It was back in June of last year that we learned HBO Max had pulled the plug on the Ridley Scott-produced sci-fi series “Raised by Wolves,” cancelling the show after just two seasons. The series was subsequently pulled from HBO Max entirely, with promised plans to license the series (and others) to third-party free ad-supported streaming television (Fast) channels.
Making good on that promise, Bloody Disgusting has learned that “Raised by Wolves” has now found a new home at The Roku Channel, alongside HBO Max’s “Westworld.”

Warner Bros Discovery has finally nailed down plans to go the Fast route. Last year — in between an intense bout of cancellations and titles being pulled from their streaming home on HBO Max — the company announced plans to explore a free ad-supported television option (Fast). During the company's third-quarter earnings call, Warner Bros. Discovery chief David Zaslav made a point of saying that there's "a huge amount of content that's not even on [HBO Max/Discovery+] that's sitting with us that hasn't been put to monetize in the marketplace." In the spirit of cashing in, a new plan has been enacted. Over the next few months, 14 Warner Bros. branded Fast channels will arrive on Roku and Tubi.

Luke Combs shows off his mature side in his new song “Tomorrow Me,” the superstar’s latest release from his third album Growin’ Up. The new project, which follows the “Better Together” singer’s 2019 album What You See Is What You Get, will be released June 24.
Adorned by mandolin and steel, the midtempo tune sets the scene with a telephone call from an ex asking to stop by. “I know what you want, I want it too/the problem is, what’s wrong with it’s the bigger issue,” Combs sings in a low register.

ABC is starting to whittle down its comedy projects.
The Disney-owned network is not moving forward with two high-profile comedy pilots – Lucy Liu’s workplace comedy, which was formerly known as Kids Matter Now, and Work Wife.
The workplace comedy, which has also had the title Bossy, starred Lucy Liu and came from Better with You creator Shana Goldberg-Meehan, CBS Television Studios and 20th Century Fox TV.
The multi-camera comedy was ordered to pilot in March 2020 but the Covid pandemic meant that it wasn’t able to shoot until much later down the line.
Written and executive produced by Goldberg-Meehan and directed by Christine Gernon (Speechless), the show centered on a diva boss with no patience for working parents who adopts a baby and has a change of heart, casting her mother-of-three assistant as an unlikely mentor and upending the office dynamics.
Former Angie Tribeca star Hayes MacArthur was set as a lead opposite Liu.

Not every pandemic-era awards show can reinvent the wheel, or try to, just for the sake of quarantine creativity points. And so “The Billboard Music Awards” occupied a unique space in the recent history of prime-time awards shows, by proceeding almost exactly as it probably would’ve if there had been a live audience in the Dolby Theatre. Apart from a few quick jokes or allusions to Covid-19 conditions, the only real sign that there was anything unusual about the 2020 BBMAs was the lack of any applause.
Well, except during Garth Brooks’ medley, which weirdly arrived with its own incongruous crowd roar, as the country superstar lifted his chin and pointed and played to the upper decks, as he always does, even getting the phantoms up there to sing along with “Friends in Low Places.” Had some of Brooks’ fan club snuck into the Dolby’s upper balcony just for his segment?...

How the 2021 Grammy Awards will proceed this coming January, in what looks likely to still be a season of at least social distancing, has been a source of considerable speculation. Adding to the mystery is the fact that the telecast will have a new executive producer, Ben Winston, who would have been looking to put a new stamp on the show anyway, even before Covid-19 ensured that every awards show over a period of a year or more would end up bearing its own stamp. Expectations have been lowered enough for how good any awards show can be during an audience-free pandemic that probably anything that rises above a basic bar count as a first-year win for Winston.
But what if it’s possible to pull off a Grammy telecast that not only doesn’t suck, but rises to a level where the lack of an in-house crowd not only isn’t a bust,...

