When a body is found on the bridge between Denmark and Sweden, right on the border, Danish inspector Martin Rohde and Swedish Saga Norén have to share jurisdiction and work together to find the killer.
Sveriges Television reported that up to November 2013, the first series had been purchased for broadcasting in 134 countries worldwide and the Daily Telegraph reported in February 2014 that The Bridge was on screen in 174 countries.
In the opening credits some of the traffic footage is mirrored causing the traffic to be driving on the left instead of the right side of the road and taking the roundabout in a clockwise fashion instead of counter-clockwise.
The opening and closing credits appear in both Swedish and Danish, including the series title and descriptive character names.
