Earlier this month, HGTV star Hilary Farr revealed she will be leaving her long-running home design show Love It or List It after 19 seasons, where she co-hosted with real estate agent David Visentin. “Love It or List It has had such a true impact on so many lives, including mine,” Farr said in a statement at the time. “But now it’s time for me to embrace new challenges that have come my way. If this is my legacy, it’s a great one.” In a new interview with Vulture, Farr opened up about her decision to leave the hit show, explaining, “It was becoming boring… and I don’t want to be bored.” “You know that saying, “If not now, when?” That’s truly it,” the British-Canadian businesswoman continued. “I’ve been doing the show for years, and I have loved doing it. In the brief history of the streaming wars, the year 2020 has already borne witness to the sharp rise and fall of various direct-to-consumer entertainment services. Disney Plus flourished beyond anyone’s wildest expectations. Quibi faltered and faded in less than a, well, you know.
As the streaming market continues to saturate, the new year finds TV viewers in much the same pandemic predicament as the previous one — encouraged to stay at home, fatigued from staying at home, and yearning for distraction. Which makes the global launch of Discovery Plus on Jan. 4 a potentially serendipitous salve, offering the ultimate in comfort viewing: a streaming service filled to the brim with home improvement fare, cooking shows and at least three “90 Day Fiance” spinoffs.

North Carolina officials have approved a quintet of film and television projects to being filmed in the state as a part of its 25% rebate on production expenses, with shooting starting by the end of October.
The news was announced Tuesday, six months after almost the entire entertainment industry halted production due to the Covid-19 pandemic. State officials said the new projects will generate a direct in-state spend of more than $107 million while creating 8,671 job opportunities, including 650 crew positions for the state’s film professionals.
“Our state’s film industry continues to welcome new projects from prominent production companies,” said Gov. Roy Cooper. “The industry provides good jobs and opportunities for local businesses while showcasing on a big stage what North Carolina has to offer.”
The five projects approved for the North Carolina Film and Entertainment Grant include the following:
— “USS Christmas,” a made-for-television movie about a newspaper reporter who finds love on an aircraft carrier.

Sam Mendes’ Theatre Arts Fund has raised £1.6 million ($2 million) to support out-of-work theater professionals across the U.K. by offering quick and easy access to a £1000 grant. Although the fund has supported 1,600 freelancers so far, it’s a far cry from the nearly 4,000 applications it received in just one week.
Launched July 6, the fund was established with a £500,000 donation from Netflix, and has since received another £85,000 in donations from public and industry donors via the online donation platform Enthuse. Love It or List It’s Hilary Farr and David Visentin agree to disagree on most things, but they’re undeniably on the same page when it comes to closets.
The Hgtv stars sound off on their design stances during a game of Interior Design: Would You Rather, and when challenged with the choice of having a spacious master bathroom or master closet, both agreed the latter is a necessity.
“Have to go with a closet,” Farr, 64, the interior design half of the TV duo, tells People. Visentin, 51, the show’s real estate pro, echoing her decision.

Love It or List It’s Hilary Farr and David Visentin aren’t married, but they still make for a pretty cute couple.
“It’s good. Even when he’s a pain, he’s more laid-back than I am,” says Farr, 64, the hit Hgtv series’ interior designer.
“That’s an understatement,” real estate agent Visentin, 51, adds.
Though they’ve played a vital role in each other’s lives since the show began in 2008, when they first crossed paths, Visentin didn’t exactly leave a memorable impression.
“She actually says she doesn’t even remember me from the audition,” Visentin recalls.
