Watching "Gilligan's Island" reruns as a child always had this author wondering if "Gilligan" was the character's first name or last name. Gilligan, as played hilariously by Bob Denver, was the main character of the series, but also its buffoonish comic relief. He was most countered by his straight man, the Skipper (Alan Hale) or Professor Roy Hinckley (Russell Johnson), but he served as a foil for every character. Denver doesn't get enough credit for his pliability as a comic performer. Denver passed away in 2005 at the age of 70, best known for "Gilligan's Island" and for the 1959 sitcom "The Many Loves of Dobie Gillis." He was also a regular on the Sherwood Schwartz series "Dusty's Trail" as well as the 1968 series "The Good Guys."
On "Gilligan's Island," many fans wondered what Gilligan's full name was. It seems that, at the end of the day, he's like Cher or Fabian, sporting only one name.

Before Mr. Wolf and his crew got a taste of the good life, they gave the Grinch a run for his money by planning a holiday heist for the ages. Today’s The Bad Guys: A Very Bad Holiday trailer finds the gang rethinking their approach to spreading holiday cheer when events threaten the holy holiday. Not on the Bad Guys’ watch!
In this new adventure set before the events of the original film, there’s nothing the Bad Guys love more than Christmas morning because while everyone is home opening presents, it’s the perfect time to execute their city-wide holiday heist. But when Christmas is unexpectedly canceled, the Bad Guys must do the unthinkable: reignite the city’s holiday spirit by giving instead of taking.
Bret Haaland directs the holiday-themed prequel from a script by Aaron Blabey. The new animated adventure features an alternate voice cast, including Kari Wahlgren as DJ Trudy Tude,...

20th Century Fox's Studios' third "X-Men" film changed a lot due to the departure of director Bryan Singer, who was replaced by Brett Ratner (the franchise trading one accused sex offender for another).
Part of Singer's unrealized plans for this trilogy capper, ultimately subtitled "The Last Stand," was to introduce a famous comic character played by an A-List star. Screenwriter Dan Harris, who left the project to work on "Superman Returns" with Singer, revealed back in 2004:
"We were going to do 'X-Men 3' for a little while and our big secret or coup was -- and it's not going to happen so it's Ok -- we wanted to have a character that was Emma Frost, a famous 'X-Men' character. She's called the White Queen. We were going to ask Sigourney [Weaver] to be it. She was an empath in our version of the movie, which means she could control people's emotions.

There was once a time – many, many moons ago – when Keanu Reeves star, before reinventing what it even meant to be a streamlined, teeth-gritted action star.
Over the last three decades he’s found a way to be both soft and rough, cosmic and earthy. He has the spaced-out aura of The Dude until the very moment a switch flips in his head, and he goes into the I-must-break-you mode which has left piles of bad lads beaten in his wake. He is Ted; he is Neo. He is a doofus; he will kill you using a library book. And tying it all together is the sense that, underneath it all, he very earnestly believes in whatever his characters are doing. Keanu Reeves doesn’t do irony, but he does slowly dawning disbelief like nobody else. His superpower isn't dodging bullets – it's really meaning it. From his action classics, to...

Two veteran producers with ties to Fox are teaming up for a drama project at the broadcast network.
The Resident co-creator and executive producer Amy Holden Jones and Matt Nix (Burn Notice) — who just signed a broadcast direct deal with Fox — are behind Archie & Pete, a buddy-cop drama whose logline reads a bit like a gender-reversed Bones. The project comes from Fox Entertainment Studios and is being developed on a script-to-series model.
Archie & Pete follows an explosive, rule-breaking, fearless female detective with no filter who enlists the help of a polite and gentle brainiac who studies the biology of evil to solve cases for the Los Angeles Violent Crimes Unit. Jones is writing the script and will executive produce with Nix.
For Jones, the new project is in second position to The Resident, which is awaiting word on its future after wrapping its sixth season on Fox in January. Should...

In season one, Viscount Bridgerton was less hero than impediment. The eldest Bridgerton son, he assumed responsibility for the matches of his younger siblings Daphne and Colin, and spent the season throwing his weight around – sometimes literally in the case of the punch-up and dual with Daphne’s suitor Simon. Anthony attempted to control everybody else’s marriage responsibilities while refusing to face up to his own. His mistress Siena Rosso eventually made the decision for him, recognising that an opera singer with her past would never be found respectable enough to become a society Viscountess. Siena moved on, and urged Anthony to do the same.
In season two, Anthony’s search for a wife is centre-stage, making actor Jonathan the romantic lead. It’s not the first time the actor has told a love story in his established stage and screen career, which started in his childhood with the Royal Shakespeare Company,...

This past Monday night, February 7, 2022, after the Live eviction show that sent poor Mirai packing, another Hoh (Head Of Household) competition did take place. According to the folks over at Big Brother Network and the Live feeds, the comp required them to hold down a button while changing clothes. When it was all said and done, it was Miesha who walked away with the victory to claim her second Hoh win of this season. Yesterday, February 8, 2022, the nomination ceremony took place. The reigning Hoh, Miesha Tate had to put up another two people for eviction, and she nominated Carson and Cynthia. So, those two are now sitting on the chopping block.

