A different style of narration ( watched at PIFF 2012 )
This is a type of a movie which I really want to see again and again. Because visually you can see a very simple plot or a theme developed in to a beautiful screenplay. At the same time the thoughts implemented in its inner structure will definitely disturb you. A very innocent village shepherd Jacinto travels to USA after seeing a very strange dream, in which he gets a treasure. The main story is his experiences throughout the journey. From the treatment and narration of this movie I remembered Yilmaz Guney, the popular Turkish director and his movie "Umut" . Sebastin Hiriart who is the Script writer and the director of this Mexican film shares his thoughts in a similar way. You can feel the warmth of realism throughout the movie. Cinematography is excellent. One more point which we would never miss to notice is the stunning performance of Gabino Rodriguez as a naive villager. What I found most unique is the Director,s approach towards the theme and the way of narration. Through a very simple story telling method, he is portraying a human being's different emotions. Innocence, Hope, Lust, Greed, disappointment and so many other emotions- which are difficult to express in words- you can see in 97 minutes.
