- Natasha Romanoff and Clint Barton seek to destroy killer-robot Ultron following a cataclysmic event.
- In one reality, Ultron defeats the Avengers, acquires all six Infinity Stones, wipes out all life in its universe, senses the Watcher watching it, and travels throughout the Multiverse to wipe out all life, defeat the Watcher, and bring peace.—Gislef
- Natasha Romanoff rides her motorcycle through Russian ruins, and warns someone over the comms that they have 90 seconds. Drones fly out of the sky after her, and Natasha sets a ninety-second timer on her wristwatch. Clint Barton steps out and shoots the Ultron drones, bringing them down. He continues shooting at Natasha's pursuers, and Natasha takes evasive action through the ruins.
The drones spot Clint and land on the building he's on, and the cloaked Clint drives arrows through their heads and takes them on using both his bow and hand-to-hand. More drones arrive, and Natasha warns Clint that they have 30 seconds until the drones' signal reconnect with the hive. She jumps off her bike and fights the drones hand-to-hand, and takes them out with 18 seconds to spare.
The last two drones on the roof destroy Clint's cybernetic right arm and knock him off the building. As they prepare to kill him, Natasha drives up and takes them out. Natasha offers Clint his severed arm and points out a nearby building, and figures the secret to taking out Ultron is there.
In the past, Tony Stark uses the Mind Stone to create Ultron. Ultron tried to create peace by eliminating all life, and all he needed to succeed was an organic body. In the current universe, Ultron acquired Vision's body, merged his mind with it, and used the Mind Stone to lay waste to Earth. Ultron killed Iron Man and the others, while Black Widow and Hawkeye tried to stop Ultron from launching missiles with the nuclear codes. They failed, and could only watch from their Quinjet as the missiles hit the planet and wiped out all life.
Thanos arrives on Earth and Ultron easily kills him, and then takes Thanos' other five Stones. Ultron takes the Stones, merges them into his body, and sees everything. The AI creates its Sentry drones and travels to every planet in its universe, bringing about "peace" by wiping out all life in them.
On Xandar, Captain Marvel fights Ultron. However, the Stones are too powerful and Ultron kills the heroine and blows up the planet. When all life in the universe is destroyed, Ultron senses Watcher and realizes that there are universe beyond its own. Watcher temporarily blocks Ultron's senses, but Ultron vows to find the being and destroy it and all life in other universes. Meanwhile, Watcher vows that he will destroy Ultron and there is still one last hope for the universe.
In the present, Natasha and Clint enter the building containing the KGB archives and they start going through the boxes of paper. As they go through hundreds of boxes, an invisible Watcher with them sees a nearby one with a file for Arnim Zola, and wonders if he should intervene. Ultron nears, and Clint finds the file on Zola but dismisses it without reading it and dismisses their search as pointless.
Natasha tells Clint that they need an AI that can combat Ultron's code. She says that they'll find it, but it takes time, Clint wonders if there's anything left worth fighting for, but Natasha figures they can combat Ultron with an analog code. She finds the file and finds it, and it says that Zola is in an old HYDRA base in Siberia.
Ultron finds Watcher in his vantage point beyond the multiverse, blasts the being, and says that all of the universes with all of their chaos must be silenced. Watcher tells Ultron that it doesn't have to do it, and it says that it's its purpose as it flies as Watcher.
Natasha and Clint travel to the base in Siberia, go in, and Natasha tells her partner that before he died, Zola uploaded his brain to a series of data banks. The one she and Rogers found at Lehigh was destroyed, but HYDRA kept another data bank in Siberia to supervise the Russian Super Soldier program. Natasha brings Zola online, and Natasha tells it that they need its help. Clint tells the Ai that Hydra and SHIELD are dead, along with everyone else due to Ultron.
Zola figures they want it to dismantle Ultron's code from the inside, and Zola wonders why it should. Clint threatens to destroy the databank if Zola doesn't cooperate, and the AI gives in. They call Ultron at Avengers HQ and Clint downloads the AI into one of his arrows. They're going to upload Zola via a Sentry since Ultron is offworld, and they destroy the databank once Zola is clear of it.
The Sentries arrive and find the fire, and Clint shoots one Sentry with the download arrow. Natasha attacks the other Sentries, using Captain America's shield that she found in the archives. Clint shoot down Sentries, and Natasha pulls the first Sentry into the chamber and Clint seals the door behind her. Zola infiltrates the Sentry and takes it over as the other Sentries start to break through, and Natasha shoots the Sentry down so Zola can't use it to betray them.
Zola connects to the hive and unleashes a signal blast. The Sentries continue trying to break through, and Zola tells the heroes that the hive mind is out of range. The heroes climb up and the Sentries fly in and come after them. Clint fires a force field arrow, blocking their pursuit, but the Sentries manages to blast though it and hit Clint.
Natasha grabs Clint, while Zola fires at the Sentries shooting at them. Cliff tells Natasha that he doesn't want to fight any more because he's tired, and the Sentries break through the barrier. He lets go of Natasha's hand and falls backward, shooting an explosive arrow as he goes. Natasha climbs out with Zola and gets clear just in time. As she drops to her knees in grief, Zola tells her that they should keep moving since more Sentries are likely on their way , and figures that Ultron is in a different universe.
Watcher and Ultron fight, and Ultron knocks his opponent out of his vantage point and down to a nearby planet. When Watcher insists that he swore an oath to not intervene, Ultron insists that it will bring peace and Watcher lacks the will to stop it. The two fight, falling through the multiverse, and Ultron beats Watcher. Watcher manages to break free and flees thorough the multiverse, but Ultron figures that no one can stop it now.
Later, the dark Strange finds Watcher in his cell within his destroyed universe, and Watcher admits that he's out of options. Strange asks Watcher if he's ready to break his oath, and Watcher tells Strange that he needs his help.
