From the first episode I was hooked. This became my new guilty pleasure and it sometimes hurts waiting for the next episode every week. I have never read the books, and I don't want to start now in fear that I'll spoil it for myself. Here are some reasons why you should watch Pretty Little Liars.

Great Cast! - The casting was really done well. Although Spencer does look a bit older than the rest of the girls, it still is great. They all have great chemistry with each other on screen, it really makes it believable. I believe every single one of these girls its crazy, and I am like on the edge of my seat wondering who is "A".

Great Story! - At the end of each episode i get mad! Its like damn gotta wait another week for another one. Its so addicting. It really is, just watch it.

Secret Life is a mess, This is A lot BETTER!!! This should be on Mondays instead of Tuesdays!
  • Warning: Spoilers
The one sad truth is that you can't watch it again and get as much excited and "blown away" reactions as you did first time you saw it. Kinda ruins it when you know who "A" is, No point to watch it again, besides if you just wanna have a good time and nostalgia and watch it again! But it's a good show! Bring up memories! 🇺🇲
  • Pretty Little Liars is an interesting teen drama shown on ABC Family. The plot of the show involves a circle of four female friends who become engrossed in a missing persons case when the "queen bee" of their group, Allison, goes missing and the remaining friends find themselves being blackmailed by "A" who seems to know an awful lot of their secrets.

Unlike the other ABC Family teen dramas (i.e. - Secret Life of the American Teenager) I found that Pretty Little Liars has much better character development and the actors who portray them are all very believable and talented. Each character has their own interesting subplot which is what really drives the show. The initial idea of teenage girls being blackmailed definitely was not interesting to me but after the first episode I found myself hooked. I felt like I had to know what happened next to each character, even the ones that seem to have more minor roles.

This may not be a show that will win huge awards since it is definitely meant to appeal to a specific demographic, but it is refreshing to see a teen drama that is not completely based around sex and deals with other common issues too. This show is interesting enough that even if you are not a teenage girl it is still fun to watch and less feminine or religiously biased than other ABC Family series out there.
  • I used to watch this show, and for the first few seasons it held my interest. But come ON---I don't even care who "A" is anymore. Talk about milking a single plot! I finally stopped watching since the plot just kept getting more and more confusing and ridiculous, with references to characters and things that happened years ago suddenly coming back with no rhyme or reason, endless new bizarre and nonsensical twists and turns, and the always omni-present "A" who seems to know everyone's thoughts and actions while simultaneously thwarting attempts to uncover his/her identity. A decent show that the writers messed up in a big way! If you watch this show, you need a scorecard to keep track of the zillions of characters bouncing in and out at random.
  • Look a lot is improbable...and you need to suspend reality. This is just plain fun. Fun trying to figure all the bad guys are fun to watch the twists. It's pure escapism. The reviews saying it's bad acting is a crock. I can't believe how many times the actors need to cry each episode and it's never a dry cry. The acting is great and so is the writing, very clever. It's best binged...i would have been frustrated waiting each week.

When four girls who have recently grown apart after the event of their best friend's death find out that their deceased friend is still sending them texts, signed notably with the single-letter name of "A", they come together to try to stop her from following through with threats to spill their darkest secrets. Upon first thought you probably ask yourself how big these secrets could possibly be for four high school girls, but these girl's aren't just typical teenagers; their secrets run deeper than stealing a tube of lip gloss from the local drug store. Dating teachers and withholding knowledge of a father's affair, stealing sister's boyfriends, stealing sunglasses, and lesbian interests are only the beginning of the secrets that the mysterious texter can potentially spill. The biggest one involves setting a garage on fire, blinding one person and blackmailing another to make him take the wrap for it all.

Upon first meeting the girls, it is difficult to find anything to attract you to them and make you care. They come off as brats that you can't muster up any sympathy for. But as the first episode moved on, the character's evolved into deeper characters and show viewers that despite their unadvisable actions, they are actually just misunderstood and sometimes a little lost.

