Patrika Darbo
‘The Bay’ Star Patrika Darbo’s Emmy Revoked Over Submission Error (Exclusive)
Patrika Darbo
The National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences (NATAS) has decided to revoke Patrika Darbo’s Daytime Emmy after an investigation revealed a submission error, Variety has learned exclusively. The Academy has decided not to award the statue to another performer.

Darbo earned a statue for her role as Mickey Walker on “The Bay” in the guest performer in a digital daytime drama series category at the 45th Annual Daytime Emmy Awards held in April. Producers of “The Bay” had submitted her in that category, but that submission contained two violations, according to NATAS. In addition to having previously appeared on the show, her reel contained material from more than one episode, and the rulebook specifically states it should only include a single show.

Darbo exclusively tells Variety she first learned about this revocation from “The Bay” executive producer Gregori Martin, who said the situation was being looked into, and then...

‘Besetment’ Review
Stars: Abby Wathen, Marlyn Mason, Michael Meyer, Max Gutfreund, Greg James, Hannah Barefoot, Lindsae Klein, Douglas Rowe, Sonya Davis | Written and Directed by Brad Douglas

Besetment stars Abby Wathen (The Bay) as Amanda Millard, a young woman who takes a hotel position in a small town where she ends up fighting for her life…. Struggling and desperate for a job, Amanda takes a position at a hotel in a small town in Oregon. It’s a creepy, back country kind of town but owners Mildred Colvin and her son Billy seem nice enough at first. It’s not long before Amanda discovers their real intentions, and her struggle to make a living becomes a nightmarish fight for her life.

The tone of Besetment is set straight away during the films opening credits: creepy imagery of blood running down shower drains, fluids being injected into… something/someone, and stitches being removed,...

Movie Review – The Dark Tapes (2017)
The Dark Tapes, 2017.

Directed by Vincent J. Gustini and Michael McQuown.

Starring Emilia Ares Zoryan, Danielle Baez, Katelyn Bailey, and David Banks.

Synopsis:

Science fiction and the supernatural interchange and interlock in a dark anthology of mystery, superstition, psychopaths, demons and horror.

I’ve probably said this before but I’m not a fan of the found footage horror sub-genre. Despite the occasional few good ones, such as Creep and The Bay (both of which I reviewed in my October Horror series last year) I find most of them to be incredibly dull and repetitive haunted house door slam fests.

However, the sub-genre that I do love in my horror films is when they go down the anthology route, allowing film-makers to tell a variety of different stories, perhaps using different styles and just generally allowing for a greater degree of creativity and variety.

My love of the format has...

When a rogue scientist discovers an immense egg in the dark recesses of a rainforest he thinks hes stumbled across his fame and fortune. Soon the beast is on the loose, hunting for its unborn child, rampaging through the country and destroying everything in its path in a mass of CGI-enhanced gory-glory.

A killer-creature B-movie from the Roger Corman staple, Piranhaconda is yet another made for Syfy TV movie suprisingly this one comes from director Jim Wynorski, who is well-known in the horror community for successfully mixing T&A and horror.

Teaser trailer for Jessica Cameron’s ‘Mania’ (Nsfw)
Scream Queen turned director Jessica Cameron has shared the first bit of footage from her sophomore directorial vehicle Mania, which tells the story of two lesbian lovers who flee their home and travel cross country after a brutal murder. The movie stars Ellie Church (Time to Kill, Headless) in the lead role of Mel, with Tristan Risk (American Mary) co-starring as her crazed lesbian lover.

Scheduled to start the festival circuit later this year, Mania was one of three features that were filmed simultaneously while traveling across the United States in an Rv.
