A simple tale told well. Jack kidnaps a victim and then allows the family a way to get their loved one back. Trade your life for the life of the one you love. How strong is your love? A taut, heart-wrenching short that never betrays it's micro-budget roots. The acting is excellent, especially Atha Dalton who impresses with her abilities. Cinema photography is very good and the pacing is quick without feeling rushed. I hope this is an intro to a potential feature. It has enough back story to add interest and life to the characters but not enough to drag it down with unnecessary elements that contribute nothing to the film. In other words, economically made, but not cheaply made. The director obviously knew what story he wanted to tell and he told it well.