While they try to sort out their personal dilemmas, they also try to stop the threatening messages and figure out whether the texts are actually coming from their dead friend--or maybe just the friend they thought was dead--or if they are from someone with some other motive to wreak havoc on their lives. People with motives pop up around every corner and just when you think you've found the actual identity of "A", something happens to prove you wrong--you suspect someone different after every episode, which keeps you guessing.

Overall, the show turns into a promising guilty pleasure after only one or two episodes. It is definitely worth the time to watch.
  • Season One: 9/10

    Season Two: 8/10

Themes: Drama, High School, Romance, Mystery, Suspense, Missing Person, Lgbtq+, Lesbian, Crime Solving, Anonymous Bully, Teacher-Student Relationship & Blackmail.

Top five characters: 1) Spencer Hastings, 2) Caleb Rivers, 3) Hanna Marin, 4) Emily Fields and 5) Toby Cavanaugh.
  • Pretty Little Liars is one of those shows that is not fantastic but drags you in and won't let you go until you find out what's next. There is enough mystery in the identity of A to keep you watching for more clues.

It keeps you guessing. The show has a touch of Gossip Girl, with the mystery texts and the high class rich kids who can buy their way out of anything. It's got a lot of clichés and some bad drama but it's worth a shot.

It is definitely not the best show out there, but it has it's moments. If you are having some withdrawls from your favourite dramas this summer, this may just satisfy you until September.

    Warning: Spoilers
I watched this show a couple months before Season 4A came out . I knew from the first episode I was going to be hooked. It had so many twists and turns and you never knew what would happen. Charcthers you would never expect to be A and Uber A for example Mona Being A-, she did have enough ammunition against Alison but not against the other girls. And Spencer's twin who knew. Who knew spencer had a twin who would want to do this to them.

    I love this show!!!!
  • I started watching this last summer. I was bored and a friend recommended me this series. I'm not a big fan of scary drama, but I was addicted from episode one.

The characters are unbelievably interesting, and every little detail makes sense. It's the kind of show that keeps you wishing you had more and more episodes available to watch. It's really thought-provoking-- meaning, a lot of theories and ideas are going to start popping up in your head and you'll find yourself addicted to this show soon enough.

If you haven't watched it yet, do yourself a favor and do it. It's absolutely brilliant.

Each week people are drawn in with countless trailers for next weeks' episode, which promises mystery, drama, and most of all, answers to those burning questions you might have. But when the episode finally airs, none of those things occur. You find yourself sitting through an hour of mind numbingly bad acting, extremely illogical thinking, slow moving plots, and even more unanswered questions. I began watching this show because my fiancé enjoys it, so I figured I would give it a chance. But like all ABC Family shows, it lacks everything that makes a show good. None of the characters are likable, nor do they behave like a normal person would. The plot is so slow, I could probably skip 3 seasons and they still won't know who A is. If the books are to be followed, then Ali is still alive. My questions are: Why does she hate the liars so much? How is she everywhere, and how does she have everything already planned out? Why doesn't she just kill the liars? My major beef with this show is they are trying to drag it out and get as many viewers as possible. They're doing it in the wrong way though. A mystery show is supposed to give you clues, substantial ones. I don't mind that they ask questions, but they need to answer them as well. Also, the characters need to not be so stupid. I feel like I'm watching a B grade horror movie where they characters always do the opposite of what a normal human would do.
  • Just started this, almost done with season 1, I love it, it is fun to watch, I love the girl's outfits, who wears that to high school ? Everyone wore jeans in my high school, no fashion sense at all. Love the Teacher/Student relationship, it is taboo, but intriguing and very realistic! And the boys are so cute, Caleb is about the cutest thing I have seen , he is a great character. Cant wait for more.
  • Who's A? Could it be this person? No. It's actually this other person. Just kidding! It's another person! Could it be this other person you barely remember?