A funny thing crossed my mind while watching the Academy of Country Music Awards on September 16: maybe social distancing isn’t all bad. Of course, I don’t mean that Covid-19 isn’t all bad. The disease is terrible, and I hope it’s soon cast into the fires of Mount Doom. But if and when we’re able to go back to safely gathering indoors with large crowds, I hope award shows don’t get rid of everything from this era, because some of their safety adaptations make for a pretty good show.

This year has been one long succession of bewildering events, so there was no way the 55th Academy of Country Music Awards weren’t going to feel oh-so-2020. The 55th Annual Academy of Country Music Awards will be presented on Wednesday, September 16, during a ceremony on CBS hosted by reigning Entertainer of the Year champ Keith Urban. These awards have been up in the air for a while now; originally planned for April 5 in Las Vegas, the telecast had to be delayed due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic. But the show must go on, even if a few months later than usual. So which singers are performing at the long-awaited event? Click above to see the complete list of artists, which we’ll be updating as they’re announced.
The awards will no longer be doled out in Vegas. Instead, the show will broadcast from three venues in Nashville, Tennessee: the Grand Ole Opry House, Ryman Auditorium, and the Bluebird Cafe. Among this year’s top nominees are Thomas Rhett, Old Dominion and Maren Morris with five bids apiece.

Maren Morris, Luke Combs, Miranda Lambert, Gabby Barrett and More Join Acm Awards Performance Lineup
The first major round of performers for the upcoming Academy of Country Music Awards telecast has been unveiled, and it includes a couple of the genre’s biggest 21st century stars — Miranda Lambert and Tim McGraw — as well as some of the biggest hitmakers of the moment, including Luke Combs, Maren Morris and Gabby Barrett.
Also announced as being on deck in this impressive first big rollout of talent for the Sept. 16 telecast are Kelsea Ballerini, Old Dominion, Jimmie Allen and the pairing of Thomas Rhett with Jon Pardi.

This comes after ABC revealed that the pilot was one of five that it intends to film from its current batch of pilot orders as soon as it is safe to do so. Last month, the network said it was picking up the cast options for these projects through to the end of September.

Some people might turn staying home into a time to take it easy, but for Jesse McCartney, it's time to put in work. The "Better With You" singer is creating at-home comedy skits with his fiancée Katie Peterson, filming music videos, and oh yeah, sneakily avoiding my questions about The Masked Singer.
Perhaps the most exciting of all of McCartney's projects (and there are many) is the new music he's releasing. He kicked things off with "Yours" back in April - a nostalgic look back at his defining eras over the past two decades - followed by "Friends," a different kind of love song.
"I feel like in pop you always hear about these romantic relationships, there's always love songs. I don't know, I kind of wanted to write a love song for my friends," McCartney told Popsugar. "I think for many people their friends are as close to them as their family.

Jamie Lynn Spears has recalled the biggest blessing of her life. As fans may recall, the star's firstborn daughter, Maddie, suffered a near-fatal Atv accident when she was 8 years old in 2017. Without revisiting every detail, Spears began to tear up as she remembered how her daughter was rescued from the water after the Atv reportedly flipped over into a pond. "The first responders took her from me. We thought she was gone. We thought we'd lost our daughter," she remembered in a new interview on Maria Menounos' Better Together podcast. "That moment I felt everything that you can feel, I think, as far as the worst. This is the worst—there's nothing worse than...

