"Only in America with Larry the Cable Guy" is a show currently being shown on the History Channel--having debuted couple months ago. Each episode consists of Larry visiting various jobs throughout the USA where he learns about the job and then tries it out for himself. In style, it's very much like Mike Rowe's "Dirty Jobs" but the emphasis is much more on Larry's gentle humor and rarely is meant to be gross or harrowing. Instead, it showcases interesting jobs and lets Larry interview them and pokes very gentle fun at them and himself. I frankly think the show works because of Larry's nice personality, as many of the jobs he highlights aren't all that interesting--but he and his staff manage to bring it to life. Well worth seeing--and one of the more interesting reality shows currently on TV.

arorashadow_200312 July 2011The History Channel continues the ever going decay from it's roots as a channel for History with adding one more pointless show to the roster. Only In America proves that Only in America can an unfunny untalented idiot hack of a comedian relying on a dated brand of "Blue Collar Humor" actually get his own TV show. Like so many of History's other pointless shows, it goes on the road to talk to every tom dick and harry for no real reason- except - no, no exceptions this show is dumb and pointless. Larry rips off "Dirty Jobs" by doing whatever he can find wherever he can find it while being as loud and obnoxious as he can be with hoots and hollers acting as hackish as possible. The show has no substance no point no purpose of existence aside to give lazy network executives more money to produce more garbage as cheaply as possible.
This joins a gaggle of already pointless shows that fills the airwaves of the network known once as The History Channel all dedicated to blue-collar shows and other dubious garbage and makes me wonder how long before their famous H logo becomes an R for reality. A+E enough is enough, stop giving stupid people more stuff to rot our brains with and go back to your roots. -

ecanehavingfun5 June 2020We would imagine the man who did the voice of a kids character will refrain from using so many sexual references throughout the documentary, very uncomfortable to watch with 12-16 year old kids, don't even think to watch with little girls, you'll have a lot of explaining to do. I can deal with the poop and farting, but Larry went a little far with the MA Rated language.
