- [first lines]
- T. Graham: Now listen, you two. I've planned this very carefully. I want no slip-ups. Tomorrow, I'm going to kill my wife.
- Grace O'Conner: [narrating] Here comes a girl in love with a city. Oh - that's me, Grace O'Conner, on my way to a day's work... or maybe a day's adventure. You're never quite sure what it's going to be. You walk down the Paseo de la Reforma in the most exciting city in the world - Mexico.
- Grace O'Conner: Hello, Juan? Grace... Isn't a little early in the morning?
- Juan Diez: I wish this were a social call, but it isn't. Frankly, Grace, I need your help. Could you meet me in Chapultepec Park by the lake?
- Grace O'Conner: Top secret stuff again? I'll bring the cloak if you bring the dagger.
- Grace O'Conner: [narrating] I had a two-fold relationship with the good-looking Mexican I was about to meet. The first was a romantic one with a man named Juan Diez who very much wanted to be my husband. The other - a simple working arrangement with Commissioner Diez in which I was occasionally helpful as agent-without-portfolio - translation: undercover.
- [discussing Mrs. Graham's description of her estranged gangster husband]
- Grace O'Conner: What's he like?
- Juan Diez: Oh, it sounds weird. He lives on nuts and raisins and vegetables. She says he suffers from asthma.
- Grace O'Conner: What does this villainous vegetarian look like?
- Thorwald: How about a drink between friends?
- Grace O'Conner: That's a nice custom between friends, however, I'd prefer to think of you as a stranger.
- Donovan: About that guide...
- Grace O'Conner: I'll have one for you in an hour.
- Jane: Grace, it's for you.
- Donovan: Now if we were back in the States, I'd be happy to be your guide... but, perhaps I'm being too subtle.
- Grace O'Conner: I get your message, but it's not included in the service.
- Grace O'Conner: [narrating] At each place I tried to point out the special sights to Donovan, but he was interested only in the special sights of me.
- Grace O'Conner: [narrating] I think the sweetest dound I ever heard was the sound of Juan's fist meeting Graham's jaw.
- [last lines]
- Juan Diez: You were wonderful, but why didn't you call me rather than meeting Mrs. Graham on your own?
- Grace O'Conner: How did you know where I was?
- Juan Diez: How did you ever think Mrs. Graham could escape the federal police?
- Grace O'Conner: I don't mind you using her, but did you have to use me, too?
- Juan Diez: Nothing attracts bees like honey and speaking of honey, can we now have dinner? I found a nice new little place... What's the matter?
- Grace O'Conner: You remember me telling you I might run into complications?
- Juan Diez: Yes, but...
- Grace O'Conner: And you remember telling me that you would take care of anything that happened? Well, you would you mind getting a table for three?
- [Grace smiles at Donovan who is waiting patiently across the room]
- Juan Diez: For three?
