Interesting and provoking film, being well paced and based on actual events
A drama thriller revolving around an unfortunate man, Luis Tosar, who becomes involved in problems, along with his wife : Martina Gacia and family, when he is coerced by the guerrilla of the FARC, and its main leader: Mono Jojoy, to take care of an injured child. As FARC, Revolutionary Armed Forces de Colombia execute battles and terrorist acts at the Southern rural zone and against the Colombian government, financing themselves by cultivating and trafficking Coca . Later on, the Colombian goverment pulls off a spectacular mission : Operation Enmanuel, an international rescue operation.
A nice and stirring drama about Colombia and the violent and bloody FARC, the oldest guerilla of the South American continent. This guerrilla operates in the South Colombia, executing their activities with around 10. 000 soldiers or guerrilleros and 30 per cent of them result to be little boys . It was created in 1964 as the executioner arm of the Communist Party. From 1998 to 2001 this South zone was dismilitarized since a peace process, replacing the Colombian State for a FARC govern spread a large superficie . Based on real events, about life of a humble farmer called Crisanto who was wrongly detained and after spending 6 years in prison, Crisanto was declared innocent of all count by the Colombian justice. And Mono Jojoy who was shot and dead in 2010 in an operative carried out by the Colombian army in the La Macarena region. The picture is dedicated to the victims of the long Colombian conflict, though has been recently accorded an uneven peace treaty between President Imanol Uribe and the FARC Guerrila . Here Luis Tosar gives a compelling acting, adding a strong Colombian accent, playing a farmer who is given a baby to take care of him. Tosar is a good Spanish actor who has played films of all kinds of genres, especially known for Thrillers as Celda 212, Mientras duermes, Plan de fuga, El niño, Cargo, La sombra de la ley, Los ultimos de Filipinas, Quien a hierro mata and dramas as Los lunes al sol, Te doy mis ojos, Una noche en viejo Mejico, Lope, 18 comidas, La vida que te espera.
It contains adequate cinematography by Josu Inchaustegui, and shot on location, as it shows colorfully the lush Colombia jungle. As well as evocative and moving musical score by Thierry Westermayor, including South American sounds. The motion picture was well directed by Michael Courtais. He is a fine artisan who has directed several social and political thrillers such as : El Lobo, Gal, 11 M, Un reportero bajo sospecha and this Operacion E. Rating 6.5/10. This is a decent social and denounce thriller.
