There’s 104 more days of summer vacation on the docket, as the long-awaited return of “Phineas and Ferb” gets closer to reality. Co-creators and exec producers Dan Povenmire and Jeff “Swampy” Marsh were set to share more information about the upcoming revival during a Thursday panel at New York Comic-Con — including a reveal of who else is returning from the original animated series cast.

Scheduled to join Povenmire and Marsh on the Comic-Con stage were Vincent Martella (who plays Phineas Flynn) and David Errigo Jr. (who took over as Ferb Fletcher in 2020 from original star Thomas Brodie-Sangster), the two namesakes of the series. Also back are Ashley Tisdale as Candace Flynn, Caroline Rhea as Linda Flynn-Fletcher, Dee Bradley Baker as Perry the Platypus and Alyson Stoner as Isabella Garcia-Shapiro. Povenmire, of course, voices Dr.

“Phineas and Ferb” co-creator Dan Povenmire was absent-mindedly doodling on a scrap of paper during a meeting when he realized he had sketched his way into his next TV show: It was a hamster, in a superhero outfit.
“It just came from my subconscious somewhere,” he told Variety. “I liked it and I set it aside and took a picture of it. I brought it home, and then I pitched a bunch of ideas for a show for it to my daughter when I was tucking her in one night. I was able to come up with a whole bunch of ideas for it right away.”
Povenmire had just wrapped Disney+’s “Phineas and Ferb the Movie: Candace Against the Universe,” and was ready to pitch something new. So while on vacation, he created the pilot that would become his latest series, “Hamster and Gretel,” which premieres Friday on Disney Channel (9:35 p.

In 1969, when “Sesame Street” premiered, it invented a thing called children’s “educational” television, and few would deny that it fulfilled that mission — to teach kids and delight them at the same moment. The legacy of “Sesame Street” is vast, to the point that dozens of children’s shows that don’t call themselves educational, or even think of themselves that way, now subscribe to the same mission. In our era, some of the best kids’ TV has been fast and furious, diabolically witty and smart — the educational equivalent of a roller-coaster ride. I’m thinking of shows like “Team Umizoomi,” “The Loud House,” “Apple & Onion,” and “Phineas and Ferb,” which ended its four-season run on the Disney Channel in 2015. So it’s no surprise that “Phineas and Ferb The Movie: Candace Against the Universe” is one of the sharpest kids’ movies in a while.

It’s the weekend, and as usual, the various streaming sites have got you covered with a load of new content going up across all the five major subscription services – Netflix, Disney Plus, Hulu, HBO Max and Prime. There’s maybe not any massively unmissable titles due over the next few days, but there is lots of stuff that’s well worth checking out, from original TV shows and films to a couple of movies you’ve probably already seen but could always stick on again.
First of all, Netflix has 6 movies and shows going up on Friday the 28th. These include follow-up real crime series I Am A Killer: Released, homeless teen drama All Together Now and a couple of foreign films – Spanish-Argentinian thriller Unknown Origins and South African actioner Santana. The first two seasons of Karate Kid spinoff Cobra Kai also become available from today, originally streamed on YouTube Red,...

It’s Friday, and that means Disney Plus has dropped its weekly haul of new content to tide subscribers over through the weekend. As usual, there’s something for everyone here, with the batch of titles including a Marvel movie, a Disney animated flick, a live-action fantasy film and a bunch of new episodes of the site’s ongoing TV series.
There’s one Disney Plus exclusive in the batch, too, and that’s Phineas and Ferb The Movie: Candace Against the Universe, which is only the second feature-length spinoff of the long-running animated show. This time, the brothers have to travel across the galaxy to rescue their sister when she’s abducted by aliens.
Here are all eight titles going up on Disney Plus today, some globally while others are exclusive to the US and Canada at this time:

Movie theaters are reopening en masse this weekend, with The New Mutants paving the way as the first blockbuster wide release in months. But that doesn't mean everyone is comfortable heading to a theater just yet. Luckily, some big movies are coming to streaming this week as well, offering plenty of options.
This week sees perhaps the biggest release of the summer in the form of a long-awaited sequel, as well as a new action flick from Bruce Willis. We also have a documentary on an insane theme park, a couple of new horror flicks, Megan Fox duking it out with lions and the return of Phineas and Ferb. Here are this week's streaming selections.

Movies have been around since the late 19th century, but only now — after more than 100 years of failure — has someone finally made one that hinges on the invention of a ray gun that replaces anyone it shoots with the nearest available chicken. The device is called “The Chicken Replace-inator,” and it’s the latest weapon created by the mad scientist Dr. Doofenshmirtz (of Doofenshmirtz Evil Incorporated fame) in his never-ending quest to kill the fedora-wearing secret agent who always foils his plans and also happens to be a platypus — Perry the platypus.
The cackling lovechild of Abe Vigoda and the Wicked Witch of the West, Doofenshmirtz has come up with all sorts of cockamamie schemes to destroy Perry over the years — one for each of the 222 episodes of “Phineas and Ferb” that aired on the Disney Channel between 2007 and 2015 — but the Chicken Replace-inator has to be among the dumbest and most inspired.

To celebrate the release of Phineas and Ferb The Movie: Candace Against the Universe, which debuts on Disney+ this week, we sat down with the show’s co-creators to chat about the hilarious new adventure.
The show has been wildly successful since its inception back in 2007 with over 222 episodes made so far, so it was inevitable a film version would come to light sooner or later. Povenmire and Marsh – both wonderfully warm and funny gentlemen – tell us about the challenges of making a feature-length version of the show and keeping up with audience expectations.
They also tell us how, through all the influences on the show, it was BBC’s Blackadder – created by Rowan Atkinson and Richard Curtis – that was instrumental in making it all come together: “We watched the whole series and then put it straight back on from the beginning again!”

Over the past few months, Disney Plus has cemented itself within the streaming world as a force to be reckoned with. With Marvel movies, The Mandalorian and now a unique recording of the acclaimed Broadway musical Hamilton inside its library, among many other things, the service is here to stay – much to the chagrin of Netflix.
Although Disney Plus adds a smaller amount of content to its collection than most of its competitors, the company certainly packs a punch. For proof of that, look no further than August, in which Disney’s popular service is set to upload a handful of interesting new shows and films.
To begin with, we’ve got Muppets Now. The very first original, unscripted series to be produced by The Muppets Studio, it’ll center around Scooter as he tries to ensure that new episodes of Muppets Now get to streaming on time. The format...

Disney brought Phineas and Ferb to this year's Comic-Con@Home festivities. The usual, annual gathering for all things pop culture, San Diego Comic-Con, could not proceed as planned this year. Like many other major events, it simply wasn't feasible, given the current situation. But fear not, as a digital version of Sdcc filled with panels is happening for all to enjoy. In this case, the cast and creators behind Phineas and Ferb the Movie: Candace Against the Universe have united to reveal the upcoming feature, which will be debuting on Disney+ next month.
During the panel, a clip of the opening of the movie was revealed. It sees Candace riding her bike down the street while singing a song. It evolves into a full-blown musical number that sees Candance embracing the ways of optimism. There is a brief moment of anger thrown in, set to a more rock n' roll tune,...

In the new pandemic era of streaming entertainment, Disney+ has seemingly built up its own strategy. Every summer month has thus far been highlighted by one major movie and then complemented with the typical Disney content.
