Despite making up 18% of the U.S., Hispanic actors are underrepresented on TV, according to a new analysis released by Samba TV.
The analysis, which is based on the top 25 highest-reaching direct-to-streaming and top 25 highest-reaching linear TV premiere episodes that were released between January 1 and May 1, found that 42% of top-billed actors were Hispanic, Black, Asian, or another ethnicity such as mixed, while 58% were white. At the show level, 48 out of the top 50 programs featured a white lead, over two-thirds included a Black lead, and 56% featured mixed leads. However, less than half included Hispanic or Asian leads.
Ethnic Diversity of Leads in Top 50 TV Shows vs U.S. Census (Samba TV)
Across both linear and streaming, only 10% of lead actors were Hispanic, despite the group comprising 18% of the U.S. according to most recent census data. None of the top 50 shows featured a majority Hispanic cast, compared to multiple shows featuring majority white,...

Netflix always seems to know when it has a potential hit. Although the action-comedy sequel “Murder Mystery 2,” starring Adam Sandler and Jennifer Aniston, was probably a no-brainer, the continuing success of the spy thriller series “The Night Agent” certainly must be a nice surprise. Read on for the Netflix Top 10 (Week of April 3) viewing chart analysis.
Last week, Season 1 of “The Night Agent” spent its third weekend as the #1 English language series on the streamer with 130.5 million global hours viewed, which was enough to put it into Netflix’s all-time most popular English shows in ninth place with 515.6 million total hours viewed worldwide. The show is in the top 10 in 92 countries, many of which it remains in the #1 spot. Wisely, Netflix has already greenlit a second season.

Netflix has released its Top 10 for the week of March 27, and it was little to no surprise that Adam Sandler and Jennifer Aniston‘s comedy sequel “Murder Mystery 2” entered the English language films chart in first place. After all, the original 2019 movie was such a huge hit for Netflix.
The action-comedy sequel entered the charts with 64.4 million hours viewed, the second-biggest launch for a comedy film with 42 million views, appearing in the Top 10 in 91 countries with it being the #1 movie in more than 60 of those countries.
Right behind it was the original “Murder Mystery” with 24.7 million hours viewed globally, and the previous #1 movie “Luther: The Fallen Sun” with 12.7 million viewing hours. The lack of strong family films in theaters allowed four animated films to get into the Top 10 with Netflix’s “The Magician’s Elephant” leading the pack with 6.3 million viewing hours.

“The Night Agent” might not be pulling “Wednesday” numbers, but the new thriller series had a very strong first week on Netflix.
The Shawn Ryan-created thriller topped Netflix’s Global Top 10 English TV series list in its first week of availability, with 168.71 million hours viewed. That’s the most for Week 1 of a new Netflix series, English-language or otherwise, since “Wednesday.” And we’re only counting four days of viewing, as “The Night Agent” debuted on a Thursday; Sunday night is Netflix’s weekly cutoff.
Beyond new debuts, “The Night Agent’s” start was the single best week for a show since Season 2 of “Ginny & Georgia” premiered to 180 hours viewed. Last week marked the third-biggest week for the debut of a Netflix show since the streamer started publicizing the Top 10 lists.
“Wednesday,” of course, still ranks at No. 1 in terms of new-series debuts, after it opened to a...

The cat and mouse chase drama is something that has been explored in the past, but most of them would revolve around a spy who is in the center stage and is followed by other intelligence agencies. That is usually the norm. Here the protagonists are a mother and daughter duo, and the fact that they are on the run constantly, keeping away from people, crowds, and strangers in the hope of staying aloof. The mother and her daughter Bambi stay in luxurious places, but they tend to isolate themselves from the usual crowd and refuse to socialize. Why? Is there a specific reason for that? That is what each episode of “Who Were We Running From?” explores.

For one to make sure their child does not become a victim of something that is not in their control, a parent always keeps a grasp on things to make sure that does not happen. That sounds wrong, but that comes across as something that is not uncommon. “Who Were We Running From?” is a tale of a parent who will willingly scale the mountains, cross the narrow sea, and take any bullet to keep her only daughter safe from the evils that would befall her. The question here is why the parent is doing that. Will the parent continue the cat-and-mouse game she started years ago?

Who Were We Running From? (Biz Kimden Kaçiyorduk Anne?) is a Turkish series directed by Umut Aral and Gökçen Usta Çaylar, starring Melisa Sözen. It is based on the novel by Perihan Magden.
A Turkish series that seems to want to set itself apart from the monotonous plot landscape carved out by the Turkish industry: this is an elegant thriller, it’s well produced and contains irony aplenty where the plot and the aesthetic are concerned.
As our friends at Decider say: is it worth giving it a chance? Yes, it certainly is.
Who Were We Running From? About the Series
A thriller that starts exceptionally well and that knows how to become the most Hollywood thriller in all its vital facets: and that without resorting to slyness, it has a plot that draws you in from the first minute and that does not let itself get bogged down on sentimental grounds.
