So Bad It's Just Bad
Mega Piranha (2010)

BOMB (out of 4)

The Asylum are a company quickly gaining cult status thanks to countless bad movies that are often times released straight to DVD just in time to cash-in on a bigger movie hitting theaters. When THE DAY THE EARTH STOOD STILL was about to be released we got THE DAY THE EARTH STOPPED. With I AM LEGEND we got I AM OMEGA and we could give countless other examples. This time out we're ripping the remake of PIRANHA, which will soon be hitting theaters. Paul Logan plays a special forces guy who is sent to South America after an important American is killed. It seems like terrorists but a scientist (Tiffany) informs him that an experiment went horribly wrong and created giant piranhas who have the ability to kill with ease and they can even eat through the bottom of a boat. MEGA SHARK VS. GIANT OCTOPUS was a very, very bad movie but it contained enough badness to make it slightly entertaining in a very bad way but unfortunately this movie never reaches that level. When we talk about bad movies they're always going to appeal to someone while others hate it but I'm in the camp that really hated this one. The movie had me bored at the one-minute mark and nothing got any better. Characters do one stupid thing after another and there never seems to be any real reason why they do things. The film gets some Ed Wood moments including a chase sequence where the model and color of the car in the chase keeps changing from sequence to sequence. I'm not sure if this was done on purpose or not but it wasn't funny nor was it bad enough to make any sort of entertainment. What's even worse is all the really bad CGI and those stupid looking fish. The scenes of them attacking are very poorly done but what's even worse is that we really don't get much blood and guts. I'm sure horror fans going into a film like this wants violence but for the most part it's all quite tame and what blood we do get is also CGI and looks horrible. The performances are just as bad with Logan and Tiffany having no chemistry together and Greg Brady himself (Barry Williams) looking pretty bad in his role but at least he appears to be trying. I'm sure some bad movie lovers will see this thing as a awful but funny film. I wish you luck because to me it was pure torture sitting through and ranks as a horrible movie and nothing else.
