The art department budget for this film was $305,000 according to production designer Robert Gould.
When George meets Peppy for the first time he is surrounded by reporters and photographers. One reporter has the typical "PRESS" card stuck in his hat brim, but the typeface is Helvetica, not introduced until 1958.
The opening credits are styled after the style of opening used in the 1920s and 1930s, complete with technical credits shown the way they would have been then.
