Brian McGreevy is the author who wrote the novel Hemlock Grove, then worked with Lee Shipman and Eli Roth to develop the concept into a television series that ran on the Netflix streaming service for three seasons and a total of 33 episodes. McGreevy went on to co-create the Western TV series The Son, which ran on AMC for two seasons, a total of 20 episodes. Now, Deadline reports that McGreevy is set to make his feature directorial debut with a psychological thriller called The Technique – and he has assembled a solid cast to bring the story’s characters to life. While appearing at the Glasgow Film Festival for the premiere of Long Day’s Journey Into Night, an Irish radio station asked her if she would be returning to the horror series.

“Oh Christ, no,” Lange said. “I mean, I haven’t done it for more than 10 years, 12 years, so, no, I’m not doing it.”

The interviewer told Lange that Season 13 of American Horror Story could be the final one for the series and asked if that would move her to return.

That’s the candid response the actress gave to Irish radio station Spin 1038 at yesterday’s premiere of her new film, Long Day’s Journey into Night.

Spin 1038 followed up by asking if she would return for the upcoming 13th season — rumored to be the final one — if asked. Lange offered a simple “no” with a chuckle.

Lange was a staple of the first four seasons of FX’s hit horror anthology between 2011 and 2015, earning her two Primetime Emmy awards. She guest starred in 2018’s eight season, reprising her original role as Constance Langdon.

The American Society of Cinematographers Awards were handed out Sunday night, with the film prize going to Edward Lachman for Maria.

This is Lachman’s first ASC win. He was previously nominated for Far From Heaven (2003), Mildred Pierce (2011), Carol (2016) and El Conde (2024). He received the ASC’s Lifetime Achievement Award in 2017.

On the TV side, Richard Rutkowski won for Sugar in the episode of a half-hour series category, and Sam Mccurdy won for Shogun in the one-hour regular series category, while the limited or anthology series of motion picture made for television award went to Robert Elswit for Ripley.

The Spotlight Award was awarded to Jomo Fray, cinematographer of Nickel Boys.

Robert De Niro is set to make his TV debut in “Zero Day.” The Netflix series follows a former U.S. president who’s tapped to lead a commission tasked with tracking down the perpetrators of a devastating cyberattack responsible for the deaths of thousands of Americans, only to discover a vast web of lies and conspiracies.

After the cancellation of “9-1-1: Lone Star” at Fox, there’s a new series coming to Ryan Murphy’s emergency responder franchise: “9-1-1: Nashville,” set to premiere on ABC during the 2025-2026 season.

The news follows Variety‘s October report that a new “9-1-1” spinoff was in the works.

Though plot and casting details are yet to be shared, it can be assumed that the new “9-1-1” spinoff, like the flagship series and “Lone Star, will follow the work and personal lives of a team of first responders, this time in Tennessee.

“9-1-1” was created by Murphy, Brad Falchuk and Tim Minear and premiered on Fox in 2018 before moving to ABC for its seventh season in 2024. Currently on its eighth season, the series is set in Los Angeles and stars Angela Bassett, Peter Krause, Oliver Stark, Jennifer Love Hewitt, Ryan Guzman, Aisha Hinds, Kenneth Choi and Gavin McHugh.

Since each season tackles a different subgenre within horror, everyone is bound to have favorites based on what kind of horror they prefer. Slasher fans might prefer season 9, "American Horror Story: 1984," which is set at a summer camp and riffs on classic 1970s and 1980s slashers, while fans of spooky, sexy, silly vampire stories might prefer season 5, "American Horror Story: Hotel." Deadline reports that the actress has signed on to star in the indie film alongside Lou Taylor Pucci (Evil Dead), with principal photography set to begin this month.

Cuban-American writer-director Johnny Coffeen, who began as the assistant editor of Short Term 12, will make his feature debut on the psychological horror film.

The Avalanche follows two former lovers, played by Essoe and Pucci, forced together by an avalanche that cuts them off from the world.

The 2011 horror anthology series "American Horror Story," co-created by Brad Falchuk and TV juggernaut Ryan Murphy, is presented in a novel fashion. Each one of its 12 seasons stands as a wholly independent 10-to-13-episode miniseries, with each one featuring a unique set of characters and a new timeframe/location. Murphy and Falchuk select a traditionally Halloween-y horror topic or premise -- a haunted house, vampires, a witch coven, a circus sideshow, extraterrestrials, cultists -- and then spin it out in their own sensationalistic idiom. "American Horror Story" tends to be salacious and stylized, and its sheer variety have kept audiences coming back for years.

Note: "American Horror Story" is not to be confused with the 2021 series "American Horror Stories," which is actually a spinoff. "Stories" is a more traditional "Tales from the Crypt"-like anthology show, with each episode featuring an original story and its own unique cast of actors.
