The Megamind franchise's latest additions are a welcome surprise for long-term fans after 13 years. Megamind Rules! offers charming elements but lacks the large-scale narrative of the movies. Megamind vs. The Doom Syndicate delivers an entertaining sequel with new villains and a compelling story.
Megamind vs. The Doom Syndicate and Megamind Rules! are the latest installments in the Megamind franchise, adding to the original movie and short film. It may have taken over 13 years to return, but DreamWorks' underrated Megamind movie finally received some much-needed new content. Over the years, the demand for a Megamind sequel has grown, making Peacock's new movie and series a welcome surprise for long-term fans. While the latest projects finally gave fans what they'd be asking for, the original Megamind movie created big expectations for the sequels to try and match.
Megamind is a lot different in 2024, with a completely new cast and the protagonist becoming an official hero.

Will Ferrell's absence in Megamind 2 raises questions about the recast and why Ferguson was chosen to voice the character. The decision to cast Ferrell as the villain in Despicable Me 4 instead of reprising his role as Megamind seems strange, considering Megamind's potential for success. The recasting of Megamind may hurt the franchise, as fans had an attachment to Ferrell's portrayal and negative comments have already been made about the change.
Megamind vs. the Doom Syndicate's trailer revealed Will Ferrell won't be reprising his role as Megamind, which is made even stranger by the actor's involvement in another animated sequel. When the movie was first released in 2010, Megamind failed to impress at the box office, but the film has become a cult classic over the years and is finally getting an official sequel. While the first movie was a surprising gem, expectations for Megamind 2 are high, but Will Ferrell's absence is puzzling.

Peacock has released a trailer for the new Megamind movie and TV show, which are releasing simultaneously on March 1st. The movie, Megamind vs. the Doom Syndicate, is a direct sequel to the 2010 film and picks up where it left off. The TV show, Megamind Rules!, follows Megamind as he tries to become the first superhero influencer.
The new Megamind trailer teases both an animated movie and a television show. The original animated movie was released in 2010 and starred Will Ferrell in the title role as a supervillain with a huge brain who eventually learns to be heroic. Although it is technically a multimedia franchise that includes three video games, a short film, and a comic book series, there haven't been any further installments since 2011 beyond appearances by Megamind in DreamWorks branded games like 2019's Dreamworks Universe of Legends.

The upcoming Megamind TV show will finally give the underrated 2010 movie the recognition it deserves. The unorthodox superhero narrative of Megamind is perfectly timed, as audiences are growing tired of conventional superhero stories. The TV show has the potential to explore Megamind's journey as a hero and further develop his relationship with Roxanne, offering plenty of new story opportunities.
DreamWorks has had a lot of hits and misses over the years, but their upcoming TV show could prove why a 13-year-old movie is still so underrated. The animation studio has many recognizable franchises, including Kung Fu Panda, Madagascar, and Shrek. While these are the film series people often associate with the company, there are many several other hits from the studio. How to Train Your Dragon seemingly came out of nowhere to become a massive success, while Puss in Boots: The Last Wish proved to be one of DreamWorks' best projects in years.

A Megamind TV show is an even better prospect than if the film had a sequel. The new series is set to arrive on Peacock sometime in 2024. The Dreamworks series is currently called Megamind TV Series, after changing its previous name, Megamind's Guide To Defending Your City. The change was exciting because it opened the series up to fully explore the main character instead of acting as a Hero's handbook. Not much has been revealed about the show's plot yet, but it's said Megamind is on a mission to become the first superhero influencer. That said, he appears quite villainous in the show's poster.
Megamind followed the main character, voiced by Will Ferrell, on a mission to take down Metro Man, but by the end of the film, he had transformed from a villain to a hero. The film, unfortunately, fell short of other Dreamworks films' success as it became...

The Megamind TV series has changed its name, and luckily the new title will benefit the series. In February, Peacock announced it would be adapting the popular 2010 animated film into a television series. The series was originally titled Megamind's Guide To Defending Your City. The title made it seem as though the series would have a guidebook format and wouldn't act as a true sequel to the film. The show was set to follow Megamind working to become Metro City's new superhero, leaving his villainous ways behind. However, the original title has been scrapped and changed to something more simple, Megamind TV Series.
The 2010 film follows Megamind (voiced by Will Ferrell) and his arch nemesis Metro Man. Both characters arrived in Metro City as babies after their alien planets were sucked into a black hole. Megamind and Metro Man are raised in very different settings, which contribute to how they...
