We all know the type: misogynist douchebag guys decked out in Ed Hardy gear who party hard in packs, fist-bumping at the bar, and bump-grinding up against women as if they owned them -- all while feigning homoeroticism to their mates, and preening themselves in nightclub mirrors. Well, finally they have their own short film. Or short, more appropriately. For years Abe Forsythe has been one of the most interesting Aussie filmmakers. He made his debut feature Computer Boy and uploaded it online in 2000, where it gained a rather large cult following. He followed up with the best stoner movie about Ned Kelly (sorry Yahoo Serious). He's also made a stack of hugely popular short films and ads, including Shock, which won Sydney's Tropfest in 2010. Rather than take the predictable route into mainstream comedy, Abe has...

A short film inspired by controversial radio star Kyle Sandilands has won Tropfest. Moviemaker Abe Forsythe, who beat 15 other finalists to win the top prize at the world's largest short film festival in Sydney yesterday, said that the award that he received for Shock "means everything" to him. Sandilands was caught up in a scandal last year when he grilled a 14-year-old rape victim live on air about her sex life. He was later suspended from his breakfast show and axed from his judging role on Australian Idol. Forsythe told Aap: "Four words (more)...

In city venues and living rooms all around Australia, audiences watched on as Nsw filmmaker Abe Forsythe was awarded first prize at Movie Extra Tropfest 2010 last night for his short film, Shock. The film tells the story of a radio announcer who has an emotional breakdown on his way to work before sharing celebrity gossip and cracking crude jokes on air. Inspired by an incident last year on the Kyle and Jackie O radio show, Forsythe's film attempted to reveal the hidden side of celebrity. For Forsythe who has entered Tropfest numerous times and been a finalist on three occasions, including winning Best Comedy with Being Carl Williams last year, this win meant a lot.
