I know what you’re thinking: “Oh great, another movie in which Paul Walker drives fast in a car!” But wait, whilst Vehicle 19 does see everyone’s second-favourite Fast & Furious franchise star get behind the wheel of a car, this film is a whole different kettle of fish for Mr. Walker… Yet another in the line of “one man, one location” movies that have followed the successful release of Buried, the film takes it’s tale on to the roads of Johannesburg as Walker finds himself in the middle of mystery, knowing exactly as much as the audience does – that he’s definitely in the wrong rental car!

I.d like to begin by saying, .You.re welcome,. to the three people in the Earth.s population that have never before seen Paul Walker in a high tension thriller that involves a car (or a dog sled), but have always wanted to. Of course, Walker is most famous for his work in four of the last five films in the Fast and the Furious franchise . with the sixth one coming May 24 . but his latest film, Vehicle 19 isn.t about a street racing gang.s trials and tribulations. It.s about one man, Michael Woods, who gets himself caught up in a world of police corruption. Oh, and car chases of course. Vehicle 19 is the second feature from South African filmmaker Mukunda Michael Dewil, who first helmed the 2011 crime thriller Retribution. As the octane-fuelled trailer shows, the film stars Walker as a foreigner who unwittingly picks up...

Olympus Pictures and Paul Haggis’ Hwy 61 announced today it is moving forward with a father-son project inspired by the relationship between Espn sports commentator Selema “Sal” Masekela and his father Hugh Masekela, the jazz musician featured on Paul Simon’s Graceland album and South African apartheid activist who was exiled for more than 30 years. South African filmmaker Mukunda Michael Dewil has been hired to write and direct the film. The project follows a son emerging out of the shadow of his successful but troubled father set against a backdrop of music, surfing, and South Africa’s racism. The untitled Masekela project will be produced by Leslie Urdang and Dean Vanech of Olympus Pictures, Haggis and Michael Nozik of Hwy 61 Films, and Selema Masekela. “I first met Sal when he was a teenager working with his father on the Graceland tour,” said Urdang. “We met again many years later and the...

Briefly: Evidently happy being connected to starring vehicles that are oriented around, er, vehicles, Fast Five star Paul Walker has signed to exec produce and star in a film called Vehicle 19. The movie is about " an unsuspecting traveler (Walker) in a foreign country who picks up the wrong rental car and becomes tangled in a web of corruption by the local police." The film is written and will be directed by South African filmmaker Mukunda Michael Dewil, whose only produced credit is the film Retribution. So that doesn't leave us a lot to go on with knowing what to expect out of Vehicle 19 based on his previous work. The basic premise certainly makes for a solid thriller, and we'll keep track of who else is cast. The film should go before cameras at the end of this summer, so we'll have more soon. Paul Walker will no doubt eventually find himself behind the wheels of another muscle car and involved in what will likely be another heist via another “Fast and Furious” movie soon enough, but until then, he’s going the rental car route first. Of course, that doesn’t mean he still won’t be in a buttload of trouble. Walker has signed on to star and produce “Vehicle 19″, which will be directed by South African filmmaker Mukunda Michael Dewil (left) from his own script. Dewill recently wrote and directed the thriller “Retribution”, which is currently playing the festival circuits. The plot of “Vehicle 19″ finds Walker playing a “traveler in a foreign country who picks up the wrong rental car and becomes tangled in a web of corruption by the local police.” According to this article about Dewill’s script for “Vehicle 19″ landing on Hollywood’s radar, the film will also...

Paul Walker definitely likes being in the driver's seat.
Walker is revving up for this weekend's release of "Fast Five," the actor's fourth appearance (he wasn't in the third installment, "The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift") in the franchise that gives high-speed homage to hot cars, hot women and hot crime.
Now, he's keeping the wheels turning as he takes on another vehicle (pun intended) to showcase his knack for ruling the road, "Vehicle 19"," according to Variety.
Mukunda Michael Dewil ("Retribution") is writing and directing the film about an American man with a rap sheet who travels to South Africa and finds himself unknowingly transporting a hostage to testify against a corrupt police force.
Walker will star in and executive produce the indie thriller, which is from the 2010 Black List of best unproduced screenplays.
We like us some Paul Walker, whether he's driving around in a cool car...
