    MANIPEDE! is literally a filmed play from an amateur dramatic group based in Burbank, California. As such it has non-existent production values and a very amateurish, non-professional feeling; instead of hearing dialogue sounding natural, it's all about line readings and over-emphasis. The director seems to be going for a celebratory vibe similar to Joe Dante's Matinée, but the end result is tedious in the extreme, the comedy is unfunny, and that rubber head costume is just rubbish.
  • A troupe of actors must come up with a plan to save their community theater, before their landlord replaces it with a new mega-mall. Alas, they must come up with $750k or the theater is doomed.

    But wait!

    If they could just come up with a lucrative plan of their own. Hmmmm...

    Eureka! They'll make a movie! Thus, MANIPEDE is born. Can a movie be made for no money, in less than 30 days? In spite of there being no technical knowhow or filmmaking skills?

    Is MANIPEDE a cinematic masterwork? Well, no. It's silly and intentionally ridiculous. It's also a lot of fun to watch...