Tonight, August 19, 2021, another Live eviction episode for Big Brother season 23 did indeed air, and another unlucky houseguest was sent packing and sent off to the jury house. We also saw a new Hoh (Head Of Household) get crowned. Tonight's Live eviction episode kicked off with footage of what happened at the Pov (Power Of Veto) ceremony when Kyland used his veto to save Claire and put up Britini in her place. Alyssa decided not to use her veto. Alyssa told the Diary Room aka the private cams, "I wouldn't use my veto on anyone other than Xavier because he's the only one that's not against me in this game." Claire told the private cams, "Kyland shouldn't have put me up on the block in the first place. So, I'm not going to thank him for taking me off the block."...

The first endurance Head of Household competition began during last Thursday’s live episode, with 11 houseguests holding on for dear life. Whoever lasted the longest in the “Whale of a Time” Hoh comp would earn the power to nominate two people for eviction. And, for the first time this season, everyone was eligible to be nominated (aside from still-safe Claire Rehfuss) because the team twist was over. So who ended up winning the fifth Head of Household comp of “BB23” and which two contestants did they put on the block?

Ralph Schuckett, a keyboard player best known as a member of Todd Rundgren’s Utopia as well as an in-demand session player and producer and, later, composer for “Pokemon” and other animation projects, died Sunday at 73.
No cause of death was immediately given, although he was known to have been ill. When a Utopia reunion tour was announced in early 2018, Schuckett was announced as part of the lineup and even met with other members for a publicity photo, but he was forced to withdraw shortly before rehearsals began.
Among his early studio credits prior to joining Utopia were Carole King’s first three albums, including the landmark “Tapestry.”
“Ralph Schuckett was a sweet guy, a great friend, and a very talented cat,” King said in a statement Wednesday morning. “That’s his sparkling piano on ‘Smackwater Jack.’ Rest In Peace and love.”

Donald Trump, more than a month since his last day in the White House, turned late night’s heads as New York prosecutors finally acquired the former president’s tax returns. Among the hosts poking fun at the long-awaited moment was Jimmy Kimmel.
“I wonder how many pages of the Cheesecake Factory menu he snuck in there,” the Jimmy Kimmel Live host quipped on Thursday.
During his opening monologue, Kimmel referred to an old New York Times report that shared that Trump “paid no taxes at all” for the years he filed his taxes because “he lost huge amounts of money” then. From Trump’s financial position to the 2020 election, Kimmel said there was a word to describe someone like Trump.

A “True Lies” series adaptation has scored a pilot order at CBS, Variety has learned.
Like the film of the same, an unfulfilled suburban housewife is shocked to discover that her bland and unremarkable computer consultant husband is a skilled international spy. She is propelled into a life of danger and adventure when she’s recruited to work alongside him to save the world as they try to revitalize their passionless marriage.
This is the second attempt to adapt “True Lies” into a series. Fox previously gave a series version of the project a put pilot commitment back in 2017. The “True Lies” film was released in 1994 and starred Arnold Schwarzenegger, Jamie Lee Curtis, Tom Arnold, Bill Paxton, Tia Carrere, Art Malik, Eliza Dushku, and Grant Heslov. It was a box office success, grossing over $378 million worldwide.

HBO is not moving forward with two Mike Judge comedies previously in the works, TheWrap has confirmed.
Both the adaptation of Marc-Uwe Kling’s novel “QualityLand” and the limited series “A5” were ordered back in 2019 but have been scrapped as Judge goes to work on a “Beavis and Butt-Head” revival at Comedy Central.
Set in the near future, “QualityLand” is described as “the story of humanity’s struggle against the tyranny of convenience. But it’s funny.” Judge was set to co-write the script with Josh Lieb, and the series was a co-production between HBO and Lionsgate.
“A5” was planned to center on a bioengineer who discovers the gene that makes a person an a–hole and attempts to discover if the condition can be cured.
Both series were picked up by the HBO as part of a two-year extension to Judge’s overall deal ahead of the final season of “Silicon Valley,...

A five-episode docuseries about the unprecedented relationship between author and journalist Jillian Lauren and the most prolific serial killer in American history, Sam Little, will bow on Starz this spring after a premiere at the SXSW Film Festival.
The story will detail Lauren’s race against time to identify Little’s victims. The series will be executive produced and directed by Oscar-nominated and Emmy-winning filmmaker Joe Berlinger with Po Kutchins serving as showrunner and executive producer.
Little recently died in prison. He is estimated to have killed at least 93 victims in his decades-long crime spree. The incidents only came to light after he was convicted of killing three Los Angeles women, and began to talk to investigators about his other crimes.

Exclusive: Watchmen actress Jolie Hoang-Rappaport is going back to school. She is the latest to join the roster of the Head of the Class reboot at HBO Max.
Created by Rich Eustis and Michael Elias, the original Head of the Class ran on ABC from 1986-91. It followed a group of gifted students at the fictional Millard Fillmore High School in Manhattan and their history teacher Charlie Moore, played by Howard Hesseman.
The reimagined series isn’t too far from the original but will modernize it and swaps gender of the teacher. It revolves around a group of overachieving high school students who meet their greatest challenge — teacher Alicia Adams, who wants them to focus less on grades and more on experiencing life. The news of Hoang-Rappaport’s casting comes after Deadline exclusively reported that One Day at a Time actor Isabella Gomez will be stepping into the role of Alicia Adams.

As of this writing, Cody Calafiore is still the odds-on favorite to win “Big Brother 22” and top the second full cast of All-Stars. Cody first played the game in season 16 and placed second as part of one of the strongest alliances in history. This time he once again played within a large alliance, but without Derrick Levasseur around to make all the decisions, Cody stepped up to the plate and did the work for himself.
