A family looks to prevent evil spirits from trapping their comatose child in a realm called The Further.
Director Trademark (James Wan): [puppet]: (At around 30 minutes) When Josh is in the classroom, on the chalkboard behind him, the name "James Wan" can be clearly seen, as well as a drawing of Billy, the puppet from Wan's Saw (2004), with the number "8" written under it.
Renai Lambert: Hey, sweetie. What are you doing up? Come here.
Dalton Lambert: I don't like my room.
Renai Lambert: No? That's okay. You know, you're still getting used to it. I can't sleep either.
(at around 27 mins) When Josh Lambert goes to the front door to investigate, he flips on the porch light, which blows immediately. Moments later, they show an exterior shot of the house with the porch light on and no explanation as to how it was replaced.
After the credits finish rolling, Philip Friedman as the Old Woman blows out his/her candle.
