During the summer of 1979, a group of friends witness a train crash and investigate subsequent unexplained events in their small town.
The Super 8mm footage seen in the movie had to be shot in 16mm, in order to give the VFX team enough resolution to work with. It was then "degraded" to resemble Super 8mm.
I'm so worried for that boy.
Mr. Kaznyk: Joe's gonna be okay.
Mrs. Kaznyk: She was everything to him.
Mr. Kaznyk: Jack's gonna step up. He's a good man.
Mrs. Kaznyk: But he's never had to be a father before. I don't think he understands Joe.
When Joe picks up one of the cubes in a close-up (at around 8 mins), the cuff of his jacket conspicuously covers his hand up to the second joints of his fingers. When the scene cuts to a longer shot (at around 12 mins) the cuff is well back up his arm exposing his wrist.
There are no opening credits other than the title appearing on the screen.
In the original theatrical version some shot of Jen Kaznyk walk to Donny in the evacuation center are cut from the DVD version
