video. It has not to do with fast cars running, people chasing, gunshots or any other kind of action. I mean that this film is not for the fans of Fast and the Furious.

What you see in this video is a typical day of Dom and his fellas in a village. Although I like the characters of this movie series, this wasn't satisfying. I have to admit that there was a quite beautiful landscape, but that's all. Nothing more.

I appreciate Vin Diesel as an action actor and I am a fan of some of his movies, especially Fast and the Furious, but he should not writing and directing movies. He is good enough at playing the guy that tears other people down.
  • Warning: Spoilers
Maybe you have to be a great fan of the "Fast&Furious" franchise in order to appreciate this 20-minute short movie. I am certainly not one of these, so possibly that's why I saw nothing memorable at all in this one here. The interactions are forgettable, action is non-existent and same goes for character development. I guess there is a reason why Vin Diesel has not written and directed more films. The only slightly positive thing in here was the music and the general Caribbean atmosphere all in all. Still that is of course not enough to make for a great movie, not even at such a short runtime. And this also does not make me curious about any of the F&F films. Not recommended.

As a big fan of the fast and furious series, i have to say that this was a waste of time. I will caveat that by saying i don't watch short films, mostly because i don't think that's enough time to do what it needs to do, to have a story and to make you care. Cause it definitely didn't have a story and i definitely didn't care (1 viewing, 6/18/2021)
  • "Los Bandoleros" serves as a prelude to the "Fast and Furious" franchise, directed by Vin Diesel himself. Set before the events of "Fast & Furious," the plot centers around Dominic Toretto (Vin Diesel) and his crew as they plan a heist in the Dominican Republic. The story explores the characters' relationships, introduces new faces, and provides some backstory to the main storyline.

While "Los Bandoleros" offers a glimpse into the characters' lives and motivations, it falls short in terms of overall impact. The film predominantly consists of dialogue-heavy scenes that focus on character interactions, which may not appeal to those seeking the franchise's signature high-octane action.

The plot, albeit serving as a precursor to "Fast & Furious," lacks the intensity and excitement that fans have come to expect. The heist itself feels more like a side story, overshadowed by the character dynamics and their personal lives. While this approach attempts to provide depth and context, it may leave some viewers wanting more in terms of action and thrills.

Despite its shortcomings, "Los Bandoleros" does offer some redeeming qualities. The chemistry between the cast members remains strong, and the performances are solid, particularly Vin Diesel's portrayal of Dom Toretto. The film also succeeds in showcasing the beautiful Dominican Republic setting, capturing the essence of the locale through picturesque visuals.

As a standalone short film, "Los Bandoleros" may not leave a lasting impression. However, for die-hard fans of the "Fast and Furious" franchise, it provides a glimpse into the characters' lives and offers some additional context to the overall narrative. While it may not be the most memorable entry in the series, it serves as a decent prelude that die-hard fans may appreciate.
  • Los Bandoleros. Beauty of the Dominican Republic. A short film by Vin Diesel that was made for no reason. In addition to pleasant music and beautiful views, the Dominican Republic brings nothing.
