If you have seen the TV series Fafner then you will know what is going on here. If, like me, you thought this was a stand alone movie you will likely be confused and disappointed. Apparently this takes place after the TV series ended, and if you didn't see the series you won't understand what is happening, I sure didn't. There were some interesting things happening, but they were never explained, or really explored. There were some things that needed aback story which they never got, I guess because it was assumed you saw the TV series. The editing is bad, the characters would be talking in one scene and then suddenly without warning or explanation there would be a battle, huh? The only thing good about this movie is that some of the scenery was done well. I repeat if you haven't seen the TV series you probably won't like this movie.

Kazuki shot the Mir in First Operation Azure in the Arctic 2 years ago. Since then, broken Mirs have been acting in each their own way. Although Kazuki quitted a Fafner pilot due to low vision, he still believes that vanished Soshi will get back home. On the day of Bon Festival, Michio and Yumiko's daughter Miwa predicts that a naval vessel drifts ashore in Tatsumiya Island. The prophecy comes true, a boy Misao is in the vessel. He knows about vanished Soshi because he is a Festum.
Even though I really enjoyed the anime I didn't really think this movie was very good at all. In story wise and honestly it doesn't really answer many questions.
As for the dub cast I am sorry but what were they think outside of one actress who originally voiced Maya in the actual anime they went up and recasted everyone. Expect for one character nobody sounded like themselves it was like as if leaving main characters love interest they change all the main characters from the stories. Seriously Funimation what were you thinking. No wonder why we haven't had anymore of the series passed this movie dubbed yet.
Though Kazuki's voice did sound similar to Bosch.
I have said it before and I will say it again Discork Media, Netflix, Viz heck even aniplex of USA at this point. Please revoke the rights to this anime from Funimation and continue dubbing the rest of the series with the old cast. Funimation don't seem to care at all about the series or the original cast enough is enough and it's time for a change it's been 5 years since season 2 came out. It needs a dub like asap.
