Alejandro G. Iñárritu sees Hugh Glass as becoming "a man, a beast, a saint, a martyr, a spirit".
It's okay son... I know you want this to be over. I'm right here. I will be right here... But you don't give up. You hear me? As long as you can still grab a breath, you fight. You breathe... keep breathing.
Several times during the movie characters have the frizzen, which makes the spark in a flintlock, open. The gun will not fire in this condition. More importantly, this opens the pan which holds the priming powder. This means the priming powder can be easily dumped onto the ground, rendering the firearms useless.
At the end of the end credits: "The making and authorized distribution of this film supported over 15,000 jobs and involved hundreds of thousands of work hours."
