I really do like this show. It certainly deserves more than a 6 point something rating. I could describe it using the words "fresh" and "original" but probably not "hilarious" or "best".

The characters have been growing on me and I like the way the 3 couple's responses are compared in similar situations at the start and end of each episode - it can be very funny, especially the older pair who's relationship is a little err, tried and tested?

The most similar sort of show I could compare it to would be Dharma and Greg, sort of, but I'm hard pressed to think of another show like it.

If I want light, refreshing entertainment, something easy to watch when I first plonk myself down on the lounge after a hard day's work, then "Better with You" is my choice. I don't need to think too much about it and it helps to put the stress of the day behind me and settle me in for a quiet, relaxing evening.
  • I gave this a 9 out of 10, which is really good considering Modern Family cant reach this rating. But the reason this is such an awesome show, is because every time I watch it, the actors can make me laugh out loud, no joke.

It has Excellent Writing, Excellent Acting, and damn good directing. I have absolutely no complains. The structure of the episodes are really good, they always start and finish with a smooth ice breaking joke that makes me laugh.

Excellent, it deserves more than 6,5.

Also, I have to give a shout to Jake Lacy, you're so convincing. Casey never stops amazing me with his both randomness and sometimes stupidity.

    9/10.
  • Kurt Fuller and Debra Jo Rupp played middle aged parents to Mia and Maddie in New York City. First, I would have changed the location somewhere else. New York City has been done to death. Anyway, the sitcom focuses on the elder couple and their two daughters. Maddie is a lawyer who lives with her male partner in a fabulous apartment in the city. Mia is her younger sister who finds love, happiness, and baby on the way with her boyfriend fiancé of seven weeks. Of course, there are moments where they show the differences between a new couple, the long-term couple, and the veteran couple whether in the taxi or in bed or on the couch. I love Debra Jo Rupp who can prove that she's just as good if not better than her previous sitcom fame as the loving seventies mom.
  • 'Better with You' is a very clever comedy with a unique format and incredibly imaginative story lines. Each episode contains fast paced scenes with jokes that feel fresh and original. Since the majority of story lines center completely on 6 well-developed characters (3 couples: one sister and her fiancé, another sister and her LONG-term boyfriend, and the sisters' parents), the show has become funnier and funnier with each episode. If you're new to this show, start from the beginning, and you will quickly fall in love with each character's personality, as well as each quirky storyline. One of the things I most look forward to during each episode are the quick opening and ending tags, which feature "parallels" between the three couples.. these scenes are especially well thought-out and hilariously executed!!
  • Mia (JoAnna Garcia) and Maddie (Jennifer Finnigan) are sisters. Joel (Kurt Fuller) and Vicky Putney (Debra Jo Rupp) are their loving parents. Mia is dating Casey (Jake Lacy) in a passionate relationship. Maddie is dating Ben (Josh Cooke) in a steady, slow-burning relationship.

The three relationships form different variations on the same theme. They all love each other. The relationships are the key to this show. It's a hit and miss show. Not all the situations in this sitcom is necessarily that funny. It does work enough for a full season but not good enough to renew.
  • I loved this show, it was a very interesting and new idea to the sitcom gender, i was so upset when i learned they canceled it, shame... i mean good actors, the set was very well thought and designed and the idea of the whole shoe was exciting, if this show had just one more season it could have been a serious contender to HIMYM! Maybe network and producers should give it a shot, i'm sure if they bring it back now, they won't be disappointed with the reviews, now house is gone, HIMYM is gone, scrubs are done, no real competition at all and it could start to grow on people, i loved this show, it was heartwarming and i could really feel connected with the youngest couple and also could use the advices from the elder one!

I first watched this because I was channel surfing and didn't recognize the name. Now I make time to watch this great show. It reminds me of 'the old sitcoms' that made me laugh so much. I don't need an intricate plot or running back story to be entertained by a sitcom, I just want the actors to be good and to have some great dialogue. Better with You delivers on these. The premise of viewing relationships from 3 different points of view is fantastically funny, particularly when you're watching the show with your partner and trying to decide which couple you are most like. The ladies definitely drive the comedy of the show, with the men being the foils. Josh Cooke is hilarious as the 'OMG she's dating a musician' boyfriend, and, of course, Debra Jo Rupp is brilliant as the Mom who always has the perfect one liner. I would definitely recommend this show.
  • This show should win some kind of award for making two beautiful women unwatchable. The show is so asinine that I don't believe the writers ever graduated from high school . Networks must purposely put shows on to lose money is the only excuse I can think of. Maybe you should have a show were the husband, boyfriend and the two parents come out of the closet. Maybe that would be a good excuse why these people who should not be together are on the same show. What a great job you have done to ruin that nights lineup. There is a good show on before and a good show after. But you have forced people to go channel surfing for thirty minutes while the beyond stupid show is on.

    You have tainted my TV

Why is this show still on?
  • Wow! What a fun show. I've been a fan of Jennifer Finnigan from her outstandingly entertaining work in a guest-starring role on Crossing Jordan and through her first sitcom. I'm pleasantly surprised to find that the entire cast is equally sharp in this new offering! About the rarest thing to find in a new sitcom is a freshness of approach and "Better With You" definitely has it. Oh, the scripts are not revolutionary -- after all, it is a sitcom about modern couples living in the city. But they are fresh, unpredictable, and absorbing. There is a sure hand on this very polished comedic work and it's great to see top-notch actors wring laugh after laugh out of truly engaging material. In all the best sitcoms, the comedy springs from character -- clearly everyone on either side of the camera knows this and knows how to deliver it.

    Shame
Poor old Shana Goldberg Meehan. After years of success on Friends she then created the flop spin off Joey and now has had to watch this show sink without a trace. It really is a shame because she's a talented writer and I enjoy her writing. I can only hope that she'll bounce back because her traditional style of writing is something that the comedy schedules are missing.

This sitcom had promise and a decent enough cast but much like Mr Sunshine (which was far better in my opinion) it didn't find an audience quick enough and now will never see the light of day again. Network bosses don't seem to give shows a chance these days and should really take some time off from wielding their axes and take a look at what people are actually enjoying.
  • This is a GREAT show!! It's silly, and funny, and heart-warming too. I love the chemistry of all the characters together, and in each couples-set. Great jokes, stories and chemistry! Keep this show going-- it makes for a Wednesday that I look forward too!!! I wasn't sure about this show when it first started, but it seemed to get better and better each week. I really do look forward to it coming on, on Wednesdays- it's become a part of my line-up!!! I hope this show continues, and is given every opportunity to be successful, it is a great show! :) This show is surprising, and different. I love how the show starts and ends with each couples versions of an incident or conversation. It's so funny to see how each set handles something. Everyone is very well cast and does a fantastic job. This show is awesome, I just don't know what else I could say-- but, WATCH IT! :)

first to fifth episode is funny.

Beautiful women, mediocre acting, still funny.

But when you don't give much room to grow around with, it gets old quick. The writers should know that guest star option is available, and Reba makes a decent appearance in the show, but other than that it is not looking good. Needs to spice things up quick. And I don't see much in common with the couples. No chemistry at all between the couples, though as a group there is some sparkle. But this is quite a development. I really want to see this one better than JOEY. We have been there anyway.
