Considering the impact it has had on both its fan base and the world at large, Man of Steel undoubtedly stands as one of the greatest Superman films ever made. And thus, surpassing its success would undoubtedly be a challenging task. It’s remarkable to think how the movie has influenced other films that seemingly had no connection to it.
Man of Steel has reshaped the landscape of comic book films, introducing thought-provoking themes and emotional connections that were previously unexpected in the genre. Instead of merely serving as entertainment, it has become something far greater than just a typical superhero movie.

Last night, millions tuned into the 2024 Super Bowl. As has become a capitalist tradition, even people who aren't football fans watched the big game just to see all of the big new commercials, man of which feature some of the biggest stars in Hollywood. In addition to new trailers for upcoming blockbusters like "Deadpool and Wolverine" and "Twisters," there were also some hilarious commercials with Ben Affleck forming a hip-hop group with Matt Damon for Dunkin and Arnold Schwarzenegger reuniting with his "Twins" co-star Danny DeVito for State Farm insurance. But none of those ads were the most watched on YouTube during Super Bowl Sunday.
You might be asking yourself, if everyone is watching the Super Bowl, how do you determine the most watched commercial? Well, according to Variety, this is based on YouTube's own viewing stats that it measured worldwide on gameday, starting February 11 from 12:00am Et until...

You'd have to be the world's biggest grump to grouse over Billy Dee Williams returning to the role of Lando Calrissian for "Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker" 36 years after the character's last appearance in the series. First off, it's Billy Dee Williams. The man defined 1970s suave as Louis McKay opposite Diana Ross' Billie Holiday in "Lady Sings the Blues," and was denied a bevy of further star turns for infuriatingly obvious corporate/cultural reasons. Williams didn't disappear from the movies, but he should've been topping marquees for at least a couple of decades.

After a season that contained brief sparks of the magic that made the original "Frasier" so beloved, the Paramount+ revival series actually ended on a high note. The "Frasier" reboot season finale stacked up quite well against previous Christmas episodes, featuring a classic Frasier dinner party gone awry and some decently executed farce that recalled the original sitcom's inimitable mix of humor and heart.
But there's no doubt the best part of the finale was the return of Peri Gilpin. Across all 11 seasons of the original sitcom, the actor played Roz, Frasier's producer at Seattle radio station Kacl. The character became just as beloved as the rest of the supporting cast, which included David Hyde Pierce as Frasier's equally pompous brother Niles, John Mahoney as the brothers' father Martin, and Jane Leeves as housekeeper and Martin's carer, Daphne. But none of these other actors chose to return for the revival show,...

The night is always darkest before the dawn (or so they say), and just when it seemed like all hope was lost ... a hero made his dramatic, last-minute return. Okay, today's news isn't quite on the level of Christian Bale's Batman coming out of self-imposed retirement in "The Dark Knight Rises" or a bearded Cap stepping out of the shadows in "Avengers: Infinity War," but we'll take what we can at this point. Jon Stewart, everyone's favorite talk show host and political humorist, is making his grand -- and rather unexpected -- return to hosting duties on "The Daily Show" just in time for the upcoming American presidential election.
The news was announced by President/CEO of Showtime/MTV Entertainment Studios Chris McCarthy (via The Hollywood Reporter), though with a wrinkle. Rather than returning full-time, Stewart will merely host one episode a week on Mondays while the network cycles...

Kaitlin Olson of "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia" doesn't get enough credit for her comedic skills or her willingness to really give her all for a performance, whether that means injuring herself for one of the show's many ridiculous stunts or shoveling vast quantities of baked goods into her mouth. In one of the series' darker episodes, "The Gang Broke Dee," the gang berates Olson's character Dee for eating a cake that she found in the garbage after Charlie had thrown it out. She's also drinking hard liquor straight from the bottle and chain-smoking cigarettes, so she's given up on life in a way that she never had before, and Olson really sells it. There was probably water or soda in the whiskey bottle, but she had to actually house all of that cake, and apparently they did quite a few takes.

