Each Jefybal Production film pays homage in one way or another to Willie Nelson. In Among the Willows, the Cronon boys are named "William" and "Nelson".

Jeffrey Smith, who played Everett Stolls, suffered a partially torn rotator cuff filming the scene where he tackles Wade Pierson (Spence) through a door.
The film is dedicated to Wanda Johnson who passed away in 2022. She played the schoolmarm in another Jefybal Production, Above Snakes.
