Not long after Sam gets shot in the left shoulder, he begins substantially using his left arm. After he gets knifed in the right shoulder/upper chest, he starts substantially using his right arm, with no sign of blood other than what's on the knife. Then he hangs from a helicopter with both hands for a long time, and he swims with both arms. None of that would be possible with those injuries.
