Actress Anita Kanwal, who is a part of the legal drama ‘Raisinghani vs Raisinghani’, shared fondness for the character Gayatri, highlighting intriguing parallels to an earlier role she portrayed as ‘Mrs. Seth’.
Anita plays the character of Gayatri Raisinghani, the mother of Rajdeep and Dev Raisinghani. She’s a sophisticated and assertive woman, who holds the family heritage in high regard.
Talking about the same, Anita said: “Gayatri Raisinghani exudes strength and a commanding presence, always in control and adept at keeping everyone on their toes. The actress was referring to her role of Mrs Seth, which she portrayed in the 1993 show ‘Banegi Apni Baat’. The show also starred late actor Irrfan Khan, and R Madhavan.
Anita went on to say, “While Gayatri lacks the negative shades of Mrs Seth,...

She says he never left. That snatches of him keep coming back, reminding her that those we love leave a part of them with us. But writer Sutapa Sikdar, wife of late actor Irrfan also says that these days when she takes two steps forward, something pushes her back. That life’s chronology seems to have altered, and time moves with an erratic rhythm.

London-based journalist Shrestha Trivedi writes about Irrfan Khan’s Masterclass with Asif Kapadia at the recent London Indian Film Festival

I t is a measure of how good an actor Irrfan Khan is when you start associating his “intense, brooding” onscreen persona with the man himself.
The actor was in London to participate in a masterclass conducted by the renowned director Asif Kapadia, of Senna fame, at the British Film Institute as part of the London Indian Film Festival. It was expected that the discourse would consist of his cinematic journey and the craft of acting – which of course he spoke about at length – what was unexpected, though, was the terrific sense of humour which laced his conversations, and how the entire auditorium was hanging onto his each and every word.
Enough has already been written about his “unconventional” looks and choices, so perhaps...

New Delhi, April 15: Television actor Varun Badola, who is known for his role of a mentally-challenged man in "Koshish Ek Aashaa", feels that the content of television shows has fallen victim to daily soaps.
"The art of serial-making suffered when television dramas became daily soaps. While shooting for four episodes a month, if the actor was not convinced about a scene he could ask the director for an explanation but now it can't be possible because there is no time," Varun told Ians.
The actor made his television debut with 1994 TV show "Banegi Apni Baat". He was later seen in "Koshish Ek Aashaa", "Des Mein Niklla.

It's only the story and the script that decides the fate of a movie at the ticket window, feels actor R. Madhavan, adding that the spate of small budget films that did well did so because of a good story line. 'I think it's just a coincidence that all the films that did well were small budget films. But no one is saying that all those films were also great stories or they were also great cinemas. If the big films had good stories, they would have worked as much as the small films have,' Madhavan told Ians in an interview. He feels some stories don't need big budget. ''Udaan' is meant only to be made at Rs.3 crore budget. You cannot make 'Udaan' for Rs.30 crore and expect to recover Rs.35 crore even if Shah Rukh Khan did it. It's meant, made, positioned correctly,...