Okay, Larry David might actually be done this time. The comedian's long-running series "Curb Your Enthusiasm" has taken a few breaks since it first debuted an impressive 24 years ago, including a six-year hiatus between seasons 8 and 9. Every season of "Curb Your Enthusiasm" has felt like it could be the last for years, but the new trailer for the show's 12th season – which has been announced as its last — has a genuine sense of finality. As usual, though, the fictional Larry David seems poised to make a hilarious exit.
The new trailer doesn't give too much away about the plot of "Curb" season 12, but it's characteristically flippant about the show's ending. "Larry is back for one final act," the title cards read. "Don't be mad he's leaving, be mad he stayed so long." In keeping with tradition for the meta-comedy, a whole slew of guest stars seem to be ready to say goodbye,...

However, Iger said that it is currently in talks with Netflix over other titles.
“We’ve actually been licensing content to Netflix and are going to continue to. We’re actually in discussion with them now about some opportunities, but I wouldn’t expect that we will license our core brands to them. Those are obviously competitive advantages for us and differentiators. Disney, Pixar, Marvel, Star Wars for instance, they are all doing very, very well on our platform and I don’t see why just to basically chase bucks we should do that when they are really really important building blocks to the current and future of our streaming business,...

A huge streaming hit for Hulu last year, Dan Trachtenberg’s Emmy-nominated horror movie Prey is now available on 4K and Blu-ray, and this week 20th Century Home Entertainment has released a Deleted Scene that’s included in the physical release’s bonus features package.
The deleted scene is titled “Treetop Chase,” and indeed it spotlights an intense sequence wherein the Predator chases hero character Naru across the treetops. This sequence never made it into the movie, and all that exists is a rough pre-visualization of the concept.
Trachtenberg tells Polygon, “The pre-vis sequence… I was so stoked on. But I was worried about [the treetop chase] being too fancy for the movie. And we really had to nail the execution for it to not feel goofy when so much of the movie and its action is quite grounded. As excited as I was for that kind of physicality, of Naru and...

Just in time for Succession‘s end, let’s look at method acting. The Criterion Channel are highlighting the controversial practice in a 27-film series centered on Brando, Newman, Nicholson, and many other’s embodiment of “an intensely personal, internalized, and naturalistic approach to performance.” That series makes mention of Marilyn Monroe, who gets her own, 11-title highlight––the iconic commingling with deeper cuts.

Crime entertainment media, where many people appear motivated to commit the crime, is not new.
A successful movie franchise has existed since the early 1980s, speaking to the format's success.
However, this format can fall into the pattern of shallowness where the only exciting thing that happens is the crime and its resolution.
On City on Fire, the story follows an ensemble of characters who, on the surface, seem unrelated to each other, but upon further investigation, there seems to be a connection.
That connection comes in the form of a young lady, but no one can figure that out without knowing first about a crime committed against her.
On the 4th of July 2003, Samantha leaves her favorite band's venue and goes to meet someone in Central Park but never returns.
Later, she is found shot, lying on the cold hard ground with her blood draining from her body and seeping through the ground.

In what’s a shockingly early first look, Universal brought “Wicked: Part One” to CinemaCon audiences.
The rough and unfinished footage opened with a young green witch trying to master her magical training and being told by instructor Michelle Yeoh she needs to harness her emotions. The footage was mixed in with the filmmakers talking about how and why they made the movie. We get solid looks at all the major cast members, including plenty of interaction between Erivo and Grande as the former has a complicated reaction to a gesture of friendship. “Maybe, some of us are just different.” We get a bit of grand dancing, Emerald City production values (nine million real tulips planted) and flying monkey action scenes.
The final montage of fantastical (and source-faithful) images are, of course, set to the chorus of “Defying Gravity.”

On Saturday night, Cory Wharton participated in the Social Gloves 2 celebrity boxing event at Banc of California Stadium in Los Angeles.
Cory, a multi-time finalist on MTV’s The Challenge, battled fellow reality TV star Chase DeMoor from Too Hot to Handle in a five-round exhibition match.
There had been quite a buildup from the first announcement they’d fight up until they met in the ring, with several altercations during press events over the past few months.
That included this past week’s scuffle at a pre-fight press conference, with a few punches thrown between the reality TV stars as tempers flared a bit.
Saturday gave them a chance to settle things in the ring, although some fans, and possibly the competitors, may not have been fully satisfied with the outcome.

