Aside from being the name of Totoy's son, the title of this film was derived from "Hoy! Gising" (lit. Hey! Wake up! In English), a defunct news and public affairs program hosted by Ted Failon.
When Rufo is complaining about the presence of Totoy and his kids, he was told to calm down and he is more handsome than Zoren Legazpi. The actor who played Rufo, Brando Legazpi is actually the brother of Zoren.
Babalu and Vandolph, who played the main characters in this movie, was also appearing at that time in the sitcom Home Along Da Riles. In the said sitcom Babalu plays Ritchie, Baldo's (Vandolph) uncle.
Don Pepot, who played the main antagonist in this film, became Babalu's replacement in the sitcom Oki Doki Doc after his untimely death.
One of the two 1995 movies in which Vandolph and Babalu appeared together. The other film was Father & Son (1995).