This is a fun watch. The main characters are all likable and get some great development over the course of the series. The series gets very formulaic and repetitive over time. By the end of season 6, where they finally revealed A, I did not care anymore. The seasons are long and there are some really fun twists and turns, but this could have benefitted from shorter seasons. The teacher-student relationship was extremely creepy and it was gross that they dragged it on for the entire series.
  • Warning: Spoilers
I don't know if these girls are supposed to be smart and mature but they're are the opposite. They always make the worst decisions and this is getting more ridiculous every minutes... I mean, are they 12 or something?

So there is an anonymous psycho who stalks them, blackmail them, threat them, breaks into their house, steals their stuff, even hurt them and they're all like "oh snap! who might it be? whatever, no biggie, I have more important things in my mind, like, dating my English teacher or kissing my sister's boyfriend, yeah sounds like a good idea to get rid of these rumors..."

I mean, HELLO?! They are the target of a sick psycho and they act like it's not a big deal? They just sigh at each new message as if it was just an annoying spam! How come they don't even try to, I don't know, get some help, find out who could reach them like that? I understand the whole "lie" thing but this is just getting ridiculous and one of them has been involved in a hit and run! You heard me, she woke up at the hospital but still, they won't talk to anyone 'bout that...

Oh and the teacher-student relation is just too creepy to watch, like, I understand that the girl is young and stupid but how about the teacher, is he 17 as well? Because he's the one that should put an end to this, and he doesn't? They just met one day ago and they're all "oh my god I can't live without you..."

Is that what television is teaching to teenage girls? "Just think about your boyfriend and dress pretty, there's nothing more important than that."

Anyway there's 5min of actual 'mystery' (yeah you know, the plot) per episode, the rest of the 40min is just boring cheesy romance and school stuff. Don't do this to yourself.

By the way, terrible job from the costume designers, aren't these girls supposed to be stylish and fashionable? They are all dressed like they have asked a blind friend to pick up their clothes for them with cheap tacky colors and waay too short skirts...

I am so done watching this crap. Oh and sorry for the fans (what is wrong with you people?)
  • So I decided to watch pretty little liars on Netflix I was hooked from the minute it started. Bit far fetched in places but was very entertaining to watch. In my opinion the last episode was done brilliant and the acting was good especially from girl who played Spencer's. Ignore some of the negative comments and watch it and decided for yourself well worth the watch

Pretty Little Liars is the best show, so addictive, I watched all 7 seasons within 3 weeks. I'm watching it over again because it was just so good!
  • I can't believe it took me this long to find PRETTY LITTLE LIARS. WOW. I can't stop watching it - this is an addictive show, no doubt.

I love the cast - each girl plays her character so very well. (HANNA IS MY FAVE) All are believable. And, geez the plot twists keep you on your toes, don't they???!!!! The boys are good, too...and the moms. A great deal of chemistry between the actors and actresses- which helps this series work at a very high level.

Lots of drama that you care about- lots of love, attraction, heartbreak, confusion, gossip, and a crime or two here and there!

Beginning of the 2nd Season and I just found out something I literally could NOT believe. (I won't tell you- you should go find out).

So glad I found this show- just finished watching BREAKING BAD..and, although I thoght that was a great show, too...it was so dark, ttis one is generally not "dark," but it does have some seriously heavy plot lines....it's no lightwsight, belive e.

So the actresses are good actresses and the characters are deeply developed but the show is pretty much a soap opera. The first episodes are the same as the next episode that will be premiered. Four teenage girls trying to find out who killed their best friend. The killer commonly stalkers them and sends them messages as 'A'.

The show is also completely unrealistic. These girls had been stalked for over a year before they even thought of informing anyone. They went on these searches that would put them in much danger and the parents did not suspect a thing. I know not all parents are completely involved in their children's lives, but 4 girls who are best friends? I don't think so.

Final verdict? You might as well watch it if there is nothing better to do.

