After more than five years, Netflix's long-awaited reimagining of "Avatar: The Last Airbender" is finally coming to fruition in February. The live-action series will take the beloved Nickelodeon animated show and attempt to bring it to life in a new medium for a new generation. Or, presumably, the same generation of fans that loved the original and who are hoping to capture that same magic. While the final verdict has yet to be determined, Netflix used every tool at its disposal to bring the airbenders, earthbenders, waterbenders, and firebenders to life. That included borrowing a few tricks learned from another one of the streamer's big hit shows, "Stranger Things."
Entertainment Weekly recently published a comprehensive preview of the live-action "Avatar: The Last Airbender" series. In speaking about bringing the firebending abilities to life, it was explained that "Stranger Things" season 4 had a direct influence on that front. The same...

The official trailer for Peacock’s upcoming Ted series has dropped, and it gives viewers a clearer look at how Ted the Bear and his best friend John Bennett try to survive the awkwardness of high school in the 1990s.
Created by Seth MacFarlane, the R-rated series — at least from the trailer — seems to hit all the right nostalgia notes with music from The Proclaimers, lots of big hair, piano key neckties and a brief glimpse of a classic Volkswagen Golf convertible.
The series takes place in 1993, right after Ted’s moment of fame has passed. He’s now living back home in Framingham, Massachusetts, with his best friend John. In the clip, we see Ted (voiced by MacFarlane) and John (Max Burkholder) negotiating school without much success but also trying to get laid and high, all the things audiences have come to expect from the comedy franchise.

"The Amityville Horror" is one of the definitive haunted house films, a classic tale about paranormal activity terrorizing a suburban family with swarming flies, mysterious voices, and sudden illness. Even the windows resemble ominous eyes peering down on the unsuspecting victims. The movie taps into the religious undertones popularized by other 1970s releases such as "The Exorcist" and "The Omen," suggesting there is a Satanic force at work that must be destroyed.
Eventually, the new owners George and Kathy Lutz discover the horrifying history of their new home: Ronald DeFeo Jr. murdered his entire family with a rifle one year prior, a Satanic worshipper named John Ketchum once lived on the land, and the house itself was built on a Shinnecock burial ground.
Despite receiving mixed reviews for elements like the cheesy portrayal of a possessed George, "The Amityville Horror" ended up having a significant impact on the horror genre.

Peacock announced this morning that its live-action “Ted” prequel event series from creator/executive producer/writer/director/co-showrunner/star Seth MacFarlane will roll out all seven of its episodes (including a supersized premiere) January 11, 2024 on the streamer and has dropped its first teaser trailer – extending the film franchise that produced movies in 2012 and 2015. It promises to take fans “on a hilarious R-rated journey back to the ’90s” along with more of the concept’s signature raunchy humor, eye-popping special effects and a fresh cast of characters played by Max Burkholder (“Parenthood”), Alanna Ubach (“Euphoria”), Scott Grimes (“The Orville”) and Giorgia Whigham (“13 Reasons Why”). They join the iconic teddy bear, Ted, voiced as in the movies by MacFarlane. Watch the teaser trailer above.

Earlier this week, we learned that director Erik Bloomquist‘s slasher movie Founders Day has secured a North American distribution deal with Dark Sky Films, and the company is planning to give it a theatrical release sometime in the first quarter of 2024. In preparation for that release, the movie has also now secured a rating from the Motion Picture Association ratings board. Founders Day has been rated R for “strong bloody violence, language, and some sexual references.” So it delivers pretty much what you expect to see from a slasher movie.
Written by Erik Bloomquist and Carson Bloomquist, Founders Day is a contemporary murder mystery set in the midst of a heated mayoral election on the eve of a quaint New England town’s tricentennial.
The Bloomquist brothers produced the film for Mainframe Pictures, alongside Adam Weppler. Hargreaves co-produced with William Russ. William Kay serves as executive producer with Blue...
