T'Challa, the King of Wakanda, rises to the throne in the isolated, technologically advanced African nation, but his claim is challenged by a vengeful outsider who was a childhood victim of T'Challa's father's mistake.
Despite the African setting/languages, no scenes were actually filmed in Africa. All the Wakanda scenes were filmed in Georgia.
However, the Korean scenes were shot on location.

When Shuri gives T'challa the new shoes (called sneakers), she mentions that they absorb sound & allow silent footsteps, which T'challa demonstrates. Later in the film, T'challa runs up a ramp wearing the sneakers... accompanied by the sound of footsteps.
