Jake comes upon a man in the industrial building, who is heating transdermal patches of fentanyl to extract the drug. He's wearing a surgical mask and a face shield. That might protect him from a drop of the drug getting on his face, but if there were fumes from the process, a surgical mask would be no protection at all.
In the film, there is shown several uniform LAPD officers that have beards. LA PD does not allow facial hair on their uniform officers.
In the initial pursuit, Jake orders ace to 'sutch'. that is an almost unintelligible mispronunciation of the proper command in German 'such' where the 'ch' is like a hard 'h' as in 'hue' .
After his post incident 'interview', Jake says he want to see ace' autopsy. an experienced and involved dog handler. regardless of any anthropomorphization, would know that the post-mortem on his dog, or any animal, would be called a necropsy.
