Walt Longmire is the dedicated and unflappable sheriff of Absaroka County, Wyoming. Widowed only a year, he is a man in psychic repair but buries his pain behind his brave face, unassuming grin and dry wit.
On its premiere in June 2012, the series became A&E TV's most watched original series launch of all time with 4.1 million total viewers.
Several times throughout the series, there are buildings shown with a southwest US architecture in the Pueblo Indian style. This is a trait of towns in New Mexico, where the series is filmed; not Wyoming.