ABC has given out a pilot order for the multi-cam comedy “Kids Matter Now.”
Written and executive produced by Shana Goldberg-Meehan, the series follows a diva boss with no patience for working parents who adopts a baby and has a change of heart, casting her mother-of-three assistant as an unlikely mentor and upending the office dynamics.
Christine Gernon is attached to direct the pilot. CBS Television Studios and 20th Century Fox Television will produce.
Goldberg-Meehan previously created the NBC sitcom “Joey,” the Matt LeBlanc-led spinoff of “Friends.” Goldberg-Meehan also worked on “Friends” as a writer and eventually executive producer. ABC has handed a late pilot order to Kids Matter Now, a multi-camera comedy from Better with You creator Shana Goldberg-Meehan, CBS Television Studios and 20th Century Fox TV.
Written and executive produced by Goldberg-Meehan and to be directed by Christine Gernon (Speechless), Kids Matter Now centers on a diva boss with no patience for working parents who adopts a baby and has a change of heart, casting her mother-of-three assistant as an unlikely mentor and upending the office dynamics.
The pilot order for Kids Matter Now is for the regular pilot season despite coming after ABC recently gave a second-cycle pilot order to drama Triage.
ABC delayed pilot order confirmations for several comedies this season as it employed a different strategy. Four comedy scripts quietly received informal cast-contingent orders by the network early on. The other three — Home Economics, Untitled Emily Kapnek/Dean Holland (aka Wild Child) and Valley Trash...

Pop star and actor Jesse McCartney performs as four different characters – a stylish playboy, a tough-guy biker, a distinguished butler and a boozing older woman – in his soap opera parody video for “Wasted.”

As one of the fastest rising stars in Edm at the moment, it was really just a matter of time before we got a BBC Radio 1 Essential Mix from Mr. Oliver Heldens. Keeping in suit with his deep house/groovy style, the two hours of music delivers exactly what you’d expect.
From the producer’s own hits like “Gecko” and “Koala,” to some of the biggest songs of 2014 (“Light Years Away,” “A Sky Full Of Stars,” “Blame,” etc.) the mix is a pleasure to listen to from start to finish. In fact, it could very well make a case for Best Essential Mix of 2014, as it definitely rivals some of the more impressive ones that we’ve heard from BBC Radio 1 this year. If nothing else, though, it’s a great way for the young DJ to cap off his truly incredible breakout year.

He’s waltzed, tangoed and cha-cha-cha’ed for years, but Dancing With the Stars pro Derek Hough had to learn a whole new routine in order to make his Nashville debut (ABC, Wednesday 10/9c).
“This really isn’t dance-related,” Hough tells TVLine, noting that other roles he’s had — the comedy Better With You, the upcoming film Make Your Move — allowed him to fall back on decades of training in fancy footwork. “This is the first one where it’s straight acting.”
It’s ironic, then, that Hough plays a hotshot Hollywood stud who crosses paths with neophyte actress Juliette.

Tyrant Review
The problem with Tyrant, FX’s new drama about an Americanized doctor who is the son of a Middle Eastern dictator, is that the sum is far less than the seemingly random parts which never gel into an engaging version of what should be a great show.
Barry Al Fayeed (Adam Rayner) finally decides to return to the homeland he left when he was 16, because his nephew is getting married. It’s a life he hoped to cut all ties to, and we see why through flashbacks to some of his earliest days. His older brother Jamal (Ashraf Barhom) was clearly chosen to take over, and Barry was largely ignored. Such is the way of second sons. Jamal has grown into just the sort of psychopath every dictator hopes for, but he isn’t quite as bright as his younger brother.
Despite the atrocities his father visited upon him in his youth,...

Above is the trailer to Intramural, debuting at the Tribeca Film Festival later this month. The comedy teams people from all sorts of comedic backgrounds, including Saturday Night Live, Derrick Comedy and Upright Citizens Brigade. The end result is a comedy about a man who doesn't want to grow up, dedicated instead to reuniting his former intramural football team to settle old scores. Hilarity, some of the fourth-wall-breaking nature, ensues. You might recognize that lead actor, even if you can't exactly place him. Well do your research you lazy bum, that's Jake Lacy. Lacy mostly made his name on TV, popping up on The Office and the late Better With You, though he was unfortunately booted from the underrated, burnt-off-in-the-summer Goodwin Games. He recently graduated to love interest with the sweet upcoming comedy-drama Obvious Child, which A24 is releasing in the summer, a film that also features a who's who...
