The heroic story of a dictator who risked his life to ensure that democracy would never come to the country he so lovingly oppressed.
This movie shares several similarities to an unaired sitcom from 1988, including the title. According to lostmediawiki.com, CBS was to air a sitcom named The Dictator (1988) in March 1988, starring Christopher Lloyd as the dictator of a small Caribbean nation. Much like Baron Cohen's Aladeen, Lloyd's character ends up in New York City, where he opens a laundromat with his wife, children, and former General. Only two episodes were produced, and never aired because of the Writer's Guild's strike that year. Only a few promotional images are all that remains of the show.

At 09:40 (After leaving the nuclear research campsite), A Waving Spanish Flag can be found on the top of the palace instead of Wadiyan Flag.
