Michael Gough and Anneke Wills met for the first time while making this film, and while she was still involved with Anthony Newley. In 1965, Gough and Wills would marry, despite a 25-year age difference. They had one son, Jasper, and then divorced in 1979.

One of a series of second feature films based on Edgar Wallace novels, released between 1960 and 1965 in British cinemas. The films were later sold to American TV and screened there as The Edgar Wallace Mystery Theatre (1959).
