Oh I had so much expectations from this movie! I loved Sreenath Bhasi in Bheeshmaparvam and Kumbalangi and some of his other less-known movies too. His acting was okay...I would give it 3.5. Grace is really good. But man, the story.
When it began in a party village in Kannur, everything was working. It was authentic. Although even then there were some loose strings but we can overlook it. However, cut to when the other heroine enters the scene...from then the movie lacks direction. Though it tries to get the viewers excited for a Right wing vs Left wing drama, it falls flat. What then follows is a mockery of astrologlical practices. Don't get me wrong. Even though I am a devout Hindu, I can take a joke if delivered well :) But this was crass. The team clearly hasn't done good research on some of the best astrologers in Kerala. They obviously may not be completely accurate in their predictions, but considering the number of other religion people that visit them I can tell you they get a lot of their shiz right.
So when you mock them, you got to do it well and have to back it with solid research. Otherwise, what lies in front of you is a movie that is in a way offensive, neither funny, and extremely boring.
I would still ask you to watch this movie once just to get the feel of how a Communist stronghold village in Kannur is. For a lot of us South Keralites, it is really interesting.