Wish they stoped at like third or fourth season. I feel like they have been just wanted more money so they continued making more episodes without a good idea and then just ruined the story. Ok, maybe not ruined but it definitely became boring toward the end. I liked the cast.
  • borjance21 June 2018
This is so good. It is the perfect mix of a drama and mystery series. It hookes you at the beginning and it keeps going stronger and stronger! It is if not the best teenage drama ever! Great for all ages, no disturbing images (well no scary images)
  • If you asked me years ago when this show had 3-4 seasons I would definitely give it a ten but the storyline is just getting repetitive and you get a little bit bored and that's why I'm giving it a low 7.First four seasons and maybe fifth are from another planet, acting and plot were very well executed and acting was on point but after that story just gets more boring and boring. The ending is something not expected but I don't like it because after everything the girls gone through that ending was jus bizarre.Overall it's good series to watch and entertaining.
  • Warning: Spoilers
I absolutely loved this show when it first came out back in 2010. The show had a lot of potential to be a good suspenseful series. But now... Pretty Little Liars is a continuous and tedious routine. whose A? Is Allison Alive? Whose redcoat? and no questions are answered! they add in pointless characters and scenes, there are a lot of plot holes, and unexplained actions. The four girls spend most of the episodes analyzing every possible answers about Alison. As soon as they get one step closer, NO SURPRISE A shows up, screws things up, the girls are back at square one. The only thing we've learned in the 4 or 5 seasons there have been is that Alison is Alive and is hiding from A.... So Thanks to the writers at ABC Family for possibly making the slowest and most boring show in TV history.

I'm writing this review to warn people who may be interested in watching this show. DON'T. this isn't good television, there's only so much you can do with a series when it's ONLY objective is to find ONE person.

    Warning: Spoilers
Although too many people complained about the plot 'dragging' on the last seasons, I think everything clicked in a way that wouldn't be possible if the show was canceled on, let's say, the 5th season. And even though, I was a tiny little bit disappointed by the final A reveal (OK, that's partially my fault too - I had watched every theory alive 😂), I was 100% satisfied by the ending, concerning the couples etc.. So it's a 10/10 for me!
  • Addicting & Very Enticing! It's one of those shows that bring you in with the first couples of episodes. The characters are very interesting and the acting is pretty good. Lots of clichés & some annoying/bad drama, but a lot of suspense, character development & thrilling scenes & story/plot-lines. One of my most favourite attributes of the show are the corny, yet funny and outrageous one-liners that make me crack up so hard and become even more obsessed with the show.

The show is absolutely addicting from the get-go and only drops out a bit towards the middle of Season 2 but quickly picks up with a very surprising, yet entertaining season finale.

Some of the side/back stories are boring and uncalled for, but others are completely enticing and makes you crave for more Pretty Little Liars! The show keeps you guessing, answers the questions but with more questions. It's a never-ending Roller Coaster ride with some small misses and big hits.

I'll give this a 9 star, only because I've criticized it a bit. (Which Was Traumatic For Me.) But, 10 for my overall obsession with the show and the complete awesomeness the show itself leaks.

    Rosewood Will Never Leave You.
  • Warning: Spoilers
I actually continued watching out of boredom but after almost three seasons have given up!! Its the worse thing on TV and no its doesn't get better, season three I lost hope and it made me give up completely and i will not be watching anymore.

What freaks me out the most is the disgusting and disturbing relationship a 16year old school girls starts with a college Professor. I thought after season 2 this would end as it makes me physically sick! But no, after causing her parents to divorce the girl (Aria) is almost shacked up with the guy. What an example to young impressionable girls!

What a waste of time and energy a whole series built on LIE after Lie to all the families and boyfriends/girlfriends etc with the most ridiculous story ever written, the audience is treated like a bunch of fools and trust me you are if you continue to watch this bullsh!t.

Only gave it a three because the casting is good but these actors could do so much better in another show. This show deserves a minus 5.