Things got chippy once again between The Challenge star Cory Wharton and his fight opponent Chase DeMoor, as the two reality TV stars appeared at an event to hype up their upcoming boxing match.
Cory, 31, was at a pre-fight press conference with his opponent on Thursday, and things reached a boiling point as the two opponents faced one another on stage to pose for pre-fight photos.
As Cory was jawing with his opponent in a face-off pose, the Too Hot to Handle star lightly grabbed one of Cory’s clenched fists, then pretended to pat him on the head. From there, Cory kept trash-talking, and Chase knocked Cory’s baseball cap off his head.
The Challenge star didn’t appreciate the move. In video footage that Chase shared to his official Instagram page,...

“Law & Order: Special Victims Unit” is losing a detective. Kelli Giddish, who portrays Amanda Rollins on the NBC drama, will depart during the upcoming 24th season. She will be in at least the premiere episode. Exact details regarding her exit were not provided by the network.
In a statement from Giddish provided by NBC, she wrote: “I wanted to address the chatter I’ve seen online and let everyone know that this will, indeed, be my last season on ‘Law & Order: Svu.’ Playing Rollins has been one of the greatest joys and privileges of my life. I’ve been so fortunate to be a part of the ‘Law & Order’ family for the last 12 years. There is simply no other character on TV like Rollins. She’s grown and changed, and I have as well. Halina Reijn's "Bodies Bodies Bodies" is a wonderful late summer surprise that boasts an awesome ensemble turning on one another trying to figure out who's leaving a trail of dead bodies in their wake. The Gen Z-infused whodunnit is a very funny encapsulation of a toxic friend group reaching their breaking point, but amid all of Peter Davidson's fragile masculinity and pretty much anything that comes courtesy of Rachel Sennott, Reijn knows when to take this cursed get-together to some dark places.
The foundation of "Bodies Bodies Bodies" is built upon the hyper paranoia of not being able to trust someone you know, let alone a room full of your supposed best friends. I imagine if I was trapped in a mansion way up in the mountains that has no power, no wi-fi, and the cars are all dead, I would be pretty frightened too. Production designer April Lasky...

Of the Devil sees actor Kelton Jones return to the directors’ chair five years after helming his disturbing first feature, Dry Blood. This time around he’s working from a script he wrote based on an idea by James Cullen Bressack.
The film opens in the basement of a nightclub. A group of devil worshippers slice open a young woman and remove something that looks like a shark’s tooth-shaped cocoon from her body. In the next scene, the item is hidden in the corner of a fence. A bright blue butterfly of the species “CGIus Obvious” flutters around it and a young boy named Alex (Lucas Sequeira; In the Death Room) is playing on the other side of the fence.

Clayton’s quest for love on The Bachelor blew up in his face in spectacular fashion last week — and now he has to do his best to put it back together again.
Monday’s penultimate episode picks up in the aftermath of his ugly breakup with Susie, with Clayton sitting in a church in Iceland (seeking forgiveness, perhaps?) and still reeling from what happened. “I need somebody to help me because I’m so broken,” he sobs to the camera. He confides in Jesse — but still says he was “blindsided” by what Susie said and insists she wanted him to fully explore his other relationships.

Exclusive: ITV has been tipped as the “natural home” for Neighbours by industry sources as Fremantle seeks a UK buyer for the 37-year-old soap, which could be facing the axe in six months’ time.
Several from within the UK distribution and production community alerted Deadline to the possibility of the nation’s second largest broadcaster being producer Fremantle’s best option when it commences talks with potential buyers over the coming weeks.
ViacomCBS-owned Channel 5, the Australian soap’s current co-commissioner, announced over the weekend that it will stop funding Neighbours shortly, pivoting focus towards original UK drama off the back of the success of the likes of the All Creature Great and Small reboot.
ITV’s general tone was raised by several as fitting nicely with Neighbours’ brand of relaxing teatime drama, and current ITV soaps Coronation Street and Emmerdale have been some of the network’s most successful shows for decades.
