Tracey Ullman has been creating characters – and a string of successful shows, including Tracey Takes On… (HBO, 1996-99) and Tracey Ullman's State of the Union (Showtime, 2008-10) – for decades. But it was only recently that she's really embraced impersonating celebrities and politicians. For the second season of Tracey Ullman's Show, which originally aired on the BBC and is now available on HBO, she's back with her impressions of a rascally Dame Judi Dench (and her frenemy Dame Maggie Smith), a sexy singing Angela Merkel, and a version of Jerry Hall that will make you squirm.

Whether a result of suicide, drunken stupidity, or sheer dumb luck, train drivers the world over kill people. You’d like to believe it’s a rarity, but the truth is most likely the opposite. What then is life like for those who’ve chosen this profession? They’re constantly on alert, blaring their horns and hitting the brakes in the hopes they can stop in time. But even the best have blood on their hands. Even the most cautious must deal with the nightmares of accidents out of their control. The weight of this reality isn’t to be dismissed. And as Milos Radovic’s Train Driver’s Diary shows, it can drive people towards insanity. A sense of humor is therefore crucial. They could voluntarily become the next fatality without one.

Never mind the holidays; dealing with family can be stressful any time of year. Birthdays, anniversaries, weddings, or just a mandatory visit to a forgotten aunt you haven’t seen in 15 years can all hold their share of tension and misery. But at least be thankful you’re not part of the Merrye clan, the family at the center of Jack Hill’s Spider Baby (1967), a quirky yet clever examination of the prototypical horror tribe that influenced the likes of The Texas Chain Saw Massacre (1974) and The Hills Have Eyes (1977).

"No jokes." Last week was about the fifth time I've heard that there is a mandate at Warner Bros. regarding any of the DC superhero films in development, and it's very simple and direct and to the point. "No jokes." It would seem like a crazy rule to set for an entire series of films. How can you know what the tone is for every story you'll be telling in a series before you've even started telling it? The thing is, DC has taken a few stabs at establishing this larger universe on film, and they've gotten smacked down for everything that hasn't had Batman in it. "Man Of Steel" made money, and I'm certainly not the only person to like the film. I may be one of its more ardent defenders, but I'm not alone. I think you'd have a far harder time finding someone to defend "Green Lantern,...

On Saturday, Oct. 19, the 30-year-old country singer tweeted a cheeky picture of herself sitting atop a towing truck with the word's "Wrecker Service" plastered across the side. "Don't Open w/o A Sense Of Humor," she warned. "My dad has a towing service, family business. #havefunw/thecomments." LeAnn was still married to Dean Sheremet when she first met Eddie Cibrian in 2009 on the set of Northern Lights. Eddie was also married at the time to Brandi Glanville, the mother of his two children. LeAnn and Eddie infamously partook in an extramarital affair, leading both to divorce their original spouses...

What's the formula for a successful female superhero movie? Director Kimberly Peirce ("Boys Don't Cry," "Carrie") thinks the studios already have it figured out -- they're just a little gun shy.
While Hollywood has all but perfected the art of making huge hits starring muscled, brooding, smart-mouthed male superheroes (Iron Man, Superman, Batman, etc.), their female super-colleagues have hit a glass ceiling of sorts, resigned to co-starring roles in which they share the screen as fellow X-Men, a Fantastic, or the enemy-slash-love interest. While the trend may be frustrating to some filmmakers, it's not entirely for lack of trying.
Studios have struggled to execute a critically and commercially successful female superhero movie for years. Remember the less-than-stellar "Elektra," starring Jennifer Garner, back in 2005? And then there was Halle Berry's notorious 2004 box-office bomb "Catwoman." (Like Berry, we're trying to forget that one, too.) Both movies built on the existing mythology...

A sense of humor is said to be one of the most attractive qualities a person can have. That's why someone like Justin Timberlake makes the rest of us look like chumps. The dude is good-looking, charming, insanely talented and incredibly funny, all evidenced by this clip of Timberlake on the Jonathan Ross Show. The musician/actor/tequila enthusiast went on it to promote his latest album, but in the process he reminded us that British talk shows are way, way better than their American counterparts by taking five shots of tequila, playing a round of miniature golf onstage, and doing the worst Michael Caine impersonation you've ever heard. Speaking at the 40th Ubs Global Media and Communications Conference, Moonves jokingly referenced Jones, calling him "that kid on Two and a Half Men who makes $300,000 per episode to talk bad about me." Jones' comments once again...
